So I got the rear sprocket replaced on my 2008 Victory Vision due to excessive chirping!! They ended up charging me for 2 hours labor but the material was free. Get this, it only took the mechanic 50 minutes to replace it but they still charged me two full hours of labor @ $90.00 per hour. What do you guys think of that!! Also does anyone have a e-mail address to Polaris or anyone else that might care so that I can let them know what's going on??? Thanks. 2nd concern, I have a sweak coming from my truck/rack and when I put my hand on the rack it stops!! Any thoughts. Thanks guys and happy trails.

Not to say that I like it either, but most dealers will charge the book time as well, a common practice in the maintenance industry.

As far as your sweak goes, tie a 10lb rock to the rack, that'll press it down enough to keep it away. Or, you can do a forum search and find several fixes, to include little rubber bumbers. My fix? radio wide open...

Injoy ur ride!

wait a minute this is a warranty fix of a faulty part there should not be a charge for labor under warranty. I think you got taken. My dealer has done several warranty fixes and no labor charge ever. Archie

ooops +1!

I still got my original, once the belt was properly adjusted to the new specs no more chirp or growl. Sorry, if it's warranty, contest the charges now!

I think your first line of defense is stand on the dealer while they are on the phone with the warranty people. I don't know of any other way to get that resolved. There are some who have gone through that here on the forum, so hopefully they'll chime in. Emails will get you an autoreply saying take any and all issues to your dealer first.

Warranty on a 08? Unless he bought the extended warranty, or he bought the bike new just recently the warranty is gone.

1. Hopefully you paid by check or card.... Call your bank and cancel the charge/check.
2. Call the dealer and tell him you have done so.
3. Tell them you are not paying anything until you get a call from Victory corporate so as to discuss paying for a warranted repair.
4. Wait on the phone call that will never come

This has been an ONGOING issue where Victory and/or Polaristar say they'll repair something out of the gooness of their heart that should be repaired fully under warranty. DO NOT pay a penny. Once they agree the part needs changed they are admitting it is efective and that makes it 100% warranty.

There are some corporate addresses floating in one of my posts. I sent a letter and got all kinds of good response.

Casting and machining deficiencies in the belt groove. If you are out of warranty and think it's your pulley a small dremel can sometimes smooth out the rough/high spots.

Is the squeak everyone describing show up more after the bike has been ridden for a while? My 08 started a grinding/squeak a week or so ago, originally thought rear brake might have been dusty and dragging on the rotor. After a couple hours and at low speeds I could tell that braking never changed the sound and the speed of the sound seemed relative to the speed of the wheels. Any thoughts, bearings, axle, rotors? Stopped riding at that point and dealer can not get it in till next week!

check your belt tension, that's what I had until I got the correct adjustment. a quick search on the forum should get you the info you need if you don't have the book.
