2010 Gold Wing, actually I took a stand. The wife unit and I ate at the burger joint next to the Honda House and I decided to entertain myself. We took a walk over across a short field and passed two pencil thin young ladies in very short summer dresses but I never noticed. We went inside and the wife liked the caution sign Yellow Wing at the front door. She really doesn't know motorcycles and color is the reason to get one. I threw a leg up and uprighted off the kick. It felt rather light, but could feel the heavy on a lean less than the Vision. I had my butt in the seat and flat footed, but because of the height and the width of the seat, I was actually standing more than I was sitting. The pillion looked rather spacey and may be a perk for a wife unit with cargo, but as the rider, I felt tight and confined.

We walked back, satisfied that even the best is not better than the Vision.

I think that the Vision IS the best, to me, the GW is the runner up.

I bought a 1500 Wing when I was 35 or so, when the dealer handed me the keys he said "Congratulations, you are now an old man."
It sure was a nice ride, but too top heavy.

I recall when I first sat on a VV @ the motorcycle expo about 4 years ago,it tagged out @ around $ 18000.00 with everything except SIRIUS and a GPS, while the BAREBONES 'OH MY GOD WHERE'S THE MUTE SWITCH?' yellow 'wing across the display aisle, with pegs, no boards, no lowers, no driving lights, pretty much nothing on it was only listed as $350.00 less, HONDA has pretty much used the GW as a crowbar to sell you window dressing stuff that 'you just gotta have to be cool' since they discovered what Craig Vetter was doing to the early ones decades ago. The original GW today is called a VALKYRE, and I think if you gat a 2011 GW in red, silver, and yelow, people would cofuse it with the Santa Fe's old SUPER CHIEF.

Can't remember where but I read somewhere that the GW has the personality of a refrigerator and that the HD Ultra is known as a "geezer glide"-that about sums it up.

Had a chrome piece that when across the base of the windshield on my Electraglide that said "GEEZER GLIDE" Also heard them called "wind up bikes" keep riding HD and you will wind up on one.

When buying our vision I must admit we checked the Ultra Glide and GW. Hated the riding position for both bikes and totally love the Vision ride.

LIke the look better too!

After riding the Vision for a year now (11,000 miles) I find my 2003 RoadGlide small. The Vision is so much longer it's just more comfortable. Don't get me wrong I still like the RG and it does have it's own benefits, it does have more storage capacity. I've heard mentioned that Honda is gonna revamp the GW for 2012, I guess even the 1800 six cylinder was getting a little dated, I wouldn't get one but it will be interesting to see what all Honda does with that. Wonder if BMW's new 1600 six has anything to do with that, the luxury touring catagory has another player with a "big" motor.......

I will never forget the first Goldwing I ever saw in person my boss at a gas station, that sold Cam II racing fuel and leaded gas I'm old.Rode on a silver wing it was incrdible it had buttons to adjust the ride ,the stero and the seats were huge I told the boss he had the whole civic minus the doors.
He got the intercom so he and the passenger could talk, Still can't figure out why anyone wants that ??

But it was very cool.

Before GPS's, it was great. Also, when solo, music in the helmet is way more clear then open aired
speakers. I only trust factory installed, so the Vision will remain open aired. I apoligize to all the folks
that have to hear my hard rock!

The 2012 Goldwing is here. It's nothing more than the 2001 Goldwing with some mildly restyled bodywork, and "NEW FOR 2012" (from their ads) IPOD connectivity. Minor revisions to the front suspension. Updated GPS navigation system. Same old motor. No six speed tranny. No power windshield. Leg cramping foot position still standard equipment. http://powersports.honda.com/2012/gold-wing/performance.aspx

No longer assembled in Ohio. 100% Japanese manufacture and assembly.
