Oh no.  So I go to Pentagon City yesterday and road the 120 miles as hard as I was able, I don't know why I do that. I got caught in a few slow downs, rode on U. S. 1 a few time and then finished up on 395 on in.  I'm trying to find a parking spot and while sitting at a stop sign waiting for the cars to go by in the parking lot I hit the throttle and a cloud of smoke goes by me...a familiar puff of smoke on many things that I have owned in the past. I blat the throttle again and the same thing...durn.... So now I'm thinking that I'll have to put up with smoking for another 80,000 miles before I touch the motor at 200,000.   Well, it may have just been other atmospheric conditions or something.  I've got just a little over 3,000 miles on the oil and I'm changing it this morning for another 400 mile run to the mountains today.  After I left Pentagon City I had about 5 miles of just flat out crawling traffic, even in the HOV lane.  Temp stick got up to around 300 degrees and the motor was looooooooooose, I could hear knocking like I've never heard before.  When I saw the break, I was gone, using some slick traffic handling techniques short of lane splitting.  Which by the way, I saw a wanna be 1% lane spittling on his dressed harley... if he didn't hit anybody he was good because it was tight....and illegial in our wonderful commonwealth.

Started the bike this morning to let it warm up to change the oil...and filter and not a tick or sigh.  Oil was at a good level...and no 'moke.... I see 200,000 miles...or from the old rock song from the Who... "I can see for miles and miles and miles...."

Isn't this your first run on a new oil you were posting about using not long ago? Lucas?

Yep.  All is well, hasn't done it since yesterday that one time.  Fresh oil, running like new.

Glad to hear she's still got a lot of life in her! Mine spits black smoke when she's too rich, maybe at the high engine temp that was what did it and the ECM couldn't adjust it any leaner.

I thought about the fuel mixture, it was somewhat white. I also noticed after I rode 200 miles this morning and stopped the tips didn't seem to have as much soot.

I have no concern in using Lucas oil, I changed the oil today with 10w40 motorcycle oil and the wix 51356. The clutch is working well with no slippage, also. I'm keeping an eye on the 'moking....

I have one of those from previous owner. The temp part spins when you try to unscrew the dipstick. I have to turn it with pliers by the shaft portion of the dipstick to get it loose and tight. I wish I just had a plain old dipstick.
