How many folks are really interested in the possibility of having their blinkers sequentially blink, like the old cougars. Starting at the bottom and going to the top, through the three lights. I have access to a fellow who has electronics experience and seems to be interested in designing it. But before I jump out and tell him to spend some of his youthful time on it, I thought I would gauge the actual interest in it.

I am assuming we are talking a plug and play module to do this?

Yes, like anything, it all depends on what you call plug and play. Yes, if we can figure out where the plugs come from and get appropriate connectors. It should be. That's what I call plug and play.

Then there is always option 2 where you have to cut and splice. I see some of you like that option to with the mod to the rear light to stay on when tapping the brakes.

The sequential signal 3 light system is back on the 2010 Mustangs. They look good.

Personally, I'd like to refer to them as the '69 Shelby GT500KR lighting option.  Cougar sounds a little tame.

I know, and of all the Cougars, Mustangs and Torinos that had them, the '69 GT500KR was the baddest of them all.  (The '70 Shelby GT's had them also but the '69 wins because anything made in the '70's and '80's was lame.)

P.S. - What I'd really like to see is all six bulbs light up as brake lights and when your turn signals activate, the three bulbs on that side go sequential while the three bulbs on the other side stay bright.

I need a sound clip of a cougar and a 69 Shelby GT500KR and see which one scares you more.
I totally forgot about the front of the bike. I'll give that a look. That would be slick.

Po,

You also need to modify your poll.  ABSURD belongs in the top category.

If I knew how to modify it, I probably would. But I spent a few minutes setting it up, then posted it. Thought I wanted to change something but was unable to. I could only change my post. What would the Top category then read, "This is so ABSURD, I gotta have it!"

I would especially love it if I could have the sequentials, but also replace the filament bulbs with LED's. I don't understand why Vic went high tech/spaceship on everything but old school on the tail lights. It's like they designed it from the front to the back and ran out of time or something.

I said NO to this suggestion right away - no hesitation at all.
BECAUSE - often I make a quick lane change - and I want ALL the lights working RIGHT NOW to let any interested party know that I am changing direction. I don't want anyone looking at me and thinking "AWWW - Isn't that cute" ---- I want them thinking "LOOKOUT !!!! "

So - I choose SAFETY over CUTENESS - and the brighter - the better. And yes - I agree that while sitting at an intersection with 'Cougars' on - would draw attention, or while signalling a long way from my turn. But my riding style is FAST with lots of quick lane changes - and I just don't believe cuteness would be as effective as the stock lights. Just my 2 cents....

donetracey, so then maybe you would prefer all lights on the one side to light as a blinker, but then again stock lights sounds to be right up your alley. Or, maybe even through some HID lights in there to say WATCH OUT, RIGHT NOW!

I'm thinking that no matter which light is blinking, it is saying I'm coming over. Then, I was thinking of modding my bike to leave the middle light on with brake. But after traveling behind someone who had done the mod, I could barely tell when they were braking. i like the contrast.

Thanks for the compliment of calling me CUTENESS. Flattered, but I look nothing like your wife, I don't even have uranium to con you with.

The sequential flash would look cool indeed, but I'd want to see one before I hacked up my wiring.  Looking at the wiring diagram in the shop manual, it would take some cut and splice work because of the way it's wired.

BUT, the 3/3 brake/flasher could be a plug in module - the biggest drawback would be the pair of connectors used at the rear fender break - they look expensive.  I would go for a 3/3 setup just to increase the number of brake lights.

I have working on this for a while now... Remember that we have a separate wire for turn vs. brake. I am looking into one of the trailer harness adapters that will convert separate turn and brake wires into one wire which is what this mod will require...
