Come hell or high water..... I WILL get my Kisan headlight modulators installed today. Probably will be much cussing, fuming and post installation beer drinking. BUT I will get it done. What a tight spot the area where these headlight plugs are located....

Remove the air filter to give yourself a little more room to work.

Just don't get in a hurry and don't force anything, try to be smarter than the parts! To many folks wind up letting the parts kick their butt unnecessarily. Let us know how it went and note possible access or installation issues GOOD LUCK

Good Luck. I always make sure my blood pressure meds are onboard before I start things like that.

Ah crap. Broke the right halogen bulb trying to disconnect it. You wouldn't BELIEVE how tight the connector was on the back of the bulb... Off to the store to get another one (didn't have much of an issue with the left bulb). Mat as well get a matching new set....

Well, even with Hell and High water arriving, I was not able to get the Kisan "plug -n- play" modulator installed. really pissed at myself; normally installing stuff like this doesn't kick my ass, but this little accessory did.

Main point of my failure; I could not get enough manual dexterity in the small space to adequately connect the bulb retaining clip with the Kisan unit attached; even with leaving the leads disconnected.

...and I did not like how the H4 bulb's contacted did not seat all of the way into the Kisan unit. I've installed these twice before; once on my VTX1300 and a dual set in my Triumph Rocket. The connections seemed better seated; although I was using the "pigtail" version of the modulator rather than the one that just defeated me this afternoon.

I did get good finally at replacing the bulbs; so at least I gleaned something from this adventure.

I think I need to go with the headlight modulator unit that splices in the the headlight wiring on the Vision; I need to get a wiring diagram of this bitch so I can figure out where to install it. I had a wired in Signal Dynamics modulator on my Vstrom a while back; which was not difficult to install.

Do not let my post here dissuade anyone else from trying to install one. Headlight modulators should be standard equipment on all motorcycles. This Vision will get one eventually, just not the "plug -n- play" version of it. there is no such thing as (easy) "plug -n- play" modulators for a Victory Vision....

Most won't agree, but when I put my modulator in, and even when I change bulbs, I remove the whole assembly.

It may take a little bit longer but it sure is a lot less frustrating. Besides, it gives me an opportunity to clean and inspect things normally not seen.

So how do you disassemble the front end to get at the headlight housing? how much do you remove? I downloaded the repair manual but haven't ventured much into it.

Use the manual. It really is an easy process if you follow the steps as laid out. As John said, everything. But it isn't as bad as it sounds. Intimidating the first time you venture forth, but after you've done it you won't think much of it.
As I said before it takes the frustration out, almost turns it to a fun job.
I would allow yourself 3 or 4 hours for the job the first time you do it, depends on how much 'exploring' you do. Having done it, I could do it in under an hour now.
