Here is what my dealer does (that I have never wasted a minute on) that is critical to warrantee as well as safety and peace of mind.

I trust that all you folks saving a few bucks are doing this - and recording those results as well ????

?

Except for the oil and filter change, which I do myself so it's done right not necessarily because it is cheaper, I do all those other items EVERYTIME that I go riding... it just makes sense.

You telling me you're just "A CHEAP BASTARD ??? "
Yes, and Yes, but unlike you I don't have the unlimited resources to pour back into the dealer of choice. You see I'm a few decades younger than you and haven't built this massive fortune. I am trying but the bike expenses keep getting in the way.

After all the intellectual thought that I believed you put into your massive number of resposes ... you're just CHEAP!
Yes, again. Good to see that I have fooled another person concerning my intellectual prowess! But it puts me in a Quandry, I bought the bike on a prayer and a wish and barely enough cash to make the monthly payment on a 10 year note. That is why there is no customizing on my bike, it's all stock, I just can't afford it.

You buy "The Rolls Royce" of motorcyles - then be 'cheap'? Pretenders, pretenders - "Sell your 'real' motorcyles and go back to HD's, or Honda's or Beemers - leave the BEST to those of us who CARE !
And let the DEALERS look after them! P.S. VICTORY (I will accept any payment for this endorsement....)
Yes, I bought what I thought to be the Rolls Royce or Bentley of mopeds, but I didn't get the upper class endorsement when I bought it. I'm still light blue collar workerbee, shiner bock swilling, Dr. Pepper chasin, country boy. So, if I were to sell, I would be back on my 1977 Kawasaki KZ1000 and Victory didn't exist then. Or, I could just ride the old Horse in my Pasture to work. Seems like it would be cheaper.

So, where does that leave me, working on my bike, scratching to make ends meet, kids still at home, funding their entertainment and mine, oh yeah, working on my bike and all the other toys I have. Right now I have the dash apart on a 2004 GMC Dually chasing down why my A/C blows hot on one side and cold on the other. Oh yeah, still working on my bike, cauze, my HID light blinks above 3500 rpm and its a loose connection under the center console and I haven't had time to fix it, either. Oh yeah, I don't have the money to drop a cool G at the GMC dealer to fix it or the other 2 Ben Franklin's to fix the BentLey.

So, where does that leave me, on the concrete enjoying the coolness of the hardened rock wondering where I will acquire the next dollar to fund my next project or new tires.

Don't ask, I don't know why I had to break it into three responses for it to post.

btw you do NOT need dealer service to keep a warranty. (at least not in the U.S.A.) its a law that passed in the early to mid 1970's. Not only that but i have had warranty work both factory and extended and my warranty records were not asked for. BUT if they would i had evey oil change recorded and every receipt saved for both oil and filter.. My own dealer to whom i befriended over the years told me i didnt need to come to him for oil changes... lol

My apologies to EVERYONE who does their own maintenance - FOR WHATEVER REASON. I have reviewed my ugly comments and realized that I was wrong to criticize anyone - just because I am too lazy and old to do what you do. I used to do all that stuff - and enjoyed doing it. Please excuse my poor excuse for humor and bad manners.
I too have stretched myself to the limits, because I had to have a new (whatever) and then find a way to keep it running/looking new. Too many times.
I promise you this - 'no more posting to this (or any) website when I have had a snootful of booze'. POLLO - I was mean. I AM sorry ....

Oh, and then you take all the thunder away from your post, how dare you, I was giving you the "OLD FART CARD" to use as needed and then you sully up and beg for an excuse, HOW DARE YOU! Have another snootful before you come back on here, I like the boozed up and cantankerous OLD FART much better! I shall hand you your walker now, until you show back up with attitude in hand. Or did the wife get ahold of your account and trying to play nice for you!

There I was anxiously anticipating another riling, wrenched out, boozed up response to entertain me and then that. Oh, the travshamockery (BuckNakd Days)!

No need to apologize, entertain me! You, I and a handful of folks are the only ones paying attention to this thread anyway. I enjoy your oil spouts and your ability of not having to wrench on your toys.

Wife thinks we can go camping in about a two months, take the RV and the bikes and four wheelers and dry camp and ride around. Guess what I have to fix the RV, Fix two different bikes and probably something else, Oh yeah, the Dually before I can even go. I assure you I ain't got the cash flow to drop all them off at the Dealers of their choice.

Hmmmm, maybe I need a career change, what did you say you did before?

Anyway, suck it up, I gotta go fix somethin, but I gotta mow the yard first. Dangit!

Maybe I should learn from VaRyder - create a NEW me. Only keep one for when I'm sober, and one for 'the other' me ....
And yeah - the wife has cut my boozing by about 3/4 (or more). I can actually walk a few miles now. When we met - I couldn't do a few blocks.
With my wife sick - and dying - I didn't give a crap about living - and hid in the booze. That attitude is GONE!

That was almost worth getting your "old fart card" back. A little more oil passionate and the world should just about realign itself.
