| Don't ask me why I am thinking about this now, guess I do not have much else to do on the bike. I am trying to figure out where to plug my heated vest into. I have the Vic vest so I think its Gerbing that makes them. I know I need to install a powerlet somewhere, but where? If I mount on the handle bars, it would not be easy to plug a vest in there. I was thinking on putting an outlet on the upper rear mother mount. Where has other mounted thier's? Also, once I mount the powerlet, what the heck do I need to plug in the vest. Thanks for any thoughts. |

Pitt Meadows, BC Canada | I had my dealer install two matching connections before delivery. He has one hidden but accessible right at the front of the seat, and another for the passenger exiting right where the controls for the heated seats are. TIP: I have a matching plug wired for my battery tender and just plug it into either of these connections. |

Lynnwood, WA | I just picked up my new Vision last night and asked the same thing of the dealer. He suggested the accessory plug in the storage compartment on the left of the tank. There is plenty of room for the wire to exit at the front of the lid, or you could file a small half circle in the same area of the lower plastic part, to keep from putting too much pressure on the lid. I will probably do that...
You will need a BMW adaptor for your vest/jacket, though.

Tucson, AZ | I ran mine from the battery, up along the left side of the frame. If you take the seat off you will see kind of a tunnel between the frame and the left side storage compartment. When i got the connector to there i slid a coat hanger through the tunnel, taped the connector to it and pulled it through. There is enough room to tuck the connector just under the left side of the seat.

| I plug mine in just below the radio display, next to my headset plug for the CB/Intercom. Momma's plug in is on the right side of the Tour Pack. works great and came that way from the dealer! |

Boydsville, AR United States | What Bill said. I bought the kit from my dealer. The templates are included to drill the radio plate, and the harnes is right below ready to plug in. Also the harnes in the back for the wife unit. Kit comes with 2 female plugs.

You want the plugs where they are easy to plug/unplug for both Pilot and Co-Pilot - but out of sight - not running across the tank or hanging out the side. Take another look at the photos - we use these connections all winter - but they are hard to see.

Peachtree City, GA | My bad. I thought you had used the Victory accessory plugs... The ones you would have to drill a hole for. BTW those are different then what my Gerbings take. Maybe the Victory heated clothing is different. Thanks |

Pitt Meadows, BC Canada | The plugs I used are standard on most accessories. My electric vest is 18 years old, my co-pilot's is 1 year old - and both use the same connection. And you can buy them at just about any hardware store. The ends in the photos have a protective plug on them to keep them clean, but basically 2 prong - one 'outie' and one 'innie'. My dealer just purchased the "battery to plug" pieces and installed them for me. I purchased an extra one and rigged up my battery tender with a plug - just plug the tender into one of the jacks and viola - instant battery charge. |

It is hot all of the time, so I made a plug to fit my battery tender, and that is where I plug it into. No bending down to get at the battery to plug it into. |

Either of you, donetracey or wseemann - So there have been no issues will the power requirement of heated clothing? I seem to have a collection of Gerbing pieces going - Sock, Gloves, Union Ridge jacket and pants and a jacket liner... I am thinking I am really only going to need the jacket liner with the Vision...
On my Hammer and VTX that was another story. The coldest I have ridden before getting the Vision is 17 degrees

Boydsville, AR United States | The alternator is 45 Amp if I remember correctly. and no you will not need much heated garmets. I use just a thin pair of gloves with the heated grips. My wife has a heated pair of gloves, and now wants a pair of paints as her knees get cold. I'm just fine up front, but I'm warm blooded. |

one and it is velcroed in the glove box on left. Used a bmw to coax adapter to plug it in there
and run that through the hole in the bottom of the box(just lift up the rubber pad in bottom. This just
guides along under the cover in front of the seat and comes out under the lip of the seat on right side
When not used it just tucks in nicely betwedn the seat and top of the metal cover- theres a sort of groove
there that works like it was made for it. When I plug in, I just reach near my inner thigh find the plug and mate
it to the jacket plug, set the temp in the glove box and ride off with the wires almost invisible and they only lay across the
vinyl.

Barefoot Bay, FL United States | Why aren't you just plugging it into the outlet in the compartment on the left side? You can get the adapter at any Vision dealer and just plug it in. There is enough give to the door so that it will close with a small cable runing out by the doorway, at the back by the seat.

Jasper, MO | I just bought two extension cords and plugged into the existing outlets on the bike. I ran mine through the grommet in the glove compartment, under the radio console, and up between the bottom of the console and the front of the seat. Hers I just ran down through the CB radio tunnel in the base of the trunk and up by the back of the seat. I ran both while I had the seat off. Very quick and easy to do. I do think I will eventually install permanently mounted controllers/jacks on the bike for a little more clean and handy solution, but the way I did it works well and was quick, cheap, and easy. You will definitely want a controller between the power source and the vest. We are currently using portable controllers that we can use on any of our bikes, but I'll probably eventually put dedicated permanently mounted controllers on the Vision. We will have a little less wire external to the bike to deal with that way.

If I am thinking of the correct location that your taking about... That is where my intercom connection is. I wonder if there is another location on the other side? I guess I will just need to order them and figure it out...

Boydsville, AR United States | I'm sorry, RIGHT side, not the left. Your right, the comm set up is there. It is super easy to install, I used a unibit, but you can get a hole saw the size that is in the instructions that come with the plug kit. |
