Been looking around at exhaust systems (Big Honkers, Thunder Cones, Atom Bombs, Witchdoctor, RPW). Which pipes give the performance while also having good sound

The ones you like the best. Check out You Tube. Lots of sound/video recordings there of various pipes.

your not going to pick up that mush power. There all about the same. The only way your going to get power is with cams.
Pipes might give you 5 to 7 horse thats if you add top air filter.

Drill out the stickers. Sounds great and its cheap! Hole saw and 24" extension cuts the baffle plate out nicely.

It is the top air intake, Lloyd has a newer model out now. I would like to see some postings with the new adjustable air intake and a set of D&D pipes. I know Lloyd is now a dealer for D&D so I have to believe they are on the short list of top performers.

Pipes might give you 5 to 7 horse thats if you add top air filter.

And the extra 5 to 7 horsepower comes from the top filter, even with stock pipes. Stock pipes aren't restrictive--just quiet. Cams, top intake filter, and fuel controller are good for a 30% power increase--stock exhaust or aftermarket.

If on a budget, do the top intake filter and a VFCIII and poke a hole in the stock mufflers or put Thrush mufflers on for sound. Add VM1 cams when you get serious. Add Lloydz reprogrammed ECU to top it off.

A piece of steel pipe angle cut to a sharp point and a BFH is cheaper and easier and faster. Does the same thing--puts a big hole in the inner baffle plate. I used to do it to my Japanese sport bikes. My Vision is staying quiet, but if I wanted to listen to all that noise I would get out my piece of pipe and 3 pound hammer.

I have Big Honkers. Sounds good when you get on it, but not too loud for a 400 mile ride.
Much better than the S1L1 I had.

Sound: CFR's and Thunderheaders sound great and not too loud. Performance is really in fuel controller, cams and free flowing air cleaners.

Love my thunderstix. A tad loud when going for long Multi day rides. I'll live with it. Sounds tough.

In Vancouver, they are IMPOUNDING bikes with LOUD pipes - heavy fine to get your bike back. Harley boys are suffering big time.

Keep in mind it might happen in YOUR town someday. And keep in mind it might happen in some place you are driving thru.
