I am contemplating adding an ice chest for additional storage for an upcoming multi week trip. I am trying to avoid

 buying a trailer.

I did a search on this forum and did not find anything. If you made this mod can you supply pictures? I think I would

need to add some tailights to the ice chest as the OEM lights will be blocked by the ice chest. Also I want

to ensure the license plate is visible as well. I think I will need to add a trailer hitch to support the platform

which is OK with me as I will use it to fly PGR flags.

I will be riding 2 up so that takes out the box that Rollin added to his back seat. Hmm I could use a box like that vs. the ice chest.

Thanks!

I remember seeing pictures of a prototype someone was working on. It basically is a smaller version of those cargo carriers you see on the hitch of some SUV's. And just like the SUV's you would need a hitch for your motorcycle. I forget what the size of the carrier was but it should be able to fit a smaller cooler or a bag. I think I saw it on this site so hopefully someone with a better memory then myself can give more specifics.

I believe J.B.Hatch was working on something like that. Here's the thread. http://www.vision-riders.com/bb/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=11923&po...

I made an adapter to convert the HitchDoc 45ish degree receiver to a horizontal receiver. Now I can use any off-the-shelf Walmart items for 1-1/4 inch hitches. My intent was for a bicycle rack, but a hitch mount cargo carrier would work too.
The link below is the thread describing the adapter.

Whatever you come up with, please post your results. Thanks

Most people over pack. But if ya gotta have it, why spend all that time, money and aggravation getting extra storage. Just pack the extra stull you will need when you get to your destination in a box. Have UPS come pick it up and deliver it to your hotel. Ship it back when you leave for home.

I saw this on the road a couple years ago. Looks like a toolbox on a luggage carrier. no clue who makes them.
...having trouble with picture...
