Here is your answer as to the front tire wear.

Dunlop Tire Contact Form Submission, Comments :

Are the D250 and Elite 3 tires for the GL 1800 a 2CT (dual compound) tire
having a harder compound in the center of the tire and a softer compound
for better grip on either side, or are they a single compound tire?

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your Dunlop motorcycle
tire questions. Neither of the two tire models referenced are
multi-compound tires.

RECENTLY, Dunlop released a new dual compound REAR E3 tire for our bikes.
The front tire still is a single compound per their website.

Tire builders can mimic the increased wear advantages of a dual compound tire with only a single compound used.

From this site;

Some tire makers are currently bucking the dual-compound trend, and instead using a proprietary construction that allows the tire to use a single compound but mimics the performance of a dual-compound tire.

I learned something today was under the impression E3 was a dual compound. Thanks for the info.

The Bridgestone G709 doesn't seem to do this, and it is a single compound tire like Dunlop claims theirs to be. That's the only reason I tried them out and have been happy so far. I had to change out tires when handling became affected. When making a gentle turn, the bike would dip and I had to fight to maintain it's course in a turn. Going straight was never a problem though.
