I'll agree with you bigfoot, but as a member you can help make it better. I'm sure you have some great ideas.

I've been a member there over 6 years. I have found many good answers to questions about my bikes, there are certain threads I choose to not visit. I have found some really great people all across this country and I have ridden with many of them. This would not have happened otherwise. I have found I get out of it as much as I am willing to put into it.

To many it's a website. And in some ways, that's what it is. But when you get involved at the local level, it's a club.

ClearVision - I agree many thinks it is a website, but it becomes the clubhouse when properly managed. That's why I was dismayed when I found out we let anyone into the clubhouse for free and those that considered themself members paid to keep things running. I figure if I thought there needs to be change I'll encourage the change and support it as it happens. I thought I'd campaign over here to get those who don't know about into the club. Then we need to work up to move it in a good direction, building on all the positive things that the club represents. I'm all for substance, and that substance is not a website.

Agree completely about being a club on a local level.

I was one of the founding members and built the VMC's site back in 2001, serving as its webmaster until 2006. There's alot of great folks there that also come here. I got discouraged with all the attitude and flaming there and stepped down in '06. Still enjoy my lifetime membership and do visit the site. Don't always like wading through the 200+ forums for info though.

I believe Vision-Riders can coexist with the VMC (it has for the last 5 years) since we offer different things. We started Vision-Riders as an info source with a community feel. Someone above eluded to the fact that Vision-Riders as more "love". I'd have to agree. And we're free too. There's a movement right now to close most of the VMC's site to the public after a short grace period. I think this makes sense for a club. The VMC is great if you want to join a club, start a local chapter & pay dues. Miles (also a lifetime member) & I still support the V2V each year and donate our location tracking SPOT for the ride and host a tracking page for all to follow along.

jeff, it's not about the website, I just want you to know that, it is about the club. Vision-Riders offers a lot of information for free, with support through sales or other donations. TheVMC asks for dues, and I had to ask for what beyond a patch and a card, which we pay for with the $15 induction due for the first year.

My push is substance like other "clubs" offer, magazine, special discounts, the rrdb in book form, and whatever else that can be included.

perhaps it won't go no where, but folks are saying the membership is declining and I understand why, no one knows what they are getting for the dollar.

I just took this opportunity since Vision-Riders is Victory specific and is strong, an appropriate coalition that will help both sites and Victory riders.

I have been a member since 2003 when I bought my first Vic, a TCD. I have seen a huge drop off in club activity the last couple of years. Seems the number who actually post positive remarks is down. Used to be during the winter months, those who wish they could ride brought the activity up and then it would slow down some during actual riding months. Not as many new posts anymore.

Like anything, the more people you have the more change there is. I was a member for years starting back in the Yahoo days. I was NE Rep for 2 years. I have my reason for not renewing my membership. TheVMC is not the only site that has constant whining but it does get tiring. I have no problem when people have problems and post them but there you end up with 28 pages of bad mouthing Victory. If owners want Victory to get BIG than they need to help out by posting the good points and helping cheerfully those that need it. Every year or so they think they should limit who can visit the site but so far they realize 90% of the posts would be complaining.
Sure I have seen it happen here. Some guy asks questions about his Hammer and several people send him off to TheVMC. They assume they were site police, forgetting the original idea of the WWW was to share information without limitations.
We can not change human nature. We can only limit replying to the trolls and whining. We can make this site warm and fuzzy for others so the "good" nonmembers of TheVMC come over here. More good posts can only help.

One more time, this is not about the internet part of theVMC, the internet is only a communication tool. I say get your answers anywhere you see fit. One of the reasons why I run my jap here on Vision-Riders is because it is specific to what we ride and we are all like minded, but we are not a club. I even suggested that we come together as Vision-Riders and start an association and nobody like the idea but it spawned the Vision Pilot stickers. I do not advocate starting a new club, only improving the old one, and that has zero affect on Vision-Riders, in fact it can help promote it. The CLUB is what is being discussed and just like over at the VMC the same thing ends up over here. I would like folks to take on the positive aspect and have always suggested that - my alter ego has been accused and lambasted as a Vision Cheerleader complete with skirt and pom-poms. I love this bike and brand since I found about it. But I have found out the same people that folks complain about on being harley riders are just like them. The difference is with Harley is that they have a strong base of people that come together that will continue to carry the brand through no matter what others think about them. But will the Victory riders ever come together like that in greater numbers, I'm beginning to wonder. I can just as easily go back to being a lone wolf like I was yesterday but I don't want to see Victory end up being the little engine that could but never did. It's about culture, it's about doing things in a positive fashion as people who love what we do and what we ride.

sorry, jeff, miles, I won't bring this up anymore here, my apologies, the intent was for the good of us all. Please freeze or remove this thread please and let it die. later.

The VMC is a great source of information for Victory owners about Victory Motorcycles.

We've met a lot of great people through the VMC, helped found a local chapter in NJ and put on a Victory Rally in the Poconos in 2010.
Being the current Northeast Rep #1, I support the VMC.

My club in San Antonio has done nothing for over three years. I was thinking about joining the local club and getting it back in shape. My issue is the same I have doing just about anything......time. Between wife, work and other work around the house I have no time to go take a weekend ride let alone get a club into shape.

I hope to send out emails in a few weeks announcing a 250 mile trip to Leaky and Vanderpool for anyone from the area that wants to go.

As far as a club goes, that should come naturally for those who care to. That's a whole different thing for a patch wearing MC, the VMC is not that kind of club. My whole intent is to boost membership and encourage positivie tones not negative. I'll start a thread at the VMC and get things stirring there again. The reason I posted over here concerning this is because most have a positive attitude, put didn't know most are already members experiencing the same thing and outlook. I think if theVMC will take a positive turn we can also promote this forum more as well and it becomes a win-win for us owners, the forums, the dealers and Victory, we just need to get our act together.

Another VMC member here and I have also met some great people at the get togethers I have attended, in fact have two rallies planned for this year. Yea there is some bitchin and whining but I don't get caught up in that stuff nor do I even post much but I have gleaned some very helpful info from there. Same as here I rarely post but have read alot of helpful info and I appreciate any applicable knowledge I get.

I've visited the site and was not impressed.

Hey Biggy, we meet again!

I am a member and it is a great wealth of knowledge but the everyday forums are quite bland for me. I will continue to support them with my membership dues and would probably continue my membership if I sell my Vic's. I do not post there often but I do read and check it out often, same as I do here.

One thing that does bother me about them (and I really think it is inappropriate to be talking about a website on someone else site) is the double dues. I would rather pay higher dues then pay then twice (one for national and once for local). To give you an example, I am a member of the VFW I pay one set of dues and it is good nationally at any location. Before anyone goes there, it is not a money issue... Bigfoot here knows me well enough to know I am just hard headed.

I will say that even though I am a member I really dont know what they do for me or what I get for my membership. I think the rescue rider program is pretty cool but doubt I would ever use it. If I break down I call AAA, find a nice hotel and drink like a fish until the bike is fixed. I really dont want to be a burden on anyone especially someone I dont know.

My first experience with my local chapter was by accident. It was two years ago +- and I happened to be sitting in a watering hole when a few members pulled up. I was sitting across from them and listening to them talk about a meeting they had just come from. The conversation was pretty scary and way to political (club politics) for me so I decided not to join. I happened to run into a senior member the other day at another sites meetup and he was a really nice guy. We talked and I told him what happened and he remembered the situation. I let him know next time they have a meetup to let me know and I will tag along and join.

Oh well, I rambled enough for now...

Ride safe everyone!
Don

I am a member and a president of a local chapter. As already said there is a lot of great information and some great people involved in the VMC. I spend most of my time and energy on the LC but do try and stay in touch with the mother ship. It can get a bit deep on the VMC, but if you navigate to the positive it can be a good experience. If it was not for the VMC I would not have meet the people involved in the LC which has been a great experience and a lot of fun.

For me it's about the people, riding and having fun, the rest just background noise. I think I read this somewhere today, "it's all in good good fun until someone takes it too seriously".

I visit the site, but haveyet to join because there just doesn't seem to be anything going on with the Southern Comfoert chapter. Any info that I would no longer have access to there I am sure to find here. I generally find the overall attitude better here, take a look at the Ga helmet law change thread on both sites and you can get an idea of what I mean.

Some folk just like to bitch...

If you really want to see what people think take a look at the ABC site.

As for the SCVR - we have been quiet over the winter but most communications happen via e-mail.

I let my membership in the VMC expire a few years ago(member#086) and doubt I'll ever renew. When the only Vic out there was a V92C there was a huge learning curve and the information shared was invaluable. Things were new & exciting, I was road captain for the first V2V through Colorado-all three of us- and I didn't wear a helmet, just a smile. Now I try I to contribute with what I know-nuts & bolts stuff. I have no desire to hear anyone's political, religious, or personnel bullshit-I just want to talk about bikes, cars, sports, fishing-you know guy stuff! See you on the road-Brian

As a new voctory owner since September of 2010, I have checked out all the forums. Owning a KP I was interested in this site, www.kingpin-riders.com however it far from a KP exclusive forum. I am registered with the VOG however other than Andy, there is little meaningful activity there. I also check out the www.victoryforums.com which seems to be fairly active. In the end I decided to spend the money to join the VMC. They seem to have the most to offer for me, a wide selection of forums, long history of good posts for information, and many of the regulars are also posting on the other sites. Is it worth it..........at about $1.10 a month, it's not something I am losing sleep over. I am on to support good sites like http://www.msgroup.org/forums/mtt/default.aspd, a fabulous site discussing the safety side of riding. As far as the negativeness, I believe that as site mature, it becomes hard to control without strong moderators, something which does come with a cost. I am not sure which one is the "true" Victory site but they are all interesting.
