Some you may know or may not know, but Sonny Barger's book "Dead In 5 Heart Beats" is soon to be released as a full-length motion picture.  His choice of bikes for the leads are 6 Victory motorcycles.  This is causing a stir amoung his admiring fans and they have asked him on his facebook page why the departure from Harley.  His answer is "All leads rode a Victory. Our bike of choice for the film and reality."  There is also an article recently published that folks ain't liking, even though Sonny has been riding his Victory for nearly 3 years now.  Here's that article.  Some has gone as far to say that it is all a hoax.  With that said, I met Sonny while he was here in Virginia signing his book "Let's Ride" and I spoke to his wife briefly who says he absolutely loves his Vision!

Where can I get more information on when Sonny Barger was convicted of domestic violence? I found the conviction but cannot find more details than he hit his Wife and Daughter.

You're the subject matter OP on him plugging his book. You supposedly know a thing or two, so why not help us out? It was an honest question. How did he beat his Wife Amber? For some reason, it doesn't make me proud. In fact, it's not even him that bothers me anymore. He's at least learned a thing or two. I have to carry a gun on the highway because of the people who idolize him. So yeah, profiling thugs is something that I do a little bit.

Here's another "manly act" performed by his disciples:

"they began to beat Ms. Garcia. They used their steel toed boots and this beating became a feeding frenzy on an unarmed, defenseless woman. Mesa Mike, Augustiniak, and Paul Eischeid then took Ms. Garcia out into the desert. These three Angels proceeded to do some off-roading and dragged her into the bush. On a last attempt by Ms. Garcia, she grabbed Mesa Mike?s pant cuff and then Eischeid, who had an old dull buck knife, began to stab her over and over again. These three individuals actually took turns trying to cut off her head."

Makes you wonder what kind of man Arlen Ness is to give away a bike for $1 just to peddle his wares.

I thought we were talking Victory and Visions in the media. Mr. Barger is a media influence that provides residual marketing to the brand. I do not condone any actions of the people who ride the brand. Given your rationale tells me none of should ride any brand being holier than thou. The discussion is more on popular culture influence, not idolizing people.

Or did I miss something?

Perhaps "Ethics".

So you went out of your way to plug his book and now movie online because you don't condone his actions? That makes sense. There for a minute I thought you were bragging about meeting his Wife and getting his autograph.

My apologies to you Varyder. I have went on a tangent and I looks like I went full personal. That was not my original intent, sir. I read a little more into your initial reply than is there. I like Son's of Anarchy just like any other red-blooded Yank. I will just state that I do not agree with the biker club mentality and back off your thread. I am proud of those folks punching time cards in Spirit Lake.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop while cranking out those miles.

bigwill, I was kinda with you until you said you liked Sons of Anarchy. That seemed a bit hypocritical to me. I dislike the association of Vic and Sonny B, the Hells Angels AND Sons of Anarchy. All of those things serve to idolize "the bad guys". I'd rather have be associated with the good people in the world. What ever happened to hero's like Johnny Unitas, Jim Brown, Deacon Jones to name but a few. Even Clint Eastwoods old spagetti westerns featured a bad guy that was really a good guy.

Problem with a superior design : Both the Cops and the Outlaw bikers will recognize it. Police forces will be riding CC's probably more than Visions, but the engine and engineering are the same. Outlaws, Monguls, Bandidtos and Hells Angels will recognize the superior quality and speed of Victory's too and it has that important BIG V-Twin sound and off idle muscle.......... it is what it is ............

I for one don't care that he rides one. He is no different than we are except he was part of one of the largest criminal organizations in America. I don't think victory needs Him to help their approval rating to grow as a company or brand. It is what it is.

Riding side by side in tight formation, crossing double yellow to pass. Riding on the center line as if to say he owns the road. Hopefully not too many read his how to ride book. Sounds like a fucking idiot to me.

It's not about him, it's about who he is. It lives along the vain of "go break boundries" into a sect of the population that would not give Victory a second look otherwise. The one thing about manufacturers is they don't do background checks before you buy their product. Most of what I've read about Victory here on any forum since I came to know who they are, is that Victory doesn't reach out enough and Harley goes the distance. Harley has gone the distance since the days of the "Wild Ones". My point has always been, that the man who told his boys "Harley is what you ride, if you want to ride with us." is now riding the underdogs bike and loving it. The ones who will keep the cash flow going is the ones who buy new because of what they think motorcycling represents. I've said before, I'm useless to Victory at the moment, because I have not bought a bike from them in 5 years. But there are tons of people who watch SOA and keep up with what the "clubs" are doing, I see it everywhere. I was at a bike fest not to long ago, and 90% of the folks walking around had the "image". Victory was there with the "image". Many folks though were settling for the lower price ricers, but the more serious riders seem to be looking at the HD, Victory's and the choppers.

It's about the cash flow, the cash flow, the cash flow. What does that mean? Harley knows, that's why it is the "IMAGE" they are selling, because that is what sells. If Victory taps into that, then they become serious competition. The only way they can tap into that is by those who creates the image. Let be what it may, it only helps out Victory, whether any of us agrees or disagrees. I don't ride because anyone else rides, I ride because I love to ride. I didn't buy Victory because of any image, I bought what it will do for me, and me only. I ride because I love to ride, but I would like to see the brand survive. It will only survive if people buy, and it will not survive because of me. I may never buy another Victory in my life because I have what I want and what I need. But Victory wants people to buy and regardless who they are. If Sonny rides a Victory and 20 people buy because that is what he rides, Victory is happy. If SOA sports a Victory on the show and folks buys because of that, Victory is happy. NASCAR has done that for years the major manufacturers, what wins on Sunday sells on Mondays has been the life-blood for many models. But wait, NASCAR has it's roots in illegial activies, moonshine running, stay away, stay away. Don't buy a Chevy, that is what won on NASCAR and they have their roots in illegial activies.

Some times you have to step back and see the bigger picture. Or maybe I just don't get it. I think I'll go out and ride.

I personally and fundamentally agree with VARYDER and his statements. No harm no foul we all live in the USA. I think Sonny has turned him self around or is giving us all a good pitch. He at least has a pair and will stand up for what he believes in, kinda like us Vision riders. Lord knows I do not own or ride any brand because of what Sonny said or thinks and still love both of my Victory's. Do you'r own thinking and ride what you the brand you believe in and if you ride one you will own a Victory - nuf said.......

As a member of a club, I have to tell you I agree with Varyder.  When I first was involved, most clubs rode only Harleys.  The club I belong to requires an American V-Twin.  When I first joinedd, I was the only member with a Victory.  Now five Brothers have Victories besides me and all use them as their principal Bike.  Victory should tap into this.  The Victories performance as a stock motorcycle is much better, and for the same money, the performance upgrades blow the Harley's out of the water.

took a lota crap for riding a Victory at first, but I perservered and showed the Brothers that the bikes are real and they are tough.
