Brighton, TN | New problem, did a search (not really), been on here long enough that I don't remember this one.
Push the start button, motor turns over fine but does a growling sound until started. Sounds like a bearing. Not every time, but most times starting. Makes no noise while riding or idling.
turn the key off and I get the same small growl out of it as it is winding down. This is where I get confused. First thought is the Starter, but then why in the world would it make any noise when I turn the key off.
Anyway, any ideas, popcorn and Dr. Pepper at the ready!

| First off check battery. How old is it. Second check starter draw. Starter checks out then the internal drive could be bad.
If starter is bad check out auto electric repair might rebuild it cheaper then a new one. |

New Bohemia, VA | yeah, it's the starter. Mines been doing it on and off for the past 50,000 miles. Sometimes it is on, and most of the time it is off, but so far no starting issues, just that growl. Let me know how it works out for you Po, I'll keep riding mine until she blows... |

Austin Texas Yaaaalll | I know this older thread but I recently had this problem too on my 2011 Vision. When I hit the starter button growling noise from front lower of the engine. Noise dissipates as engine warms up. If started from a hot engine state the very little noise. Started making noise at 5k miles and I finally took to dealer at 7k miles. They told me it would take 2 weeks to diagnosis and fix. This is my daily ride so I finally took it in with 20K miles and they are replacing starter drive under warranty. Victory acted like they never heard of this issue and have been slow to move on it. Hope this helps anyone else. |

Brighton, TN | Wish it was still under warranty. Wonder if there is a slide mechanism that just needs a little lube. Or, could I even take it to a starter rebuild place for less than a new one. Its a little irritating, but it ain't broke. |
