My front tire is due for its first swap (14k- mi.), and like a good gear head I always swap out my stock tires for wider tires.

Has anyone done this, and were there any issues? Also what size did you go to?

Good info, but I'm not sold on the rear tire up front. We have lots of water and sand on the roads here, so I'm looking for lots of tread that can only be found on a front tire. One of the factors in my crash a few years back was sand, and the tires inability to channel it away (performance tire with worn tread).

I'm also darksiding, and the jury is still out for me.

One thing to remember when you put a wider tire up front is that it will slow your steering down. It will require more thought and input from you to get around those twisties.

That's cool...let us know what you come up with.  Lot's of sand around here too and gravel in turns.

I believe the rear Battlax has more thread depth then most front tires, IMO it appears to have better thread cuts then the Elite 3.

too much blah blah. Give us a report on the application. I have all my reasons why I would never do this and would never run a car tire, but that doesn't keep anyone else from doing it. If you know what you are doing who cares if you put a john deere farm tractor front wheel on your bike?

Thomas, on the subject of DS or wider front tire Nem Nutz never has anything worthwhile to contribute but his negative comments like "I never would do that/this"
