All,

I stopped by the Simi Valley, CA Harley dealership and they said they are picking up the Victory line.  It will be nice to see 2 American-made bikes on the same showroom floor outside of a bike show.

It will be interesting to see how the sales get split especially since Victory has added the 2 new more-traditional baggers (Cross Roads and Cross Country) .

They said if everything goes to according to schedule, the Victory product should be in before year end.

Tim

Precision Harley in RI tried it back in 2000-2002 but for some reason it didn't work out for some reason.

Yes. The Youngstown, Ohio Harley dealer (Biketown) has both under one roof.

I think it is a great idea to have both under one roof, but only seen it in a couple places.

I wonder if they will have service support from a Victory trianed tech?

BTW I bought my wifes first Victory from them. ( Used )

Still good news for all Victory riders who are in the general vicinity of that shop.

In our current economy this is not a big shock to me and I expect to see more. I have heard some of the behemouth HD dealerships have shut their doors I just don't know where.

SERVICE ADVISORY 10061-A

As often happens among isolated populations prone to inbreeding HDs (which tend to congregate in large herds) are subject to diseases that spread rapidly due to suppressed immuno-mechanical response.

While the Victory Vision is not normally known to carry or transmit these disorders; infectious agents often mutate in unexpected ways. These pathogens can then cross inter-species barriers (like bird or swine flu) and result in great destruction among individuals without the proper immune response.

If your Vision regularly comes in to contact with HDs or is serviced by HD mechanics then you should consider inoculation and booster shots as recommended by the AMA.

Common symptoms include leaking of fluids, blurred vision which is most often manifested in mirrors, loose bolts, embarrassing gaseous expressions in response to red traffic signals and flat wear patterns (squaring) of rear tires.

Once these symptoms begin to occur the only effective mechanical response is 5 quart cocktails of semi-synthetic lubricants given at 1500-2000 mile intervals for the life of the engine followed by regular applications of elbow grease and chrome polish.

Effected vehicles have rarely been known to recover, and can often be found on E-Bay languishing in dirty garages, usually in pools of their own effloresce. Advanced (early terminal) cases can often be seen being towed on trailers.

I would think it would take a good salesman to handle this situation. He has to be able to tell if the buyer is a hard case HD buyer or sitting on the fence. Some people you can never get to even look at another bike and if you try they will go to another dealer. I lean toward that being the reason not too many dealers do it. Years ago you would find an HD dealer handling say Suzuki which handles the price difference. If a guy walks in and still has the HD outfit grandma bought when he was brought home from the hospital a $1000 difference will not sway him.
I will be interested in how this works out.

Strokers in Dallas

Actually, Strokers isn't an authorized Harley dealership. They have used and customs, but not the new and official line for Harley. They service and such.

How hard they work to sell one or the other all depends on which one will put the most money in the salesman's pocket.

It will definitely be interesting to see what the impact will be at these double dealerships. How does a dealership deal with the engine cutaway comparison? "Well you will notice that the Harley motor has 5 times as many gaskets and o-rings as the Victory, and all though the Victory Freedom 106 produces more hp and torque, with only 8 gaskets it will have too much vibration."

On the other hand, an established HD dealer will draw more people than other dealerships, which will probably help the Victory brand overall, in the case of having both under one roof.

So there I was at the IMS in LB and as I was hanging out at the Victory display and ran into a sales person form the Simi store getting in tune with the Victory line.. He seemed upbeat and exited about the line.

For those of us who are near that location I think its all good.. No doubt we will test the waters.

BTW Check out Rupert's Tye Dyed Vision on you Tube,

I rode down to strokers one day for lunch from tulsa and heard rick tell a customer how great vics were. The guy was a owner of 2 hds and started asking rick questions, rick said, just ride one and you'll see. The guy wouldn't do it, rick said, typical hd riders response and walked away, I snickered!!! :-)

I am going into Simi Motorsports (Simi Harley) tomorrow and they are going to put on two new tires and brake job on the front and rear. I went in n Friday and ordered the brake pads. They said I would be the first Victory they have serviced. They should have the bikes in within 2 weeks.

Giving them a chance.

Just dropped off my Vision for the tires and brake job. All of the mechanics came out to look the bike over and the service manager was actually looking at a Victory parts catalog when I rode up. I told them that there are quite a few Victorys in the local area and we are looking forward to having a place to take the bike for service and parts close by. The bike should be done in another 2 hours...

It will take them a while to come up to speed.

A delay.... the parts did not come in yesterday, so I have to wait till today to pick it up... hopefully they aren't out joy riding on it....

I figured just installing tires and a brake job would not press their skills a bit. Just wanted to give them a chance. I know I know, better my bike than yours

Luckily the rain has stopped, for now.

As chief engineer Cometman, I do my own trival work like tires and brakes. I might not be able to ride while waiting for the work to get done, but at least I know where she is at night. Most everytime I took mine to the dealer, when I had one, they found an excuse to keep it another day. But like you, I'd want to find out what they knew in case something happened to require docking for repairs.

Cometman - 2010-12-29 11:20 AM ... I know I know, better my bike than yours ....

When we moved out to SoCal, we went though a few wrenches/shops with our cars before we found a good one.

After routine maintenance visits, I came home with loose oil drain plugs leaking oil (missing crush washers), new transmission lines almost cut though because the mounting straps were not put back on allowing the line to rub against the fan belt, etc. and so on.  All easy repairs, but lazy wrenches caused more expense and problems than they repaired.  Glad I have a reliable one now.
