My clutch went out on my 2011 Vision. Victory has said that they will not warrenty it as it over 12 months old. I have now been waiting 4 weeks for a new clutch with them on back order. Not only do I have to pay for the part, but I have to wait 6 weeks to be able to ride my bike.

Wow - Not real great customer service.

Unless you've either 1) got a shitload of miles on your '11, 2) you ride it incorrectly or 3) there's something mechanically wrong with your bike, I don't see how you could wear out the clutch plates in 2 years. I'd have bikes 10 years old that have been beat on still on the original clutch plates.

I agree with monkeyman, I have a 21 year old Harley that has the original clutch and at one time had a Goldwing with 150k with the original clutch. Somethings not kosher.

My first Victory a 2002 TCD still had the original clutch and drive belt with well over 50k and no signs of wear. My 2010 Vision has over 20k and the clutch is great. Just got back from riding all over NC, spent a long time having to follow in a long line crawling uphill behind a road-grader, first gear all the way aka a slow drag race and not one problem with the clutch. There must have been some mechanical problem problem. Keep us informed as to the causes. Having to wait for parts does suck.

Well, I try not to jump to conclusion, anymore, as I have in the past. I see that he registered a year ago, and almost one year to the day he makes his first post, about a Victory failure. Then he spends two more days not giving any real details. I don't want to be suspicious knowing the nature of people. He should be mindful that he made a post with comments that will garner responses. Stories of how great our clutches are does not lend to his problem, facts regarding his situation will, that is why I asked a couple simple questions. So many reasons for a clutches to fail, and even suddenly, and it has nothing to do of how long anyone elses clutch has lasted.

Oh, Carl...tap..tap..tap...are you out there?

Lets try this approach, what exactly failed? It might give an indication as to the problem.

Robo, really sorry to hear about your misfortune. I agree with Jinnyvision. Get a Barnett. Better clutch IMHO, but check with KevinX. He's the master~

I had the same scenario with my clutch. It would take several weeks to get one from Victory, so I ordered a Barnett. I was on the road much quicker!

Hope not, but I wouldn't be surprised if this lead to another oil thread.

What actually broke? The clutch basket, pressure plate or one or more of the plates? or did it just start slipping ??

So, what kind of oil should you use to eliminate any clutch problems? Where did you buy it (and when), how much did it cost and what was the sales gals name?

None of my business, but many say to stay away from Synthetic oils as they are reported to cause clutch issues on some bikes.....I am not starting another OIL THREAD....Do not respond!!!

I promise not to respond.

I used synthetic oil (Rotelly T6) on my Nomad and it worked great. When I'm ready to change oil again (another 4000 miles or so), I'll either stick with the Victory oil (with an aftermarket, permanent filter from Witchdoctors) or reread all 10,000 threads across the 3 or 4 Vic forums I'm on.

it is not out of the question he could have transmission/clutch issues with OUT it being his fault or the oil he is using... I have a 2011 and my trany in (N) is noisey as hell... way worse than my 08. the dealer said it is a known issues with something called the torque compensator/ springs. I even from time to time get grinding in my gears when i downshift (did NOT have this with my 08) im using the same oil and way of riding on both bikes.. so what does that mean? something is wrong with my 11, not enough for me to warranty it as nothing is "broken" yet.... But if i want to the dealer will take care of it over the winter.. more than a few times i have read on vic forums where a trany has completely failed.. i know we are talking about the clutch, this is also the SAME clutch they put in their smallest bike (8ball) smallest not in engine size but in over all weight. and i believe that is also a single seater as well.. so im not shocked from time to time to read of a clutch issues. you cant assume everything is made equal.. if this was true i wouldnt of needed to file a warranty claim 45 mins after buying my 2011 vision..

My clutch is going to be repaired over the winter as it is making a screeching noise when it is engaged. From what I've read it is the pressure plate and it really makes sense because of where it grabs and use to grab. 56K miles and counting.

Damn stop and go traffic will kill any clutch

The pressure plate is the first thing you come to and if its bad doesn't mean the plates are. It is die cast aluminum and being in oil I don't see how it would screech.

Maybe you have a bad compensating sprocket. Or I should say maybe the spring in the compensating sprocket is whats making the noise. The pressure plate just goes in an out pressing on the defame spring.

Ahh well with the 60k miles on it, probably just best to do a complete overhaul. I know the plates are most likely good since it does not slip. I guess I'll let my dealer determine if a complete overhaul is needed. I just hate to have them fix it and then have to take it apart again.
