Guys, I am looking for a backrest for my Vision Street. Does any aftermarket companies make them yet? I know Victory has one (out of stock) for the vision, to the tune of about $450. Anyone know of others?

Are you looking for the driver backrest or the passenger backrest? I haven't seen one for the driver yet. Wish there was.

I don't think anyone has anything aftermarket available for the Vision. $450 for the backrest from Vision isn't all that bad. The one for my wife's Volusia was around $500 and I believe the new model is upwards of $600...

If that backrest would slide up behind the driver I might even buy that one but it don't.

Interesting photo, that's not a stock Vision seat. Could it be a Mustang or Corbin prototype?

Frankly JAM......

I have no idea whatsoever who made the seat nor who owns the pictured Vision. It can't be somethin' *I* dreamed up or it would have been a Midnight Cherry bike. I haven't had a motorcycle in many years. I need a new toy and was lookin at vettes, roadsters, spyders, and then I discovered the Vision online. My search was over at first look. I put a deposit on a Vision at Randy's for a June delivery and have since been driving myself nuts scouring the net for every scrap of info and every image I could find. Since finding this site, I've gone completely over the edge and spend way too many of my waking hours in anticipation. Thanks a lot. Yer partly to blame.

...they're coming to take me AWAY haha.....

You know ... that kinda looks like a Rick Mayer seat. I wonder if someone sent a stock seat in for him to "modify" The texture of the seat bottom looks like his work.

With the Minnesota plate on it I'm thinking this is a factory prototype seat that we may see in the near future. All the plates on the test ride Vision motorcycles are Minnesota plates.

You may be on to something here. From the reflections on the bags, it appears these shot were taken in a very large parking area, with at least 3 other Visions in attendance.

I think I am gonna pass on the Victory passenger backrest. I may fabricate my own. I can do it in stainless and totally custom for way less.

When you do, take some pics. There might be a few people willing to make it worth your while to do more.

Will there be a way to extend it toward the driver and use it solo. That's what I need. Seems like we could use the same mounting location for the tourpac and fabricate from that attaching point, without having to cut into the seat. HMMMM

I was thinking about that...I wonder, just how does the "stock" backrest attach? I know the finishing panel still is in place, so does it come out from under the rear of the seat? I definately don't want to mod that panel if I don't have to. And yes, when I make it, not only will I take pics, I will make more than one! I will also be making some risers for the passenger floorboards, too. I will need some taller than 1.5" for the G/F

I was just looking at the online catalog and the combined backrest and luggage rack is $850. Victory is really proud of those two items. Getting the trunk for the Street is only another $450. Just from the pictures of the backrest, it looks like it is bolted to the frame behind the seat somehow, it does not look like it is bolted to the seat pan like the Kingpin.

Yah, the trunk is what I have on order, but was thinking a backrest for her while I wait would be good. They seem very proud of their add-ons, for sure! I do plan on getting all their chrome trinkets available, and when I take off my pieces, I will see about powdercoating them all black, as I have the set up for that at home, then installing them to see what a blacked out look would do for my black cherry premium.

metalguy, I'm also doing some special paint on the bike when I get it, and it does include the silver trim parts, they stand out way too much for my taste.

I lived in Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island from around 1997-2001. Working for the Navy as a Civ. was in the Reserves but bailed wanted my weekends all to me lonesome. Wasn't close to retirement either. Really was wondering if you were close enough i could get in on that backrest. I like the looks of the street, but to take the wife need the tour pak. My old KZ1000 1977 model had a sissy bar, luggage rack that was adjustable. Basically it bolted out next to the shock mounts had a little platform (luggage rack), then it had a back pad that could slide all the way up to the driver off of two sliding poles that you hand tightened down to the distance forward you wanted. I liked it seemed easy to redo.

I will sit down, take the seat off, and REALLY look into this over a weekend, and see just how I want to proceed. My only hitch is finding out how to mount the thing. Making it will be the easy part! I just don't want to mess up any other portion of the bike. Once I can figure an easy way to mount it SECURELY, the rest will just be comfort, and looks. I want to get into making custom stuff for Visions, as I find things that will suit me, and then perfect them so others can get them cheaper than factory, once i test them.

I don't see why you couldn't pull the same plate where the tourpak goes and attach there. Just make a small metal cover painted black or chrome.

I could make a cover like that, but I would then want it painted to match, and I don't paint! I only powdercoat stuff because it is pretty much impossible to mess up! I am great with metal, but crap with stuff like paint.

pls keep us informed of everything you make for the Vision. There are many of us out here that would rather keep our $ in the group instead of sending it off to Victory/Polaris. Luke
