I e-mailed Lloyd and he will be doing cams along with the dyno at the AVR in August.  He says that the morning slots are best for cam upgrades.  (I blocked the very first slot - 9:00 on Thursday  .)  Something to look forward to and save up for if you aren't in on a cam party in the next four months.

Click on the Lloydz link on the right margin of the Vision-Riders homepage and go to his calendar to schedule an appointment.  Can't wait to have it done by the master himself!

I am hoping to attend the AVR this year. I am in Korea so I'll miss Sturgis but I should be back in time for AVR. I figure it would be a great opportunity for a first ride (mini vacation) with my lovely wife. She has been holding down the fort while I have been away. She deserves a break as well.

I would love to snag one of these appointments. We'll have to see.

Jim,

AVR is Thurs/Fri/Sat, August 19-21 in Spirit Lake, IA.

I've never been to a rally of any kind before so have nothing to compare it to.  Lots of others here would know.

I have been to the American Victory Rally 5 or 6 times. The town of Spirit Lake is very Quaint, actually is a resort town because of the lake. The last few years it has grown, but still is a small rally that the factory workers put on with some help from the VMC and is supported by Vendors. Lloyd is the premier Vendor. I would go up just to have him tune my bike on his dyno, weather it needed it or not.

I tried to block an appointment for cams/dyno. I am not sure if it took or not. I emailed Lloydz but haven't heard back yet. How long does cams/dyno get blocked off for? Maybe I should just call him? Just not as easy to do from Korea.

Ok does anyone have a different number than this one (845) 744-4889. I tried calling it via Skype and first time it sounded like a fax machine, then it was busy, then no answer, then busy. I can't wait until I get back to the states.

Nevermind, I got through.

Songfan, I await your trip and return! I would love to hear how it runs first hand. Been contemplating it myself. I presume you will be getting the controller, cams, intake and filter? You already have the S1L1. I thought I had heard if you were running stock (like myself) minimal improvement without upgrade the exhaust.

So, I wait patiently.

You have me worried Pollolittle! I am booked for cams with Kevinx May 15...and am running stock pipes. I like the bike quiet so am good with stock but you imply that unless I do at least S1L1 that the cams will not give the kick that I am hoping for!

Hey Po,

Yes, I have the S1L1 with the gunner tips so should be the best set-up for the full upgrade.  I'll be riding up with VisionTex and he had KevinX do the upgrade a few months ago said I will like the extra power.  I'm not real aggressive in the upper RPMs but will be nice to have it when I need it.

What I'm really looking forward to is Travelin Man's custom tips.  I'll be near the head of the line when those things become available!  I'll sell you my gunner tips cheap!

AFGoalie, I had the same feeling when I booked my slot on Lloydz calendar.  I closed out the page and went back to it again and the time I picked was blocked out so I guess it went through.  I'd probably follow up with an e-mail to Lloyd just to make sure your slot has your name on it.  No way to tell for sure from our end.

Jim, talk to Kevin about the stock set-up.  You might have to make a tough decision.

Kevinx did my upgrade a couple of weeks ago and I am running stock pipes and there is a BIG difference in power. The rev limiter comes into play in first and second really quick now but after about 1,500 miles with the new cams I don't regret it. Can't wait to get a good day to go to the north Ga mountains and really get to play with it!!!

Feeling a bit better now Joker...thanks! But I did a PM to Kevin anyway- good ideas Songfan. I get a lot of noise blowback pulling the trailer even from stock pipes so extra pipe volume would just get in the way of the tunes on the iPod but the extra horses are needed for interstate with the trailer and 6th.... I was staying in 5th for reg. hiway.

Songfan, I'd love to have a set of "REALLY CHEAP" Gatlin Tips. Just ask the Guys at FRS. Keep me in mind if you plan on getting rid of them.

Jim, I had asked this ? earlier, because I was wanting to spring for the cams, but decided against it due to the information provided to me at the time. Really wasn't looking to spend another 300 -500 hundred on top of 1000. This hobby gets spendy in a hurry.

Post up what info you get back, like to hear what he says.

Kevin's comments were that as Joker pointed out, the cams work well with stock pipes. He added that the low/mid is STRONGER with stock than the S1 and that a couple of top end HP will be lost but pulling the trailer will never be the same . - This last statement from Kevin makes me feel a lot better! The trailer is a full tent trailer and about 300 plus lbs. full holiday weight.  OK, now no excuses Po.... time to cam up! ( or is that Pony Up?) See you in Minot on the 15th?

The low/ mid range is where I play anyway. Rarely do I run it up around 5K.
Thanks Jim for putting that up there, maybe I was reading wrong that day. Or maybe he stated that you get all the benefit from a livelier exhaust.

I think that every bit helps is a great philosophy but also way expensive! I tried to find the performance filter and box on Pure Polaris but no can find without the full S1L1 kit! Any part #s for the performance filter or are they 'all' performance filters?? (K&N was a no go....) Any pony is a good pony!

I guess this begs the question, "What do those of us who already have the filter do when it is time to replace it?"

After waiting for 10 min. and NOT clicking a bunch, I finally got into the performance section from PurePolaris and had it load. There is a filter available. Part # 2876628 for $65.99 Canadian. Can't order on line 'cause I'm a foreigner.... (Mastercard does work here too!). I guess I will call the stealer and order. That is One more Pony! Gonna have to get it Dynoed after the Cam party. Would like to do it to see what I am at without the cams. ( the before and after effect...)

I called and spoke to someone at Lloydz. My appointment did go through but there were some blanks that I filled in over the phone and with an email. I am scheduled for CAMS and Dyno. Even after the call I wasn't totally clear on how long each appointment was blocked for but she did mention that LLoyd was bringing in a "team" to assist with all the extra volume.

I still question the system in use for blocking appointments. I seriously doubt CAMS and Dyno can be completed in 1 hour even with a team. With that said I am not really worried, I am sure they will figure it out. If not, I have dibs since I am coming the furthest for the Cams.

It is a cleanable filter that does not need to be replaced

Not to worry af_goalie, Lloyd will have Adam with him and he's top notch. Adam will probably be putting in the cams and then afterward, Lloyd will dyno & tune. They can work independently. Also, the dyno signup block have enough wiggle room for some to take longer than others. I'd get to LLoyds dyno earlier than your time slot just in case Adam is free to start wrenching. In any event, they have the cam change down to a science!

Lloyd and Adam are a good team. The time goes by really fast, but most of the fun will be when Lloyd loads your baby up on the dyno warms her up and then starts the runs. You will be all smiles...what better way to spend your time at the AVR. There will be a bunch of VV friends around to shoot it with...or there might be somebody getting a bottle. Now that's a dyno you want to watch, nothing better than a Victory motor up on the dyno on the bottle, WOW! "Giddy Up".

E-mail Lloyd for prices.  09/10's cost more than 08's.
