So, I inadvertantly learned two new things about the Vision this week. Maybe you all know this and maybe I need to read my manual again.
1. Getting on I-5 I learned that the Vision has a rev limiter
2. After backing my bike up I absent mindeldly put it in 1st gear while still in reverse and the bike shut down.

Smart people those Polaris folks.

Reverse?

What is this 'reverse' of which you speak?

And yeah, I've hit the limiter a couple of times myself. Usually while trying to get on I-5. It is a good thing they put it there.

Holly Cow! I won't rev it like that, no way. This is also why I won't buy used bikes.

The Vision only switches from 1st to 2nd decently when over 3,500 RPM. I don't like going that high. This could be why the Vision and I haven't fallen in love. I am a cruiser, not a Ricky Racer. I now own, and have owned many Japanese Cruisers, and you only need be above 2,500 RPM before you change gears.

If I reved it like that with the wife on the back, she'd want off thinking I lost my mind (again) and was pissed off at something. She hates it when I get pissed at directions, traffic, etc. when she is on back.

With the Lloyds upgrade, cams, intake plate and fuel controller, you play tag with rev limiter all day in first and second.
You have to pay close attention not to hit it, especially in first.

Ya, I know, real men are not supposed to need reverse. Where I have to park the bike is a down hill grade and I use it every morning to get up and out of the drive. It gives the engine a nice amount of warm up time as reverse is slower than great grandma gear.

Ok class, now, everyone who doesnt know what the heck these guys are talking about .... RAISE YOUR HAND.....
Reverse????????? doesnt that only come in a car?
What is a rev limiter, if it is something that limits ones ability to unnecessarily rev the engine of your motorcycle at an intersection, then by all means lets put them on all Harley Davidson motorcycles cause they are the only ones that seem to need to do this........

Why hit the rev limit? Seriously, we can break loose at 1300rpm. This bike has plenty of torque and I've just hit the pique. If you REALLY wanna get her sticky, jam your heels in the pavement and lean her side to side. Gotten rid of the "Hardley" red necks around Helkhart, KS this way. Pack riders are idiots. They wanna play but they can't keep up. Dunno that I can keep up with everyone's Hp in the short term but she held her best in the near. Got the VFCIII and high flow intake and no baffles. It was funnier with the baffles but I like the sound. I wanna keep building but it's not really worth it anymore. Too many geezers with $ to blow around their buddies. I won't run charged with or without nitrous. This has been fun but I'm not going to bother trying to keep up. They keep coming up with better polishes, boring kits, cylinders, etc.

The 5200/5500 limiter used on the Vision is nowhere close to the limits of these motors. I have run extended limiters on both my TC, and my current C-Rod. Both will spin quite happily to 6700. The TC was a daily rider that now has close to 100K on it. The bulk of those miles were put on by me, and it spent a lot of time above 6000

certainly on a tourer like the vision most folks will never realize there is even a limiter there. I've reached it a few times but find myself shifting right at 4grand when I want to get down and party, which is almost every entrance to an interstate.

With my preference style I get a lot out of the Vision and it is more than I need. I find that those who seem to want to beat me to punch and make sure I get behind them don't stand a chance because I'm already gone.

I think as time goes on we are finding just how versitile the machine is.... you can go from geezer to stud in 3.2 seconds...
