| I had a Yamaha Stratoliner and my wife had a V-Star 1100. She recently decided that driving a bike wasn't for her and wanted to ride behind me. So, I started looking for something that would suit us.
Initially, it was a tough decision. I wanted to buy an American motorcycle which immediately put HD at the top of the list. The Vision wasn't really in the running for me simply because it was a bit too TRON-like. Mind you, I think it's a striking bike but it didn't completely work for me. BMW's styling also didn't grab me so it was a race between HD Ultra-Classic Electra Glide and the Goldwing.
I looked hard at the Harley and the cool-factor almost did me in but there was something about sitting at a stop-light and your engine shaking like a wet dog that turned me off. Pricey as well.
I kept on searching, reading reviews and the Vision reviews and comments kept my interest. The only two negative comments I could basically find was the futuristic look (many don't like it) and the placement of the rear-view mirrors. Beyond that the reviews were very favorable.
So, I told my wife that I was going to at least test drive one and settle this question once and for all. I drove my Stat out to Weatherford and jumped on their demo unit. Well, that was it for me. All I can say is WOW! It's funny how "the thing, it's personality, it's behavior" can become a thing of beauty. It's growing on me. LOL
It handles like an extension of my body, stable, and I felt like my riding endurance had at least doubled on this bike.
Anyway, I know this was a bit lengthy but in the interest of discussion I thought I'd share this.

That is why from day one, (I have a numbered 99' #567) Victory has done demo rides. I don't think anyone has ever came back from a test ride without a grin from ear to ear.
They do ride nice!
Congrats again, and many happy miles.
As to your ps... Yup, just ask the dealer, might have been done. |

Harrisburg, PA | Congrats on the new Vision. If you have a recently built bike your ignition is ok. Mine was built in Jan 08 and was not apart of the recall. You can find your build date decal under the panel between the seat and Stereo. |

Stockton, Ca. | Whitehaven, you will not be disappointed. You made a good choice! To ride a Vision is to love a Vision. I was sold after my first look, didn't even need a ride but the ride just sealed the deal! The comfort is unbeatable and no other bike in this class compares for the handling.

My North American tour as a rock star has already started. Saturday, I was sitting in a parking lot waiting for my daughter to have lunch and two HD riders (at different times) rode up to check it out.
I've got a feeling that those days are gone whereby a Harley rider says "Hey, it don't matter whatcha ride, as long as you ride".  |

I've got a feeling that those days are gone whereby a Harley rider says "Hey, it don't matter whatcha ride, as long as you ride". Yup...same thing here last night. Stopped to take a few pictures, guy gets of of his car, has a J&P Cycles cap on (must ride I think) looks it all over, was impressed, then tells me how he would never switch from H-D, been riding for 37 years, has had 25 new H-D's and how he can take them apart in his sleep. My response... "Wow, need to repair them that much. Glad I brought a Victory!" Needless to say, he jumps back in his rusted 1992 Taurus, and drive away. I think to my self...25 new bikes, and he's driving this piece of sheet! Right....!

thats why he has a 92 ford...he buys new harleys and can't afford a real car. |

VA | I recently wrote an email to a regional sales rep. for Victory, basically to tell them how happy I was with a Victory dealer. One of the things I commented on, not entirely related, was that the test rides are really what sells the brand. That's what made me get the Vision. OK, I wanted it before I rode it, but it helped convince the wife at least. I made the mistake of buying a bike that I couldn't test ride before buying. Granted, I really liked the bike anyways, but only found out later that it wouldn't be comfortable for longer rides. But I think it says something about the confidence of Victory to encourage the test ride programs. Plus, and I don't know how other dealerships have been, but I got no pressure to buy the bike afterwards. That's why I decided to buy from them. They took a very laid-back, let the bike do the selling approach. Anyone else have a drastically different experience? Just curious if I have a really cool dealer or if Victory is training the dealers on how to sell bikes.

your right .....the bike sells itself.......victory is smart for their test ride program.....easy to sell something that sells itself.....they know their product is superior to the rest. |

Congratulations on the new ride.
I'm curious, since you were riding Yamahas, did you consider the Royal Star Venture? We are about to trade ours for a Vision, and I was just wondering.

Brighton, TN | Your welcome! Have you stopped yet? It is very hard to apply brakes before initial break-in is done. Took me a couple of days. The ignition key resisted being turned off. Now it just shuts off on its own. |

Bought a Vision last Friday
