I don't see any reason to regret trading my 2006 wing for my 2011 Vision. Goldwing still has all the drawbacks that convinced us to trade.

I guess Honda decided not to try and compete with the six cylinder 172 hp BMW.

how is this important? Honda has nothing to offer, they have their die-hard following that will keep them in biznis.

This coming from a former wing rider.

If you notice in the Honda site ALL of the people are young ! They have the old doods already - they are trying to update it to get some of the younger riders to transition to the wing from sport bikes.

No, thanks. We rented one in California and not having any room to stretch my legs was a killer! Having that engine keeping me from stretching out made the trip down the coast a drag after a while.

I thought they would make more changes. Looks like you would have a hard time putting a rack on the back of it too. The side bags do look bigger. But its hard to nock a wing. They are very good bikes.

I like the new saddle bags... The front is looking more like a BMW...

And I am still really happy with my Vision over every other bike out there...

This coming from a former wing rider.

If you notice in the Honda site ALL of the people are young ! They have the old doods already - they are trying to update it to get some of the younger riders to transition to the wing from sport bikes.

Honda is going to lose to BMW on that front. Honda is offering updated plastic on an 11 year old design. BMW is offering a 172 horsepower all new design. Methinks that BMW is going to be favored by the magazines this year for "Touring Bike of The Year". Honda came out with the 2001 Goldwing (copying several BMW features) because BMW got the 2000 award for the K1200. Honda dropped the ball with the 2012 Goldwing. The BMW suffers from the same ailments as the Goldwing though. Too tall seat height and limited foot position.

There is certainly a touring bike for every taste nowadays. Competition is good for all of us. I'll be keeping my Vision until something better (for me) comes along.

"not having any room to stretch my legs was a killer!" I agree 100% when I rode one back in '04. Remember that was the last year of the cracked frames. O.o Always amazes me how the Jap owners can keep any faults on the QT. I should should get an invite to demo one. Then I will make my judgment.
Spit on all the GW owners cause only 2 models have ABS. They are always saying how the Vision didn't come with ABS. I still don't know if it's really needed or just another gimmick from the industry. Say all bikes need ABS and get insurance companies to give a discount $25 discount and charge an extra $2K on the price....

you ought to read the same discussion over at theVMC. It amazes me that folks over there are Victory owners and they get upset when folks brag on the Victory. They try to make it sound like they would rather have a Gold Wing, I just can't figure out why they are on a Victory forum.

Seems to be a great deal of disappointment among the Goldwing faithful. In the first 300+ posts, there were few who were happy with the "new" Goldwing. Seems like they were hoping for something with a lower seat height, six speed transmission and an electric windshield, and somewhere to put their feet. Of course, the Vision is just too ugly and it has a (shudder/horrors) V-twin engine. This new Goldwing is really disappointing, but it's still the best motorcycle on planet earth (quoting them). Very entertaining reading. http://www.gl1800riders.com/forums/showthread.php?t=273892

First I laughed, then I stopped and thought for a second, "I thought we were yacht owners". It truly is amazing what owning a vision will bring out of a person.

When you step back and "listen" to all that's being said in all the motorcycle forums, including this one, it kind of reminds you of when we were kids waiting for Christmas, anticipating the next surprise. I kind of like the fact that we all hope for something new and ground breaking when new models are revealed. Some times we are disappointed a little, but dang, look where motorcycling has come to since we all were little kids hoping and wishing. Everybody has their special love but you have to admit there's a lot of realy cool yachts out there to choose from these days!

I actually don't hate it. It isn't for me, and I feel bad the GW Faithful still don't have an electric windshield, but I like the update. It does scream Beemer from some angles though.

<p>It's funny this bike is also being trashed over on the VTX forum and Honda also not only for discontinuing the VTX but now because of the minuet changes to the wing especially after moving back to a new factory in Japan. I happen to like the new look and colors but I seem to be in the minority. I guess Honda feels like there is nothing to be proven with the wing and like the Shadow and VTX models they never changed them over the years either. The more things change the more they stay the same is their mantra. I would like to say this speaking of the VTX forums they speak very highly of the Victory line over there and myself along with quite of few others who owned the X are now proud owners of Vic bikes mostly the Cross Country but because there is a strong bind among the owners of the VTX and in my case I owned 3 of them we stay on the VTXOA forum quite a bit because of the friendships made over the years. I never trash other bikes and really hate to see others doing it. Variety is the spice of life.
