Saturday I rode my Vision to Jersey City NJ to work. I'm an electrician currently working on the PATH underground Train system. I was at the Exchange Place station, as a PATH sub contractor I am allowed to park on station grounds.

Exchange Place is directly across the Hudson River from where the twin towers were in NYC.

It is a very nice pier with great views, I like to think my Vision added to the beauty .

Well on my " Coffee break" I came above ground to enjoy the sun and fresh air.

There were people from all over the globe in the area and some of them admiring my Vision.

It makes me feel good to see how some react to the Vision

Sat the exception occurred a tourist in his thirty's was having his picture took posing all around my bike.

Then the unthinkable happened he jumped on the bike and continued posing.

My blood pressure sky rocketed I wanted to physically remove this guy from my ride. I clenched my teeth and forced myself not to get up. I realized if I had any contact with person I would end up arrested and out of a job.

I pulled out my cell and called my better half and let her talk me down.

The tourist caused no harm to the Vision I watched as he dismounted and left the area. I then inspected the bike and was relieved.

Had it been a teenager or younger person I could have handled it with ease but because this was an adult I was in rage mode.

Co workers told me I should have confronted the trespasser. They have no idea how hard it was for me to try to avoid the confrontation. I was very angry and if the tourist had given me a flip response I would have gone off.

My better half was pleased that I called her rather than following my reflexes.

How do other Vision owners deal with this it has never happened on any of my other rides ?

Same happened to eldset son. The guy saw him starting to boil and walking toward the jerk who quickly dismounted. Son's comment afterward was "How is this any different than me getting into his car and playing with the stereo?" I figure that there is none! I have the idea that you have the right to react as if you feel that they are trying to steal the bike and react accordingly.  Discretion and reality dictates that you walk up and firmly request that they get off.  You appreciate that it is a thing of beauty but to mount is is not acceptable. ANYone seeing the look on your face will quickly comply....

Don't know if I could have held back as you did. I probably would have walked up to him and said "Do you let strangers take your wife or girlfriend's panties down and stick their d*cks in their @ss without your permission? Then get the f^ck off my bike!

Some people just don't have a clue and they need to be educated on stuff like that. In Texas, you could assume he is attempting to steal your ride and have the right to use deadly force in protecting your property. Just my .02

I ALWAYS carry a good camera. Take HIS picture - and explain that the photo is to present in court so there is no misunderstanding about what is about to happen to him....

It is certainly an educational thing, but common sense and logic should dictate not to TOUCH someone elses property without express permission. No home training and certainly ignorant of want they are doing, though no excuse. I let people know when they have tresspass and my intent if they do not refrain immediately.

Wisdom was in calling your wife.

The camera is a really good idea. " What is your name?" is the next. If no comply at least you can ID him for the autopsy! You may not have educated the jerk, but you sure did your co-workers. Every bit helps so that maybe, the rest of us don't have to experience the boil. Our thanks Trekwolf!

There is no way in hell that I would have tolerated this-if necessary the jerk would have been immediately removed with extreme prejudice if necessary. Doing so would educate him and all others who were around who might think its ok since nothing happened.

Had I not been at Work on PATH Property I would have educated the trespasser. But I need my job and tourists are the PATH's bread and butter. It may have been resolved peacefully but I did not trust myself to risk getting angry.

In my not so calm opinion, I think you were right on in the way you handled the situation. Keep a watchful eye and stay disengaged. Unless you can see obvious damage coming there is no point in jeopardizing the job. Even if they understood and backed you it could be a black cloud over your head in future work.  You just have to believe that what comes around - goes around. Someday someone will piss on his charcoal.

I would have walked up to him and asked him if you can get in his car and have your picture taken. Or just walk into their house... What is the difference?

If I thought I could get close to the guy sitting on my bike without permission without injuring him I would have.

Perhaps a seat patch , magnet attached for future. You do want to take Deer Crusher to work again and not worry....

How about installing an alarm system on your baby? The thought has crossed my mind.

How about installing an alarm system on the bike?

.On the weekends I work a 12 hour shift underground, no Radio signal can reach me. An Alarm might make my bike an annoyance that the police may feel required to move.

I normally work nights and there is very few people around. The PATH cops all know who owns the Bike and I am reasonably sure they would never allow it to be moved by a civilian.

The daytime photo shoot was an unusual occurrence, most just take pictures of the bike and avoid touching it.

It was pure chance that I witnessed the trespass .

I really like the sign idea I have copied it and will laminate and display it on weekends

A bit of packing tape will do  (no laminator!). There are more aggressive ones but I liked this one.  I'd like to use a fridge magnet but where to stick it....

Also bears mentioning that in circumstances such as this, a better parking space could be chosen as to not allow the bike to be so open and accessible for those who may not know common courtesy and responsibility. I have a stretch seat cover (the kind that blocks the sun from just the driver and passenger seat. it kinda "floats" above the seat and takes 30 seconds to put on. This keeps people from even attempting to try to mount the bike. Doesnt stop the photogs but thats ok with me.

i would have been worried that if I scared him as much as i was going to scare him he might hurt the bike getting off. That would only be, of course, if he ignored the .45 in his nose and my command "don't move". my other hand would be dialing 911 to ask for an ambulance. Of course youprobablydon't have that option in the people's republic. seriously i'm thinking most people would be afraid to even get close. that guy must be a real jerk
