not really difficult, just time consuming with lots of screws....you have to remove most of the plastic (fairing) to access the back of the side fairing where you screw the badges...

There is a slot just under the housing so a flat screw driver can pop off the outer half. You will have to take the top plastic off to get at the conectors.

There is no bulb its LED's and there not cheap $143 bucks

If you still have a warranty, they should cover it. It is not a light bulb and should last longer than the bike. Mine was covered under an extended warranty.

Well the issue is one thing that not enough persons are speaking intelligently about. I am very completely satisfied that.

the burnt out light is NOT serviceable ! How do i know? because i wasted the time a few years ago and found this out first hand... =( There is a little flat led light embedded onto the printed circuit board. I even tried to look up part numbers and went to radio shack to find something that would fit.. it was a total waste of time....

Can't the LED be desoldered from the board? Maybe look under MIL SPEC LEDs for replacement?

My left side is now out, after reading this thread I will keep it that way. Bike runs great without them. : )

The outer portion (plastic chrome) of the side badge on the left side of my 2011 Tour just fell off while riding (I never found it), leaving two wires coming out of the black base. My extended warranty (polaristar) rejected the claim saying they don't cover "body parts" or "lights". Pretty disappointing.

The dealer wants $370 to replace it. I see them (looks like they're only sold in sets) on ebay for $175-$200.

Question: should I buy a new one, then take off the outer chrome portion (which I assume has the light) and glue it onto the base after connecting the wires? Or should I tear off the fairing, etc. and replace the whole unit?

I just ordered the shop manual. I'm "average" in terms of mechanical ability and have no experience working on the Vision. Is this a tough job?

Thanks!!!

Someone on this board posted a very cheap way to replace those lights in the badges with something else. Do a search.

Thanks for the replies. The outer portion of my badge came off while riding and broke free from the wires. So I have no choice but to buy a new one. I think I'll try to just replace just the outer portion. I do hate to break apart the new one, but it sounds like that will be easier than taking off the body panels and replacing the whole thing.

Thanks again!
