I have some new toys. 1st is a hitch rack for the vision, mounts tight into the reciver of your trailer hitch, perfect rack for that extra luggage or for those that do not want a perm. mounted trunk or rack. I am working on a led light kit for those that want lights mounted to the rack, the light kit will plug into your trailer light plug.
The hitch rack will be $150.00 powder coated gloss black, light kit price TBD.

2nd is some light mounts that attach to my highway peg mounts, the lights pictured are the small kewl metal lights, the mount had to be machined down, to get the lights to point level with the ground, if you install lights with an adjustable base, the mount will be cheaper. The light mounts slide over the stem of the high way peg mount, then a set screw locks them in place. They will work with the lowers in or out, and they will not drag in corners. The price for the light mounts will be $55.00 or $65.00 for the mount for the non adjustable lights.

The parts are at the powder coater right now, I will post better pics when I get every thing back and mounted.

Using the bag I have or the trunk, the license plate is visible( I have a lay down plate), as far as the lights, the bag will cover some of the lights, I am making a led light set up that will plug into the 4 pin connector, as far as the exhaust I think it will be ok, I have the D and D reverse cut pipes, the regular pipes would be better, the bag is the small ATV bag with the ends taken off, so its a big bag, I just got the set up back from powder coat, and it looks good, I will post pics when I can, I cut the rack using by hand, I am looking at getting them cut on a machine, but I would like to keep the price low. One other cool thing is the hitch rack can be broken down, by taking off the platform and it all fits in the trunk, and does not take up a lot of space, the set up is perfect to pack for those extra items you pick up on a trip, or if you fly your passenger in to meet up with you, you can pack this rack in his/ her bag, them install it to carry their stuff.

some up dated pics with led lights, the led lights are a one piece unit, about 1/4 inch wide and 10 inches wide, they are very bright. I mounted the lights to some 1 inch angle stock, then used hook and loop to attach it to the rack, the reason for this, if you have a big bag that would cover the lights on the rack, you can move the light set, and secure it to the middle of the bag itself, using straps or bungie coards.

Has potential JB. You really need to light it up. Some bracket w/ large LED lights similar to what's on a motorcycle trailer. Many touring bikes you could get away w/ that design. Heck, a lot of bikes barely have visible rear lighting as it is, but that's a focal point of the Vision. IMO it just blocks too much of the tail. Keep workin'!!!

On the other hand, I guess w/ the Kuryakyn 4710 installed, and those trunk lights functioning as stop/brake/turn, might get away w/ that.

I can put any tail light on it, I have a set of magnetic towing lights that could be put on, I am just trying to see if their is a market for the rack. This rack is not designed to stay on all the time ( you could but why) I don't know why a cop would tell him to take it off, if he had lights and plate visible, a cop I work with looked at the set up, said as long as you can see the lights and plate, its good to go.

well, I like the idea. Wanted to do this on a Yamaha touring bike I had. A receiver hitch was made for the Yammi that was basically a 5 minute install.
I'm guessing the majority of Vision owners do not have receiver hitches and trailer wiring harnesses installed on their bikes so that might make for a slow start on these.

I like the idea Justin. I think having external lights to compensate for those that get hidden are the key to success. The LED strip on the rack is a good idea, but I would like to see something on the back of the trunk or along the sides to go with it. Too many distracted drivers out there. I would think that anybody who has a hitch would also have the trailer light connector.

If my wife starts travelling with me more often I think this is the way to go rather then a trailer. My wife doesn't have the same idea as I do when told to pack lightly.

Uh oh. You're gonna need to put some 'skulls and crossbones', and maybe some 'flames' or 'tribal graphics' on there like everybody else in their brother does!

JUST KIDDING!!!

I like what you have started there! For sure need to implement lights into the bag... and the higher, the better. My wife always rides behind me on her XC, and she always complains that the tail lights and brake/signal lights aren't bright enough on my Vision. So, I'd have to think that blocking the lights from the cagers point of view would be a bad thing.

Again, I like what you have started... just may need some fine tuning.

And please, no 'skulls and crossbones'!!!

It looks like it could sit around 4" lower without scraping which would make the license plate more visible. My 2 cents.....

I had a rack like that from N-Line for my HD. It was designed for a Igloo cooler, but I found there was so much bouncing around, any carbonated drinks I had were devastated.

Anyone know if Droopy (aka jbhatch) is still around? I've sent him an email about some shorter foot peg mounts but he hasn't responded. I can't find any other contact info for him.

JB - first I love the pegs I bought from you. Look good. Ez to install. Makes the ride even more comfortable. I have found a 'sweet spot' where i can put my feet on the pegs, scootch my butt forward a little and ride and ride and ride
second - I met a guy at a PGR mission who teaches truck driving to students. He said the job market is really good for truck drivers - hopefully you will get hired soon.

Two things with the rack:

    1. I wonder how many times I would lacerate my shins before remembering it's there

    2. How will I get my golf clubs to stay upright on that platform?  Need a "golf upright bar" btw the receiver and the rack somehow.

The rack is removable, just pull one pin and it slides out like the hitch, Yes the golf club upright bar, very easy to to do. one way is to make a simple box to set the golf clubs in ( about 6 in. tall ) then use a strap securing the top of the bag to the luggage rack.
