I noticed the other day, and confirmed on a trip Friday to Charleston, my front brake won't disengage cruise control. I can pull hard, and the engine fights stopping. The rear brake cancels the control. Any ideas or tips for a non mechanic? I will just let it slide until there are about 5 or more things wrongs (gear indicator doesn't work well). No local dealership, and I can ride without cruise.

Thanks, Herb

Does the brake light come on when you pull the front brake? That is the first thing to check.

The little button in the switch box on the bottom side of the brake lever is worn out. I replaced mine last year because it did the same thing. ET

Thanks for the replies. I haven't even touched the Vision since I posted, but I will. Nail in the Kawasaki's rear tire (it was the original bike going to Charleston), and it was the Goldwings turn to play today. (o:

Oh, holly cow. Looks like I have been driving around for a few weeks without signaling to those behind me I am hitting the brake. I usually only use the front brake. I guess I score a D in the daily check of my vehicle. I only visually check the tires, and I am off. The rear brake lights do work if I use the rear brake.

I see the little black plastic peice you speak of. Time to see if the Victory dealership in Savannah still exists for some extended warranty work.

Well what do you know, it only took me a little over 2 Months to fix.
Savannah Victory dealership did close. Savannah Polaris dealership tried to get me the part.
Too hot to ride, so I am good with the timing.

Per Kevinx's tip, I got the new switch from http://www.polarisofgainesville.com. They even worked with me, and I got the part warranted via the GE Capital extended warranty!

Do you see the little nipple not popping out on the old switch?

Herb

Mine is out right now. That reminds me....I am calling them right now to see if it is in since they ordered it last Friday.

I wonder if I could work with it to get it working before it is replaced? Never mind it is in.

Ron the service manager said that will put it in whenever I drop by.

...so let me see if I understand this, if the nipple is popping out, everything is working right, right?

I had the same problem (with the micro switch, not the nipp......well, you know what I mean). When this occurs it will definitely take out your brake lights when using the front brake (rear brake will still engage the brake lights). Part is pretty cheap and easily fixed. If this part fails make sure you are always using rear brake or the drivers behind you will have no idea you are braking.....and get it replace ASAP.

Small part, easy fix, HUGE problems if ignored.

As much as I jump and ride, pre-checks are essential for every trip, especially for brake lights. But everybody knows that already, right?

From what O read polaris is a very poor company when it comes to helping there customers with parts.
Getting them or should I say polaris disco the parts and the bike is only 4 years old.
Not a very good way to compete in to days market place.

Polaris doesn't have permission to help out anyone with a Victory part is what it boils down to. The Polaris dealership tried. Their software even accepted the charge, and I was billed. (I got refunded) An employee quit during the time frame. The new person finally found out that Polaris wouldn't send the part to them because they didn't sell Victory motorcycles. Yep, Victory needs to "demand" a change, in my opinion. Or, a Victory dealership needs to open every 75 miles down the Interstates.

Noticed a week ago was taking more pressure on the front brake to disengage the cruise. Has gotten worse, and now will not disengage at all w/front brake. With back brake works fine. So went to the trusty forum.... 'F' for me on daily checks! No brake lights when I apply front brakes! Will get it into the dealer asap; and until then will make sure to always use the back and front brakes together.

This thread helped me diagnose my problem. So I thought I would help others who come across the same problem in the future. The plunger on my front brake switch was stuck. The Polaris part is $30. I found the same switch on ebay for $6. It's K&S Technologies 12-0005. Showed up in my mailbox in 3 days. Took about 2 minutes to change it. The switch is the same on all Visions as far as I can tell from the parts diagrams.

While not factual, many Victory parts are imported then assembled in Iowa. Several parts I've noticed on mine were 'made in china'. Could be these K&s parts were an original supplier.
