I just put my A-B's on & was wondering what you all that have done this mod did to seal the tip to the rear of the muffler. I have stock tips & they sleeved over the outlet of the original muffler to direct the exhaust through the tip. Now, with the new cores, exhaust gas is escaping around the heat shield as the new cores & tip have a small gap 1/8"- 3/16". I rode it home 20 miles & there is already soot build up on the outside of the tip. Any tips / ideas will be appreciated.

Permatex copper it's heat resistant to over 700 deg.

I took a couple of pieces of thin sheet metal and cut them into squares. Loosend the rear clamp and sllid them into place. Seems to have taken care of the problem. I need to readjust one of them, noticed some discoloration on the plastic.

Thanks for the idea's guys, but I think I have decided to put the stock pipes back on for now, & I'll have these for sale soon.

Just gut the tips, by drilling out the 3 captive nuts. Without the resistance of the small hole, you should not get anymore exhaust bypassing the tip. That is what i did, it worked perfectly. As a bonus, the gaping hole at the back looks menacing.
