Northern Illinois | The XC I used to have had a Lloydz air filter on it. I heard A LOT of intake noise compared to the stock filter. Didn't really like that, ended up selling that and bought an '11 Vision.
Next month, I'm scheduled to have Rylan Vos install cams, fuel controller and dyno tune the Vision. We're also planning on the Lloydz Vision air filter at that time.
My question is- will the new Vision air filter make as much intake noise as the XC air filter that I had?? |

| Never heard a XC noise but yes vision top filter does make noise. Rylan can tell you how much power you will loose by not have one
Or like the riders after me will say crank up the stereo or its something to lo live with. I tuck my filter out |

Denver, Iowa | Yes, you will hear a signifcant amount of intake noise. The top filter fits right under your radio, so the noise is kinda 'in your face'. |

Beer Collins, Colorado (there is no fort) | I have the Ness Twin Sucker that I put on my '09 Vision before Lloyd came out with the 2nd generation top filter-it was the best available at the time. I noticed an improved throttle response and minimal intake noise increase, mostly under heavy acceleration where it harmonizes with the exhaust note to make some beautiful music. |

Manchester, CT | If you don't have a timing wheel installed yet you may want to do it when you do the cams etc. Without it you'll loose low end torque, with it..you will have a permanent smile! |

Agreed---but there is another angle to consider.
If one gets the cams, the stock rev-limiter really gets in the way. One option for solving that problem is Lloydz reprogrammed ECU, which raises the rev limit to 6400 in all gears. In addition, it also has an improved fuel and timing map which restores the small amount of low end torque lost by the cams, thus killing two birds with one stone. The timing wheel can still be added too, of course.
To the original question: Yes, the top filter adds some intake noise, especially under hard throttle, in addition to adding some power. The sound reminds me a lot of the sound of the secondaries opening up on a four barrel on a 60's muscle car. I like it.

I didn't mention it, but I do already have the timing wheel on the bike.... and it did make a difference.

I've got both models of Lloyds top filters sitting in the garage. On my '11, the injectors resonate at 2700 rpm and it sounds like a rod knocking......you can tell the difference in performance, but I could NOT stand the noise. |

| I've been trying to keep my '13 stealth (ride my TC if I want loud). Currently have stock mufflers with cams, intake, wheel and top filter. I was thinking of putting louvers in the stock access plate and putting it on top of the filter. Anyone tried that? |
