| Hey folks! Victory newbie and have a ton of questions.
Currently on my second Goldwing so I'm not new to riding or touring bikes. I'll be honest, when they first introduced the Vision in 2008 I was taken back by it and just couldn't connect with it but now I find it more and more appealing. Its grown on me.
I found a candidate several states away that I'm considering. Its a 2008 Vision tour comfort package(In red) with only 6,300 miles. Comes with Victory custom cover, form-fitted luggage and extended warranty through May 2014.
Does anyone know if there is a fee to transfer the warranty to new owner?
The owner says its been a year since the oil was changed so that needs to be done. I suspect not only does the oil need changing, so does the brake fluid and clutch fluid. Tires are 2008 tires so at 5 years I would want those changed too. Is there anything else at 6,300 miles that would need service?
What is a fair price for such a bike assuming its in pristine condition that just needs tires and fluids changed? Is $9,000 low-balling him?

Mt. Vernon, WASH. | NADA bluebook lists it for $12K range, sounds like a bargain, I really like my 08 ands can't wait for the weather to get above 45 and stop raining. |

Land O Lakes, FL | There were some nice updates to later visions (transmission and such) I would try to find something a bit newer if it were me buying. The money you'll spend getting this one road worthy could go toward a newer model that doesn't need the work. As a former wing owner I love my vision! |

New Mexico | I had a bit of trouble connecting with the looks too. But it stuck in my head, and once I rode one a few years later I was sold.
Yes, I would change oil etc. Maybe fork oil, but hard saying. More critical in the more humid parts of the coutry.
Battery before next winter depending on how it was taken care of. For now I would remove connections, clean, retighten.
Coming up on air filter, but again, kind of depends on the area of the country you are in.
I make it a practice to WD-40 both ends of clutch lines and Ignition key with every oil change. Also might want to hit trunk and side bag mechanisms.
Do all safety checks (front/back brake lights, high/low beams, etc) I had an early issue with front brake switch failure.
I don't think there is ever a low-ball offer. Sometimes I pay more than something is 'worth', sometimes less. All depends on my desires/needs vs theirs.

Peru, IN | And if he says 'no', walk away. Unless the '08 has a ton of Lloydz stuff (like a 110 or 116 build), there are too many other Visions out there for not much more money. Hell, I'd sell ya my almost brand new '12 (less than 2500 miles) for $20k. |

| So far $10,000 is his bottom line. Its alot of bike for $10,000 but will I miss ABS and is the newer tranny that much improved?

| The Kelly Blue Book says the bike is worth $12,000+ retail and about $9700 trade-in...If it is in the shape you say with that low miles I would not hesitate to buy it...You can low ball the guy, but if it were mine I would not sell it for less than $10,000 as it is worth the money to someone....JMHO PS, I don't know if ABS brakes and the tranny noise would steer me away for the price.....

| sounds like a fair deal to me. love my 09 prem. tour. found it on ebay.. as for the warranty...dont count on it too much.. you need records and reciepts and frankly the dealers wont offer much help. good news is chances are you wont need it.. they are well built bikes. good luck! |

Jasper, MO | Mine's a 2008 Vision Tour Premium, and I would not take $10,000 for it. That said, the Premium models have a lot of extra chrome stock (handlebars, tip over protectors, brake and shift levers, etc) , heated seats and grips, lighted badges, and HID driving light that would have added a couple thousand dollars at least to add to a Comfort model. The Tour Premium package was a bargain at the time for all the extras you got. I do not know if the price guides take that into account. $10,000 may be a fair price for a Tour Comfort, especially if he has added some options/accessories.
Wear items expenses, such as tires and brakes and fluids, are going to occur with any bike.
I've ridden a new 2012 Vision and while nice, it does not offer anything that would cause me to trade, and in fact it looks "cheapened" compared to my Tour Premium.

| Unless it sat outside, I would say engine oil is the only thing that needs be changed. sometimes its better not to mess with the oil in hydraulic clutches or breaks unless you think there is something wrong. I have 30K on my 09 and have no intention of changing the clutch and break fluids.
I prefer the earlier Vision, they had more bells and whistles like the pneumatic struts in the side bags, and actual powerlet ports instead of Cig ports. I don't think the newer tranny is all that great plus I prefer the straight cut gears as opposed to the helical.
with only 6300 miles, unless there is some cosmetic problem 9K would likely be a bit low, but ask see what the dudes says |

I'm relying on memory, which may fail me, but I think the "Comfort" did have the heated seats and grips. As I recall, initially Victory offered three versions of the Tour (the ones with the trunk), a base Tour version with no heated seats and grips, (which I'm not sure anyone ever actually ordered), a Tour Comfort version, which had some of the creature comforts, but not the chrome and extra lighting of the Premium, and of course the Tour Premium version which had all the bells and whistles.
If you can get some pictures, the switches for the heated seats are located in the passenger's seat itself, on the left side, under the grab handle. The switch for the heated grips is located in the top of the console and is marked as such. It should be the one on the left.
Somebody who actually has a Tour Comfort will be along to refresh my memory.
You asked about service intervals. The first "major" service interval is at 10,000 miles and only consists of common sense items like lubing the cable ends and the pivot points of the shift and brake levers (and oil change of course). The periodic service chart does not list changing the clutch and brake fluid until 30,000 miles, along with the fork oil and the drive belt at that point. Many of us have ignored the belt replacement and fork oil change recommendations until much later.
Really, the only difference in service intervals of the Vision compared to the Goldwing is more frequent oil changes (the oil in the Vision does triple duty, serving as engine lube, transmission lube, and as a coolant) and you do have a drive belt to keep an eye on instead of a drive shaft, but it has proven to be fairly trouble free on the Vision.
Honda recommends 8000 mile oil changes for the GL1800. Victory recommends 2500 mile oil changes for the earlier Visions (using Victory oil). Several of us have had good results using a synthetic oil in our 2008 Visions and changing it at every 5000 miles.

Des Moines | As a 2009 Tour Comfort owner I can confirm the Comfort came with the heated seats and grips. I think the only difference between the comfort and the premium was all the chrome doo-dads. |

| I have a 2008 tour premium and it has the heated seat and grips. I ride with a bunch of GW and I can tell you when we stop for lunch or fuel, its the VV that gets the looks and questions from people. Love my 08. Just today when I was stopped at a light near my home, big ford pick up, fairly new, stops to my right. Guy in the passenger seat is straining is neck to check out the bike  |
