| Good mornin all.
Haven't posted in a while. Since I have Blacked out all the panels on my 08 vision,only grey left is the oh S@@T rear grab bars. My question is has anyone did anything with the the lowers as far as painting or wraping them so they are black to blend in with the black of the bike.

Tri Cities, WA | I have not seen any black ones yet. I was thinking of buying the lowers for my vision and then have them tinted black so it blends better into the bike. Cant find any tinters locally to do it yet. |

Rockford, IL | They are just plastic or lexan and can be painted very easily. Simple scuff with a scuff pad and lay a few coats of paint. Probably best to paint the backside of them, this will keep the paint from getting chipped up by rocks and sand. If you don't feel confident doing them yourself any local collision shop can easily do them at a very reasonable cost. |

guelph ontario | I have had the rear passenger grap rails painted black to match as I think they look better than the grey stock colour-too bad they dont have them in chrome -yet??? |

Montreal, QC Canada | I painted mine black and you don't even notice they are there. To get them off, you have to remove pretty much all of the rear of the bike. I did it with them on, just covered and taped everything. I don't think we will go with chrome even if they do offer it.

Richmond, Virginia | The rear grabs wont be available in chrome because they are plastic and not metal based. I understand that you R E A L L Y have to want to change them badly,if you are willing to dismantle the rear end just to get them off. Personally, i think from an artistic perspective, they add balance to the rear of the bike. Without them or with them indvisible, the bike looks more un balanced. Victory does make a cover kit for anyone who wants them totally removed and there is a plastic covering that does a nice job of making the bolt areas nonexistent. |

Richmond, Virginia | crap sorry, i forgot why i originally posted. I have a black street premium with lowers. Honestly, you dont really notice the lowers
on the black frame. I think they look cool, and would consider painting the black as one more item that I would have to baby with dirt, rocks, flying debris, etc. They are well worth the money in benefit, I just cant believe that having them clear is really REALLY
a big hairy deal. |

Winter-St. Augustine Fl. Summer-Blind River Ont. C | I thought I should put my two cents in on the rear grab handles. I just finished taking mine off the bike and it took all of about 20 minutes. No you don't have to disassemble the rear of the bike!!! If you open the saddlebag doors you can unbolt the 4 -10 mm bolts holding the lock mech. and the latch mech. Easy to get to. After that is out you can use a 12mm (I think) box end wrench to undo the front nut on the handle. Put a rag under it so you don't loose the nut when it drops. Now the trick! I took a hacksaw blade out of the hack saw and just trimmed the corners of the two plastic bosses that hold the nut clips for the lock and latch mechinism. I only trimmed about 1/8" off so I could swing a box end wrench to loosen the rear nut on the handle which hides behind the two middle bosses. Again put a rag under it so you don't loose it. Putting the rear one back on might be fun. Guess I will get my better half's little digits in there. Lots easier than taking the covers off and the inside of the bags out. Just to show there is always a quicker way if you are determined. |

O'Neill, Nebraska | I was looking in a catalog at our Vic dealer and it looks like you can get the upper deflectors in chroms. Are the lowers also available in chrome? Chrome always looks better than clear plastic. If they did this I'd consider adding them...but they just mess up the lines of the bike for my. Just my opinion; however I know that many of you guys absolutely love them. |

Stacy,Mn | This is how I took off the rear grab handles
I took my handles off by using a socket and a pair of pliers on the front nut and on the back nut I drilled a small pilot hole (bit size)to line up on the rear nut and then opened it up with a step bit to remove the nut ( about a 5/8 hole) .Took about 10 minutes. Afterward I covered the holes with plastic plugs and silicone.
If you wont to chrome them, Try a search for (Coat of Chrome)

Centerville , Utah | Had auto body paint wind deflectors black. I also had the same guy tint my yellow turn signals with paint. They look great. I'm in the process of dipping my rear handles with a carbon fiber film. Had this process done with center console and speedo cover. I will try to attach pics. |

I was wondering what to do with the speedo cover besides paint it, I have seen the carbon cover for the dash but I believe that was a stick on process |
