How do you remve the panels that are under the seat? I opened the saddlebag and there looks to be a clip and then two bolts under the seat behind the motor. Tried to pry the clips but the wont budge and dont want to break them. How do I get these off??

Thanks,
Shane

Remove the two pins with a small screw driver, the middle part pulls out and then you can remove them Then all you have to do is pry the covers off.

Those aren't bolts under the seat behind the motor. They are push pin retainers. To remove them you need to pull out the center "pin" that looks a bit like a nail. Just take a small screwdriver and slide it under the edge of the center pin and pull the pin out an inch or so, it won't pull all of the way out. Then pull on the outer "ring" of the retainer and it will pop right out. You will see that the panels don't butt up to each other, one overlaps the other, I believe the left (drivers) side overlaps the right.

Remove the seat. Open the saddlebags. This isn't truly neccessary but if you lay the bike on the tipovers the job will be a teeny bit easier, especially the drivers side panel. And if you are doing this so you can install exhaust the tipover route will make the task much easier.

There are two "tension studs" on the panels. They are pretty snug and take a fair amount of pressure to get them to let loose. One is located at the rear "wing" of the panel. When you open the saddlebag you see the what looks like a clip, this is one of the studs. Sneak your fingers in behind the panel and give it a tug by this clip and it will let loose, be careful ya don't land on your backside. The other tension stud is located towards the front top, you can't get at it like you can the rear one. But once you have the rear stud loose you can "rotate" the panel "outwards" and the stud will "roll out" from the clip.

When it comes time for reinstallation you simply line up the front stud and give it a slight shove and the stud will pop back into the clip and the same for the rear stud. As far as the push pin retainers you leave the center pin extended out and you push on the outer ring and once you get the outer ring pushed flush up against the panel then you push the center pin in.
