Grand Cane, LA | My brother and I are planning a trip to Yellowstone National Park in August and were wondering which would be a better trip to come in on the eastern loop or the southern loop. We will be riding all the way from Shreveport, Louisiana to Yellowstone and back. I know both ways have lots of mountain views. Also, any good stops along the way that you have seen or been to if you've made the trip yourself. I know there has got to be a few on here that have been. |

Rancho Cucamonga, CA | If you can pull it off, the North-east entrance is the way to go. Beartooth Pass is awsome. Try to do a loop, go in thru the Grand Tetons (stopping at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, Jackson Hole WY) and out thru Beartooth Pass. I rode all over Yellowstone for 3 days, and Beartooth Pass is my fondest memory. |

Rancho Cucamonga, CA | If you do go thru NE entrance, you can route it by 'The battle of Little Bighorn' site. I didn't think it would be all that interesting, but I was wrong. I had a great time there. |

Tucson, AZ | Planning a similar trip in mid June. Only coming from Tucson, up thru Utah, Idaho, Montana for Bear Tooth then into the park. Will have about 4 days in the area, then back to Utah, Flaming Gorge, into Colorado, New Mexico, and back to Tucson. Heck I'm ready to leave now.....

| Do the Beartooth and trurn around and run from Yellowstone as fast as you can...  No it's not that bad but the tourist traffice will drive you nuts on a bike...watch the guys pulling campers I nearly bit it, was hit twice last trip thru there. My wife says we'll never do that again...Guess i agree...

Grand Cane, LA | These suggestions are sounding pretty great. Figured it up and it looks like it will takes about 2 1/2 days to get there. Mind you, my brother and his friends are all Harley riders so I figured in an extra half day for all the stopping we will be doing just to fill up and for them to get un-saddle sore along the way. He! He! My brother has ridden my bike and talks about how comfortable it is but he still insists on owning a Harley. He has a very nice custom '09 Roadglide but it cost him like $30,000 for the stuff he has done to it and it still not comfortable enough to ride more than 500 miles at any one time. Go figure! |

Grand Cane, LA | Chesshiretuna, I hope all that snow is gone by the time I go in August. I'm comfortable riding on most any surface, but I haven't had the chance to ride on snow covered mountains yet. Don't have an abundance of those here in Louisiana! |

Iowa | Beartooth is a must. You gotta make that ride. I did this run 2 years ago in late August. Came in through the south end, and came out NE taking Beartooth. Chief Joseph is a must also. The temps could drop into the 40's up at the top, but you'll find 90 degrees at the bottom. Be ready for a great memory. |

Akron Ohio area | The roads are clear of snow by the first week of July for sure.
It may snow on you, but it won't stick to the road.
Keep in mind that they don't patrol Beartooth Pass after 5 pm. |

Grand Cane, LA | Well sounds like Beartooth Pass will definitely be part of the trip around. Still haven't decided how long we will stay in the area, but it's looking like it will be at least 3 days to cover most of the roads for the scenery. Thanks guys for all the suggestions. |

Big Sky | The Beartooth pass was just voted by the AMA as the most scenic high way in America. It really is a cool ride! Literally, bring a worm coat It mite snow in August. |

Salt Lake City | I agree with all, and also recommend Chief Joseph highly. Beautiful scenery. The park has 40 mph speed zones, no matter the traffic; so just sit back, stop at lots of pull-outs(including the fire hole river!) and enjoy the parks beauty. I know the area pretty well, so just pm me if you are looking for a few extras, given you have the time. Should be an awesome trip! Ride safe, dude.

| Its the one good thing a president Teddy Roosevelt did for us making all the beautiful country parks so the land developers couldn't ruin them.
They say if you go when school is back in session motor homes are less but with the price of gas you might have to deal with bicycles by the hundreds.
I can see it now after the first day of riding the harley guys are going to try and trade rides with you. |

Springfield, TN | My wife and I went from Nashville to YST in June of '08 on our 1 month old VV... Beartooth had reopened less than 1 week before we got there. It was 84 F in Laurel when we started up and 55 F at the top... Do not pass up the opportunity to get the T-shirt that says "I got my A$$ over Beartooth Pass!" and like rdeerx said a bison will go anywhere and do anything he wants...
