No, not on the bike, at the office.

The resident Harley rider, I think he rode about 5 times last year, was talking with my cube neighbor and said something in response to some he didn't like to do, but loud enough for me to hear. He said, "That would be like me riding a Victory." My immediate response was "And we wouldn't see you for days because you wouldn't want to stop riding it!" He laughed and didn't have much more to say.

The other day I was talking with someone else about the showroom comfort of the Vision and the fact it didn't need thousands of dollars in upgrades for seats or lowering like Harleys. The Harley guy quipped, "Not mine, it came that way already set-up." I'm like "Oh yeah? new off the showroom?" He then confessed, "Oh, no, mines a '99, the guy before me had it already done when I bought it, it only cost me $18,000". He's had it about it two years.

as I said...chatter...

I tell Har de har riders to please, do not ride a VISION. 'why?' because the first thing you'll do when you get off the VISION is to go kick that Harley right square in the tank!

I came out of a gas station and a guy is telling his wife why he likes his Harly better. I told him to go ahead and sit on it when he did he was amazed how it felt but said it felt to heavey for his taste. Then told his wife to get on. Her reply "I already am" He looks over his shoulder and without thinking says "Oh thats why it feels heavy." You should have heard the slap to the back of his head. Had a good conversation with them after I quit laughing they could not believe that it was a stock bike and what I paid for it.

A friend of mine is a salesman at a HD dealer here in Oklahoma, today I dropped by for a little while to harrass he and his boss. Another Victory rider who knew who I was and we were talking because his friend was looking at a HD. My friend came walking by with the man who was looking at the HD and I said to him, Ron your not going to sell him a Harley are you? A few moments later he started a streed glide and after he shut it off I started looking under the bike and Ron asked me what are you doing? I replied waiting to see how much oil runs out of it. We all know HD's have leaks, but my Victory doesn't leak at all. The man looking at the HD was headed to look at a CC after he left the HD dealership. I'm not sure he may have a new CC in the garage tonight. The salesman he also sold me my first Vision.

OUCH! A '99 and he paid $18000??? WTH. Since he's had it for 2 years, that would be like going out and getting a 2001 today, a used bike, a bike with mileage, a bike someone else broke the saddle in, a bike someone else farted in the saddle, a 10 year old bike and paying $18,000 friggin dollars? And he thinks Victory riders are stupid??? My new leftover 2009 VVTP was only $17,000 before my trade! Now, who actually got the better deal? Bonehead is all I have to say. He is probably a lib too and voted for Obozo!

Know matter how hard you try to match wits a harley rider you just can't beat them. There a narrow mind antique thinking. I have 2 dozen guys I ride with and there all harley riders and they just don't believe I would trade my new one in on a vision. Its taken harley twenty one years to get a quality motor. Even though its a carburetor motor converted to EFI. There still in the dark ages on styling and all the other motorcycle copnays are growing around them in style and performance.
I can't believe that harley is not going to change this year or next. To survive they have to change. Harley bought a Italian motor company to have a big horsepower bike but harley being broke had to sell it back for a few million dollar loss.
Then watch they will not change to much. Harley rides can't admit they don't have a good bike.

Things H-D riders don't want to hear or try to avoid discussing;
SHOWA factory front forks made by HONDA
EFI unit made in KOREA
Factory stock BRIDGESTONE of JAPAN tires
'so, let's talk about your 'American made' motorcycle'

APRILLA is a nice if fairly temperamental steed, and if you break something, you can't just drop by the local POOP BOYS and pick up 'something that will work'

And here's one that will stump them, what American built car has the most U.S. content?

NISSAN ALTIMA.

Went to a MC show this past weekend and couldn't get off of the bike before someone was asking how I liked the Vision. Within minutes another Vision rider pulled up and he tells about his experience when looking for a bike. He took an Ultra Classic out and after it broke down twice on the ride he swore it off. Tried the Vision and was instantly sold on it. Unfortunately I had to let him know that he shouldn't expect to find many goodies at the show to add on to it. The Victory display was much busier than I've seen at past shows.

As usual, today I was approached by someone else asking about the bike, but there was a twist. He was wearing an HD jacket. After a minute or so he points to the jacket and starts talking about how much money he has spent to keep it running. He was the most honest HD rider that I've experienced expressing his dissatisfaction with it.

True, not all VV stories are lined in gold, but I believe the satisfaction numbers far out weigh the competition.

Just tell the HD riders to get on their bike and you will get on yours and we will see how will get off first. This normally shuts them up.

NISSAN ALTIMA.

Where the heck are you getting you information? Nissan vehicles don't even make into the top ten for highest domestic index. I will give the Altima credit, it has a domestic index of 65% twice that of Nissans avreage

On average Nissans contain less than 30% US manufactured parts while GM, Ford, and Chrysler are north of 60% with Honda at about 55%

Ford F-Series USA 85%
Chevrolet Silverado USA 90%
Toyota Camry USA 80%
Dodge Ram USA 74%
Honda Accord USA 70%
Honda Civic USA 70%
Chevrolet Impala CANADA 92%
Dodge Grand Caravan ? SWB USA 83%
Nissan Altima USA 65%
Chevrolet Cobalt USA 75%
Toyota Corolla USA 75%
GMC Sierra USA 90%
Ford Focus USA 60%
Ford Explorer USA 80%
Chevrolet Malibu USA 80%
Honda Odyssey USA 70%
Ford Mustang USA 60%
Toyota Tacoma USA 70%
Chevrolet TrailBlazer USA 85%
Chevrolet Tahoe USA 67%

Didn't anticipate going down the worm hole of which one is more American than the other, who gives a rats patuty. Victory has more metric sizes than Harley and I've seen motorcycle shows that discreminate that way. You'll see the categories of American Bikes and Metrics and they'll put Victory in the Metric category. As you can see the only ones the Harley's are competting against is themselves and custom choppers.

By the way, I drive American based vehicles, Chrysler, Jeep, Victory, I'm not going to get into the percent crap. I see way too many Harley stickers in the back of Toyota's and I even work with Hoggers that bragg how American their bike is and then drive foreign cars.

I do agree with dr_reloader on how to determine who makes the better bike.

Cars are like ass holes we all own one.
Bikes are the life that gets us up in the morning and gives us a smile when we put are head on the pillow.
The reason victory is metric cause all cars are there for more parts. Harley has plenty of metric bolts and parts they have for a long time.
There just to dumb to know it.

AP is full of crap then. The Wrangler is about 85% domestic. Nice part about buying a domestic is, not only does it usually contain more American made parts, most of the engineering work is done in the US as well.

There are lot of advantages when buying US besides Domestic Index. Most people just don't consider who is doing all the engineering and management work.

Being a Michigander Transplant to the Pacific Northwest, I have found that most left coasters are oblivious to the workings of the automotive industry and often rather miss informed about it.

What you drive, literally does drive America.

I couldn't disagree more on that statement.

The domestic makers employ three times the Americans import makers do combined...

How many of all you USA made fanatics own some form of Japanese electronic devices. I bet eveyone does own some. Its a world market and manufacturing system now. There is no more pure stuff from one country, except perhaps cheese.

You can't win all your battles but you can certainly pick and choose the ones that matter most and make the most difference. For me thats buying American as often as possible. I am no old timer, I am 32 and value my right to buy American as often as possible even when is cost me an extra few bucks.

I value my country, its manufacturing system, its engineering and R&D and thus I buy, drive, and ride American.

I have a Nissan built in Tn., so would that be American made or would the Dodge Ram my father owns that was built in Mexico be? I try to buy American MADE as much as possible, but as stated it is a global market. As for the op, HDs are NOT bad bikes. There is alot to be said for the history and the advances to motorcycleing as a whole made by the Co. When I had my Sportster I could walk in and get an instsant service as an example. It's just that Victory builds a better bike. Now if they could only duplicate the level of service in the dealerships.

I don't know what all this talk about where junk youall buy has to do with chatter, but I can say all my HD buddies at work are doing everything in their power not to acknowledge the fact that me and one other goldwing rider are the only ones so far to start riding to work since the snow melted this week in Indy! I can tell it's killing them........... And I can't stop grinning! ;-)
