Hey all,

A BIG thank you out to Kevin and Ryland (sp?)! An awesome day had by all I am sure.

All the thoughts I have in my head may make for a long read...but will be worth it to those that are considering the expense.

The day started out rough for Kevin. He was unable to procure a rental car and lost a bit of sleep. But...Kevin was a great trooper and we made it work out.

Rickster was first up and Kevin began knocking out the bike quickly. While on this, Ryland pulled in on Tims' bike and began to work on it. Kevin was done nearly on time and had Rickster on the road. Ryland finished up Tims' bike and they both began working on my bike next (wasn't scheduled until Sunday morning). They knocked that one out quickly and realized that if they teamed up that they could get all 5 done in a day. So, BigWill was next and again...done fast and then on to Larrys' bike.

Now for the good stuff. Each one of us took the bike out for a quick test ride (around the block). We ALL came back with big grins. The extra power at the low end is AMAZING! I ride into my housing area in 2nd gear all the time. When I roll on the power in the last block I found that the bike was typical in power to most 1800cc or 106ci motors. It was fine (or so I thought). When I pulled in after the new cams, I rolled on the throttle with my typical twist and DAMN if I didn't roll up to my house MUCH faster than normal. WOOHOO! Big GRIN!

We were done with all of the bikes by 7pm or close to that and decided we had time for dinner at a local Old Chicago. GREAT time with those that made it! Thanks for the convo and laughs! Wish you all lived here as this would be a GREAT group to hang with each weekend!

So, since we were done early on Saturday and I didn't need to work on my bike on Sunday, I scheduled a ride over RMNP (rocky mountain national park (Trail Ridge Road)). We left a bit later than we would normally but it was a beautiful morning and we got on the road without a hitch.

We headed UP I-70 to US40 and to the park. For those not in the know, this is a climb up to 12100 feet at the top of Trail Ridge. I was the only two up rider for the day and I was asked to lead. As I rolled on the power I quickly realized that I didn't have to twist nearly as hard to get up to speed. First thing I noticed! I thought, "WOOHOO! AMAZING!"

As I rolled up 70 I found that I put it in 6th and didn't have to do near as much shifting as I had in the past. Although I did notice that the HDs with me were shifting A LOT!

We round the corners and got the base of the big climb up Trail Ridge. In just a few miles you climb almost 3500 feet. The speed limit is 35 most of the way and so 3rd gear puts you at about 1800 RPM. As I rolled around corners that dropped your speed to around 1500 RPM I found that I didn't feel the usual lugging that I did in the past causing me to downshift. I simply rolled on the throttle and could FEEL the PULL as it said, "OK...I have more ponies and torque...I DON'T CARE...LETS GO"! Trust me, I was amazed two up that I was not shifting all day like normal.

Rolled back to the home front and was happy to feel good power on the flats. I also noticed immediately that my instant MPG was higher than normal. I was usually running around 35+ at 75 and now the instant is closer to 48. My computer at the next fuel stop said 52MPG but my calc said 48. So, I am unsure if there is a difference there OR if my happy ass didn't fill it up FULL when I readied in the morning. More to come on that answer in the next few weeks.

Seriously, I was amazed at the new found power at the low end that was NOT there before! As has been said by many before me, this is a new bike and I just fell in love all over again!

I hope this helps those that are in the fence. I made the mistake of telling Kevin it was a great deal at twice the price. He tried to hold me to that and cough up more money...but I was able to outrun him. HA! Kidding! The fact is, I have seen many guys on HD's pay hard earned money for half the power and torque gain. So, as Nike says...JUST DO IT!

Hey, it was great fun and it was great to meet all you folks out there! I'll be taking that experience back with me to Iowa - so if there are any Iowans that want to do this mod get ahold of me.

I was wondering, or hoping, that Kevin would come to South Central Pa. Any chance of that in the future.

Find me 4 bikes, and a place to work out of, and I will gladly come up.
All I need is a garage, a compressor, and a pry bar. I bring the rest with me

I guess I missed the Denver CAM party as I pick up my 09 Vision next week. If there is another one schedule I am interested. I live about 20 miles south of Denver

Two things:

1. We just set this up for ourselves. Basically, Kevin can help you out. I would drop him a PM and ask him the steps. He is great for this.

2. The fact that you are buying an '09 may cause a bit of friction based on what you read. The bikes we upgraded with cams were all '08. The '09 cams have to have other parts installed. Again, talk with Kevin on this.

I guess a third point is this...I was able to get 5 people total (including me) to join in on the cam party. I would recommend if you decide to go forward to post something here and see if anybody is interested and go from there.

Sorry I can't be of more help! But KevinX will be! He is great and you will NOT go wrong with his work and sense of humor!

Rylan is an awesome Victory mechanic! Besides being the one to work on my Vision at the Denver cam party, he was the one that I selected to build out my 1999 V92C (Rusty, 104hp/109lbs - last time I checked at mile-high altitude). Yes, I took it all the way to Des Moines just to have Rylan work on it and I wasn't disappointed. Thanks Rylan and Kevin. Also, thank you Jim for putting it all together.

you talkin' to me? you talkin' to me? you talkin to me? Then who else are you talking...you talking to me? Well, I'm the only one with 52,000 miles on the clock named Chris, so I think you're talking to me.

I waiting for the stock mufflers to blow, which I think will happen around 100,000 miles, just another two years away. Then I'm going to do the S1L1 and thinking of doing the cams then. i'm too practical with this stuff that also lets me be cheeeeeap also.

Thanks again Kevin and Rylan. ALSO Thanks for the brake work. Never knew they were that bad til I got back on the bike after they were completely bled out. I replaced my baffles, dropped my octane and it made a difference in torque. She feels like she really launches now between 2 and 4k RPM. I've been tearing ass around and really got the feel for this. I wish I could have seen the look on an aquintences face (read jerk) when I blew by his King on the hwy at just over a buck THEN shifted up 6th! I didn't have much left before hitting the speed limiter but you'd never know it by the way it pulls up to that point. I'm more psyched now then when I first got it done! Too bad I'm offshore for the rest of riding season...
