For some reason lately more people are going nuts over the Vision than usual. Wednesday I am in front of the Mall of Georgia when a tractor trailer driver pulls me over to find out what I am riding. Last week I am in a little town and a guy starts blowing his horn behind me then pulls up beside me and yells out "beautiful" then drives off and of course my wife says he was talking about her??? Then yesterday I go to the local hardware store to pick up some stuff and unknown to me they are having a car and bike show in the parking lot. As I come out of the store the Vision is surrounded by people and I have to wait around while my picture is being taken and they are wanting to know why I am not in the show...All of you that are just getting a new Vision I recommend that you go get you hair cut and teeth cleaned so you will look good in all the pictures by folks you don't even know...

I do believe you are right. I just finished riding (what little I get to do nowadays) and my girl brought just that fact up to me. Every time we ride it's a show for other people. It took over an hour just to get gas, from the other customers asking all kind of questions. A Harley rider pulled up got gas a left. LOUD PIPES and all and no one even noticed, untill the ear splitting noise of a rev-up slow V-twin yelled as he was pulling away. At a traffic light the cars on either side were asking us questions. I took the one on the right my girl the one on the left. I hope all these people show up at the Demo Days Nov. 21st. in Freeport, FL

I've noticed that the "I just bought one" threads seem to be cropping up again. Maybe it's those incentives for the 09's or something though. I dunno.

I've had three Goldwing owners and two Harley guys tell me the Vision will be their next bike.  Just waiting for the stars to line up right.  The Harley guys are also waiting for the Cross bikes before they decide.

where are all the Vision 8-balls? I've only read that one has been delievered, but I also heard that there is a delay because of the seat vendor.

When they get out it will be a head turner...

The Vision 8-balls are in Canada already. Went to look at one at Peak Powersports in Burlington. You sit a little lower and closer to the front because of the seat. I already put in an order for a stand to replace the Vision's. The new one is a lot easier to find with your heel.

I went to a poker ride in a small town. At the end of the ride they had a bike show. I had no idea it was going on, so I went inside for a beverage. I was later presented with a trophy and a t-shirt.

Every trip away from the house turns into a social event. When I park, at least one person always walks up and asks questions. They will signal a friend, spouse, etc, to come take a look. While I'm going through my speech about the bike, others think something is going on so they are attracked to the scene. This attracks more and so on. There is no such thing as a quick trip to the store anymore.

I was at a gas station and a guy on brand X rides up and says, "That is the best looking bike I have ever seen". He begged me stop by his house to show his wife. He lived only two blocks away so I followed him. His wife was thoroughly impressed. She sat on it and said, "We definately have to get one of these". He even cell-phoned his son to come over. He showed up in short time on a sport bike. He made several favorable comments about the Vision. The father asked me for directions to the Victory dealer.

Every time I leave the driveway on the Vision I plan for a longer trip than would be needed on another bike.

Kind of let's you know how the animals in the zoo feel with all of those faces pressed up against the glass looking at you. Have to say that I'm not thrilled when they use the horn to get your attention.

I was in Talladega 2 weeks ago, I stopped in a little cafe called Rita's for breakfast before hitting the road for home. As soon as I walked in the door, a table full of men started asking questions. It was easier taking them out to the parking lot to answer all of the questions. The cook had to come out and tell me my food was getting cold. ET

Yep, but you know we all love it.
Went to dinner with the wife, she on her Yamaha 650 and me on the V. When we stopped, a couple pulled up to ask questions and get a better look. I asked if he rode, yes, a Sportster. He couldn't stop talking about the lines, the beauty.
We had a nice dinner and then when we came outside, there's a dude taking in all angles of the bike.
I asked did he ride, yes, a wing. He had test driven a Vision a bike week last spring right after he bought his wing and really liked the Vision. Wanted my impressions after having it 2 years. I'm sure he thought I was a commissioned salesman when it was all over with.
On the way home the wife and I had different errands to run so we split up.
A couple of miles from home I pull past a Road King in traffic and on down the road stop together at a light. He says "Man what a beautiful bike, does it ride as good as it looks?" I was trying to answer him and noticed the light had changed, so I couldn't give him the entire rundown, but I think he got the jist of it.

I'm celebrating my 2nd year/36,000 miles with the Vision this month.  There are lots of nice bikes out there and, on paper, the Vision is a nice bike.  What sets it apart is the attention it gets.  Even the magazine reviewers that don't personally like the looks always comment that it is by far the most attention grabbing motorcycle they have ever been out on.  They are genuinely surprised that so many people like it and flock around it at every stop.

The guys who own other bikes (including other Victory's) that read this forum and threads like this have to think we are exaggerating and just trying to top each other with stories.  Everyone has a lot of pride in what they ride and want other people to notice.  Every Vision owner has been there with their previous rides.  I honestly don't think any of us really anticipated how different life with the Vision would be compared to any other bike we have ever owned.

I spent the first year of Vision ownership sitting next to windows in restaurants and watching middle-aged guys (and their women) stop and circle the bike.  Cops are fun to watch circle it.  They really like it.  Now, when I'm out with a group of family or friends, I make it a point to sit with my back to the window so that the people I am with can watch out the window.  They always try to anticipate who will stop and circle without any prompting from me at all.  They get really excited when a group of businessmen show up (or walk out together).  All it takes is one guy to make a move and the whole group will follow.  "Like shooting fish in a barrel." is the most common response from my table.

I try to imagine any other motorcycle on the planet that would get that kind of response on a daily basis and it just makes me laugh and shake my head.  I have witnessed at least six people take pictures of my bike with their cellphones.  (Three while driving.)  It really is unbelievable.

You're a better man than me Tom! I always sit so I can watch the action! I get such a feeling of 'smug-ness' that I don't want to share it with anyone.
Regarding photos - I occasionally get asked to 'get in the picture' - which is flattering - given my .... interesting looks. But yah - dozens of pics taken by onlookers that I have witnessed.
TIME SAVING HINT: When people try to start a conversation... "How do you like it?" or some such, just look at them, smile, and say "What do YOU think.... " - and then ride away into the sunset.

I don't have much experience with motorcycles (I had an RK for all of 10 months before getting the VV. Been riding for about two years now.

I do, however, have experience with being the weird one, so I can fall right into the crowd-of-people-everywhere-you-stop thing.

Where I live now, bicycle riding is like death on a stick. Overloaded undersized roads with no shoulders and poor sight lines. However, I used to put 2000-3000 miles per year on one of these babies....

bound to grab folks' attention, no?

hmmmm... I seem to be that last poster on quite a few threads.

Perhaps I should change my handle from "trailbarge" to "threadkiller"?

I agree too..... as one person told be about the Vision:

It is one thing for people to stop and look at your bike, it is a whole other thing when the stop and take photos of it.

Best line I've heard about the Vision came from a group of people I found gathered around the bike after a nice dinner at a local steakhouse:

One of the guys steps up and says, "Man, that thing looks like it's going 100 miles per hour when it's standing still."

Some of my more interesting moments:

I-94 West to Madison from Milwaukee...two lanes and I slowly pass a nice looking new Dodge Charger RT. In it are three black ladies mid 30's- 40's and I smile as I slowly pass by. Then they do the speed up thing to ride next to me. I always hate this because I believe the left lane is for passing and then back in the right...can't now. So I look over at them and they are all pointing at me and having an animated discussion. After about a mile of this and still feeling uncomfortable they let me pass and I pull in the right lane. Then they speed up in the left lane and we do this riding-in-formation thing for another mile...they wanted to see the other side of the bike. The two windows finally open and I get two huge smiles and two thumbs up as they stick their fists out the windows. I mouthed thank you back.

On the same interstate different day and pass two oriental gentlemen in a Nissan Maxima...the same speed matching thing happens and the driver has both hands on his cell camera and facing me as the passenger is steering...taking pictures of me...then the passenger hands him his phone and take another batch. Big smiles from them, a head bob and they mouth "nice bike" to me...as I smiled back and nodded.

My daughter takes me to dinner at her favorite restaurant for Fathers Day in downtown Madison. It is right downtown in the middle of campus/state street and we take the VV. In Madtown they have metered parking for motorcycles...like four slot toaster each with a meter and I take one. We come out of the restaurant and two guys are walking all around the bike and my daughter freaks wow...look at them. I tell her it happens everywhere I go no big deal. We watch from a distance and keep walking and then she gets all indignant when one of them squats down even with the Victory light on the side and starts sliding his hand along the lower lines around the engine. "He's touching it" she shouts out…"let's go walk by them and hear what they're saying." They both were middle aged artist guru types...this town is littered with them...and they both are just going on and on about the flow of the lines.

My daughter was beaming with pride about our ride! Not bad when you get that from a 23 year old woman that still thinks about her dad as the geek that taught her...the "pull my finger" trick!

I was riding home from work last Sunday and when I got about two miles from my house I pulled up next to a chartered bus at a stop light.  I looked up at the bus but couldn't see inside because the windows were so dark.  The bus was kind of shaking though.  I didn't think much of it but it was enough to notice.  I got to the house and about five minutes after I walked in the door I got a text from my 21 year old son.

"Hey.  I was in that bus next to you at the light.  We were on our way home with the church Jr High group from our Fall Retreat in Middle TN.  I told the kids that that was my Dad on that motorcycle next to us and the entire other side of the bus stampeded over and every face was plastered against the window.  Nice job. The driver hates you. :-)"

On my from work the other day and I am at a light and I hear off to my right:

"I'm going get a ticket and accused of drunk driving just trying to catch up to you to take a look.."

Riding down a little back road that runs parrallel with a set of train tracks. The wife and I are just taking a back route to
dinner and I keep hearing these little horn chirps. There is a train that we are running the same pace with and the
conductor is giving us a thumbs up wave as we are riding along.

I had stopped in at Deals Gap for a quick lunch before hitting the Dragon a while back. I parked the Vision right there in front of the restaurant windows so I could keep an eye on it. While standing in line, I got to see the procession of people circling around and pointing, stooping for better looks, etc. Then I notice this woman standing close by it and she starts to pose REALLY close to it. She was having her boyfriend take pictures of her with it. She even went so far as to put a foot up on the floorboards. After lunch, I got grilled with questions about it from people stopping to check it out. It took me over an hour on that "quick" stop for lunch.

I am proud to be a part of such a great conversation generator. We also constantly get stopped to talk about the bike. It is a lot of fun and you get to meet some great people.
