Hi all! Got my vision about 6 weeks ago and have put on about 3500 miles so far. I think it is the best thing I have ever done to relax. Well I am getting ready to take a three day trip from Virginia to Florida....900 miles each way. One day down one day there and one day back. Anyone have any advice? My only real concern is on the two 300 mile trips I have taken my back has gotten very sore. I have since gotten a back belt. It seems to help.

One other thing I have been looking for the Ultimate solo touring bag that is in the 09 catalog. But my dealer told me (like everything else I have been looking for) it is backordered. Is there any place online that I might order it or something very similar?

Thanks everyone,
Shawn

PS I think I have the heat thing wooped....I will post that later

First, nice ride RS! I hope to personalize mine soon. I don't know what kind of back issue you have but I know the Vision is very comfortable and supports your lower back. I did an Orlando trip on the Vision in December and did it with ease.

Advice? Ok just a couple things. First off go to the nearest shop in your area that sells "underarmor" and buy yourself at least three pairs. They cost around $25 and you'll likely find them in a sporting goods store like Dick's. They will ward off any baboon butt or discomfort from sweating. Drink lots of fluids so you need to stop every 100 miles or so and pee...hydration is important. When you stop for gas make a point to walk. This will get the blood circulating in your butt reducing saddle soreness. Sunscreen and wear a long sleeve shirt to ward off dehydration. You can use any duffle type bag on the rear seat for back support if you are travelling solo (I have the Utopia rest). Do NOT slouch.... oh and take a couple asprin before heading out.
Other than that enjoy the ride...... 900 miles makes for a long day so don't forget to eat something in route

Shawn,
You bike is gorgeous!
Here's my advice. Enjoy the big floor boards. Move your feet around, alot. If you are riding solo, it gets better. Move your feet to the back of the floor board and stand up.
Another position When Safe) I really like is to use the passenger floor boads by swinging my leg back under me and hooking my heel on the rear floorboards. Kind of like a cafe racer position.
If it is hot, put the windshield up. Yes up, this cuts down the fatigue caused by buffeting and reduces the Blast furnace affect. I wear long sleeves so i don't bake ( ever see an arab in a tank top?) Drink lots of water.
Don't fall asleep! But try and relax in traffic.
Let us know how your trip goes.

Thanks for the underarmor thought....I race stock cars and mods here in Va and I just started wearing it last week.....never thought it would work as they are skin tight but you are right ...Ilove wearing it now! I am still trying to find the Victory solo bag....I think it would give good back suport also....Thanks!

Shawn I have the dresser bag that Victory is selling only I bought it from Saddlemen.com at 135.00. It will give you plenty of back support. The part # is BR4100.I went to target and bought a seat cushion to add to the bag for comfort. Bruce

Here are a few.  $110 seems to be the cheapest, but you have to also consider tax and shipping.

$119.95 at http://www.chromeworld.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.prodInfo&am...

$132.99 at  http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp;jsessioni...

$125.96 at  http://www.shopmotorcycleonlinestore.com/shop/productdetail.htm?pro...

$109.95 at  http://www.axiomcycles.com/pages/item/itemdetail.asp?item=83-152-00...

I am also interested in the seat bag as well. How does it attach to the Vision? It looks like the Victory bag attaches with 4 straps to the passenger grab handles....I assume the Saddlemen bag is the same? The bag looks pretty deep (front to back)....are you happy with the riding position when you use it?

Thanks....

One option I saw on a Vision was that they placed a strap under the seat and left the pigtails hang out on each side of the seat.  When the bag is not on the bike, the 2 pigtails are buckled together on top of the passenger seat.

Just a thought.

Jim this bag has a strap that goes around the trunk and two straps that attach to the handles next to the saddlebags. You don't need to get a thing to attach it to your bike. The saddleman bag looks to be the same as the Victory bag only 1/2 the price. It is so comfortable I never remove it, just sit back and relax. This is the best money you will spend on the Vision. Remember you need to get a seat cusion that will install in the webing facing your back.

Nice ride! As far as your back is concerned, I had the same problem, but have since installed the Utopia backrest, I can ride for hours without a problem. Check out their website at http://www.utpr.com/vision.html

Not sure if you will get one before your trip, but I can tell you that it is well worth it! Enjoy the ride.

Well, after you put the bag on the back, go buy one of these and plug it in to your auxillary plug.

Shawn One last time. Go to Target, in the housewares section they will have seat custions. Find one you like that will fit in the space that is in the frount of the bag where the webing is. Bruce

I just received the Saddlemen dresser bag. This thing rocks! It fits like a glove on my Vision, and makes an awesome backrest. Looks like the bag is going to hold a ton of stuff. I went a little different way in attaching it though. I used a total of 4-12" bungie cords. I attached one around each grab rail to the steel ring sewn onto the bottom of the bag, then ran the other 2 from each of the straps on the top of the bag back to the trunk luggage rack. It's rock solid and very easy to remove. Found a great rectangular pillow to go in the middle of the bag to lean against. I got a long trip coming up next month and can't wait to use it. For those of you that need some additional luggage space, and a great backrest, I highly suggest this bag.

Ride safe,

The Universal T-Bag works pretty well for a backrest also.

Great thread guys! I ordered my back rest luggage last night since it serves a dual purpose of carrying things and supporting your back. I was looking at the Utopia idea, but for $220 and no luggage....well you know the deal. Besides the stock vision seat is great for those 200 mile days anyhow.

Great idea about the underarmour shirts. I'm going to run by Academy Sports and pick up a couple today. My first long trip is set for next week and I'll be heading into the Big Bend area of Texas which is right along the border with Mexico. The shirts should give me great protection against thhe sun.

You probaly know this already, but on a long hot ride it helps beaucoup to soak your shirt at gas stops. It`s like having your own personal air conditioner!
