In all of my years or riding motorcycles... I have NEVER used a backrest for myself. Since I've had the Vision last year; I thought that maybe it'll be a nice addition. So I just ordered a Utopia backrest.

I know I've stated before that I was going to make one, rather than purchase it... but after analyzing the time for designing, gathering materials and putting one together from scratch; I'd rather just cough up a little extra money to a company that seems to know what they're doing, and already has designed what I want.

Hope it's comfortable. We'll see....

I used to look at bikes with backrests and just shake my head. Until I got mine last summer!

Willtill, you won't be disappointed. I had the Utopia version on my 2008 and loved it. When I got my 2011, I just added the Victory version. Not as big, nor as adjustable as the Utopia version.

Once you get 'squinched down' in the seat the Utopia will make the miles go much better and in recliner-like comfort. Play with the adjustment angle screw to find what'fits' you.

You sound like me, and I'm sure you will be as happy as I am with my Utopia.

I always thought the backrests were for older rider with back issues. Now I see it as completing the bike. After all , jet fighters have backs on their seats...

I was under the impression that the 2o10 and 2011 Visions were back rest ready. Now I'm looking at the back rest online and it is $229.99 but needs a $99.00 mount . Is this true ?

How much is a Utopia Backrest complete and shiped ?

Comes with the bracket:

https://www.utpr.com/vision2010installation.html

I added a bar cover to my order; so subtract $18.00 from the total amount below:

Vision Utopia Driver Backrest $215.00 X 1 = $215.00
(Vis-10FL) (Do You Have A Slit in Your Seat?: YES, I DO HAVE A SLIT IN MY SEAT.)
(BCL) Bar Cover $18.00 X 1 = $18.00
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Product Total $233.00
Shipping (1 Backrest with or w/o Opti) $14.00
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Grand Total $247.00

Trekwolf,

I just bought an original factory Victory Backrest complete with bracket inlike new condition. Problem for me is thought it would bolt onto stock heated seat on my '08 Vision, wrong. I have to go with a Utopia backrest, so, am willing to sell backrest for what I bought it for $170 plus shipping. It has the Victory embroidered on back plus cool little zipper puch on back for passenger use i.e. cell phone, camera, etc. email if interested pcnova54@yahoo.com.

Peace

Do these remove/attach fairly easy without tools (after the bracket has been installed of course)? And if so, how?
I found something that said the Victory model is easily removable, but couldn't find anything on the Utopia that said if it does.

Not sure I understand this correctly that the backrest and bracket wont work for you.  Is that b/c you dont have the "slit" already cut in your seat like the newer seat or is it something to do with the underside and fitment?  I've had my Vic backrest on a few different seat and all worked beautifully.   If it's that you dont have the slit, then Utuopia wont work for ya either...since you need to cut the seat for either to work.

Also, to those thinking Utopia is alot cheaper.....keep in mind that at that price it is locked in there and is NOT a quick disconnect backrest.  That QD mount adds another sum onto your total which puts it somewhere in the $300 range which is similar to the Vic amount.  Still is cheaper by a small margin, but then the only main difference is the size and I like the sleeker look of the Vic unit  (plus I bought mine used and got a helluva deal on it).  Additionally, glad mine is QD as my wife is another of those that says she feels slightly crowded by it.  So, when solo its on and when 2up it is off and stored in saddlebag.  Easy as pie.....

I added a Utopia backrest to my VV a few K mi. ago and wonder to this day how I ever rode without one. Then again I was younger and really didn't do to many 4-900 mile rides so I guess I can really stop wondering. Anyway once you go backrest you can't go BACKrestless.

Will do. It's actually a very simple install, but took I some pictures while I did it. I post something in the next couple of days in that section for it.

Too late for me to try it out but just sitting on the bike; I can tell that my comfort level is going to be elevated by it.

I installed the Utopia on my 09 Vision last year based on everyone saying how much more comfortable the ride was.Well after a few 600 mile plus days I can't really tell much difference than without the backrest.I wish I had my money back and a seat without a slit in it : )

Well... one thing is for sure. It's going to be a hell of a lot more difficult to swing a leg over it now; with the Utopia installed. Will have to resort to stepping up on the left floorboards and swinging my foot over (basically stepping into the bike).
