El Paso, TX | Hey guys,
strange thing happened today. I have had my Vision now for about 2 months and absolutely love it. Today while driving to work I went to listen to my ipod and it froze up. It would show up on the dashboard screen, but would just scan through the songs without playing. I am using the 3rd gen ipod. Last week I installed my gps 2720 and am wondering if it is related to this problem. Did not do this prior to having gps. After I reset the ipod at work and plugged it back on bike it seems to work fine. Has anyone else had this problem. My dealer hasn't yet heard about an ipod update. |

Eyota, MN | Yes, They told me at Best Buy that sometimes ipods do that. It happened to me once but that's it. I've got the same ipod, 3rd gen Nano, they told me to hold the bottom two buttons for a certain amount of time then the apple shows up on the screen and it should be fine. It worked for me. |

Central Florida | the issue with ipod nano gen 3 is bike needs audiofirmware update version 4.13
next time bike is in dealer, have them upload this to your MC via Victory digital wrench.
if you are new to this website, please also do a search of your question as this issue has been discussed and answered at length.

Those of us who spend time on the Internet are sometimes at an advantage over the dealers and wrenches out there who spend most of their day "under the hood turning a wrench" so to speak.
You might ask your dealer if he has contacted his Victory Tech Support rep about any new updates to the Digital Wrench Software. Be polite about it, but you could say you "heard from a reliable source that something was in the works" . Remember as Red Green sais, "we're all in this together." |

Paul, don't feel bad! I had to explain to my service writer what it was and how to do it.
They had to call Victory to find out who pays for it. He told me that as long as he reported findings to Victory HQ dealer would be reimbursed 0.5 hr labor.
here is proceedure. turn key to acc. plug in digital wrench to connector in left saddlebag.
press button wait................................walk away and have coffee
press next button wait...........................walk away smoke a cigarette
when dig wrench says finished you are finished.....

Twin Cities, MN | I have been having these strange intermittent problems with my 2G 8GB Nano. Some times is finds it and displays the iPod name and other times it only shows up AUX. I've tried different sequences of plugging it in (before and after powering on the audio system) It's not the cord. It picks up my wifes 4G 30GB fine. It also picks up my step-daughters iPod Touch - It even displays the Victory Logo. Ive tried reformating my Nano too. My last few efforts can not get it to work. This happened once before. Several days with nothing then just starting working again. Has anybody else run into this? |

So Cal | I have the freezing problem with mine, and the mute problem also. Had the updated download sat. Still does both. Service said they would pass on results to victory. Starting to wonder if its not an ipod problem.Are there updates for 3G nano? from apple? I only use mine with the Vision. |

So Cal | Got the 4.13 update sat. still freezes half way through a ride. Taking it off mute, it plays for a second but freezes. Theyre getting closer. |

So Cal | I noticed hard accell. will cause it to freeze. Hit mute a couple of times, it tries to play but freezes again.
Demo rides at the dealer may 4 & 5. Gonna go demo ride (bend) a corp. rep.s ear. No sense getting mad at the dealer, its not their fault. I would feel better if I had a chance to vent to someone connected to the main office. Have a hard time understanding the people at customer service. |

Tacoma, WA | I read these threads with interest, as I had had problems with my hard drive iPod until I secured the cord end with f4 tape, as it wanted to separate while riding. I have since bought a new 8 gig nano, and absolutely no problems. I have not had any software updates to my bike. I do have some gremlins. tho....I tink the ignition switch is the cause of those, tho.-----Metalguy |

I'm having the same problem. 2Gen 8GB Nano. Only Plays through AUX. Aggrevating since you can't access your playlists or FWD through songs. If anyone has an answer to this one I'd be very appreciative. My closest Vic Dealer is 100 miles away. |

LaPorte,Tx. | Last week I talked to my service manager about the I-pod issues and he e-mailed Victory. Here is what he told me today. A new update is coming that should take care of the issues. If you have issues with the handle bar controls, there maybe an issue with the controls, which mine has problems. Sometimes when I change volumn, it will switch songs on the I-pod. He said that is not the I-pod issue, it is a problem with the handle bar controls and it needs to be looked at. So, next service, I will, plus get the update. |

Twin Cities, MN | OK - I think I solved it (for now). I had the bike at the dealer for my 500 mile check-up. (oh and by the way... I got the bad saddlebag door and windshield replaced - I have a early production bike - took delivery last Nov) My dealer ROCKS - Warners Outdoors - Bloomington, MN Anyway we tried 2 different iPods on 2 different bikes. We determined if had to be something going on with my iPod. It showed up briefly twice - only to go back to the AUX mode after trying to navigate around. I just went to the Apple site and walked through what they refer to has the 5 R's. All I did was the first step - re-set. I had done a re-install and restore a couple weeks ago but I think the problem more iPod internal. I knew something was up when I could still hear the "click wheel" when it was powered down... The reset is done by holding both the top "menu" and center "select" buttons down a good 10 seconds. Wait for the Apple logo - it takes another 30 seconds before it comes back to the back main menu. So Cal | Grebs 59 thanks, resetting the ipod worked for a while. devilboy, I think your onto something. When it froze this time, I unplugged it and plugged it back in and things were back to normal, so I think part of the problem is the cable. Just dont touch the mute, and it work fine. Touch mute and you have to start all over. |

Twin Cities, MN | Well I finally gave up on the 2G Nano I had bought used off eBay. Went with a new 3G 8gb Nano and all is well. I still have the known "mute" issue but jumping over to a new playlist is far less frustrating when compare to the problems I was having. It still works fine has an iPod - just didn't want to play well with my Vision... Had to be some hardware related connection thing. I'll wait a bit for the firmware update on the bike. The UI on the 3G is WAY better too... Nice to have the video for the times I'm not riding!

VA | My hard drive based iPod was locking up and so I got a 3G 8GB nano and it worked fine except the mute would lock it up. Had the new software version, 4.13 I think, installed and now everything works fine. I used to have to unplug it and plug it back in if I changed sources (iPod to FM). Now I don't. Hope that helps.

So Cal | I have used generic mp3 players with the original audio cable. Works good except for battery life. Maybe the suffle is the way to go since it will charge through the optional ipod cable. |

Evergreen, CO | i've been using a 1GB iRiver MP3 player, along with the stock, Victory-provided MP3 connector. Mine works flawlessly. When I get ready to ride, I just power on the MP3 player, hit the play button, power on the Vision stereo, select AUX, and off I go. If I encounter a song I don't like, I delete it from the iRiver the next time I update the playlist. I put my iRiver on shuffle, have around 200 songs on it, play it daily on my 1 hour commute each way from home to work and back, and so far, battery #1 is still going strong. I just have to remember to turn off the iRiver each time I get off the bike. MUCH better than marginal signal strength radio stations. |
