I was on the bike this afternoon after stopping for lunch and just riding -- going nowhere. Coming into Mechanicsburg the traffic was pretty heavy but moving along 35 to 40 MPH. I did not pay attention to the guy pulling out of a drive on the left and he apparantly did not see me so as I approached he apparantly had an opening and pulled into my lane. As he pulled in front of me I was braking and he approached the turn so square it looked as if he was not going to turn at all and just come accross in front of me. He was moving along fast. I moved into the shoulder and was well aware of the rocks and gravel and my reduced ability to brake on that surface. He turned hard and I came to a nead stop before gewtting back on the road. He was driving a few year old Buick with Fraternal Order of Police and Honor our War wounded stickers on the Back. I blew my horn a few times and pulled up along side of him blew my horn looked down through the passesgers window and he did not akcowdge me. I was getting angry and wondered if he was drinking. I kept following him and followed him into a Tavern/Restaurant parking lot where he was meeting his wife. I was gong to call the police and I saw him get out of the car. I asked him if he knew he ran me off the road. He initially denied it and I just looked ar him and said I am not looking for anything but to make him aware of how lucky I was that I was not injured. He walked over and put his hand out and appoligized. That was all I was looking for. Besides I realize that I am getting closer to buying a Buick as the years go on. The LaCrosse just might be pretty comfortable.

Wheww! Glad he didn't shoot you, Enjoy the LaCrosse! Glad his moment of kind humanity kicked in and just shook hands like a man, and manned up to what he had done, with a hearty apology. Sometimes, there are moments that surprise you and let you know we're all in this TOGETHER.

I am kind of afraid of Buicks.

I had a Buick turn left in front of me. I hit the front of the car and flew about 20 feet. That was also my first ride to the hospital.

That happened on October, Friday the 13th about 15 years ago. Friday the 13th is both my worst and best day of riding.

hmmm, I first thought you said BUCKs and the day you first post this I got into the middle of some small deer on a back country road. They seem to keep coming, but fortunetly I never made contact with any of them.

As far as Buick's go, I always watch for them, as well as chevy's, ford's, toyota's, and especially Escalades with young women drivers talking on cell-phones and doing their make-up. Not trying to be sexist or anything like that, but over the course of riding in the past 5 years, I have nearly been run over by escalades about 5 times and they always have had women driving distracted. One lady got mad at me because I pulled up beside her and told her to hang up the phone after she pulled in front of me turning off a side street without looking. Her response? rolled up her window so I wouldn't bother her call.

When I see an escalade I usually stay away from them.

VaRider, a women in an Escalade pulled out in front of us on the way home from AVR. We were turning off the road and into a short road to access a gas station. I watched the whole thing. She was on her cell and tring to get her seatbelt on. I stopped dead and watched her pull in front of me and when she finally saw me she gave me an angry look like I did something wrong.
