90 degrees out and I've hung around the house all day. Decided to make my flag mounts today and will post pictures soon. Had to come in and cool off since I'm a shade tree mechanic anyways. Had to catch up on the oil thread which has turned me against ever changing my oil ever again. I think I'll just pop of the filter and put on a new one and use MMO, as it has to be the best. I like the red too so it should make my Midnight Cherry even faster, faster.

I've got maybe $30.00 invested and some muscle, but it will turn out fairly good, especially after I clean them up some and get them chromed. Used some 3/4 angle, some 3/8 u-clamps, 3/8 threaded rod 1', and some acorn nuts for the end. I figured how to mount to the luggage rack on the tour pack and the Steet rack as well, and it comes out nice. I just need to get my flags as I want to run 10X15 but most of those are parade, I want highway flags that size. The one's I found so far are just 6X9 and that is too small in my opinion.

Anyway, standby, catch up on the oil bash we're having, drinks are on the house, Dr. Pepper, Diet Mountain Dew, you know, the hard stuff. Sit back and relax.

Just a thought, but wouldn't 10x15 flags put a lot of pressure on the luggage rack. Considering that at highway speeds the flapping of the flags could put more stress on the luggage rack screws on the tour pack then say a 15-20 lb bag that just sit there. I have two 6x9 and my S/O says she can feel them flutter at highway speeds. Like I said just a thought I could be all wrong.

Very valid point BJ and I'll keep an eye on it. As you, I hope others will throw their thoughts and experience out as well. Based on the current design of the brackets I would say they would cup air and put more stress on the luggage rack than the flags. Howevery, I think the aerodynamics doesn't have that affect as when I raised the windshield at full speed the flag actually went dormant for a few seconds and then blew around and went dormant, repeating that cycle. When I lowered the shield it went back to flappin' steady, so I think it is just on the edge of the air stream.

Pictures and instructions will be in the tech area soon.

Makes sense, with the windshield fully raised the slipstream could go up over the top and miss the flags. Unless it's raining my windshield is seldom fully raised. Are you running the standard windshield or have you upgraded?

I'm running with the taller shield at the moment, only because I've not switched it back to stock for the summer. My wife rides sometimes when it is chilly and the taller shield makes it better for her. I ALWAYS ride with the shield down when I solo. I'm ready for the stock one now.

By the way, the pics are posted in the tech forum now.
