I could be wrong here but it seem to me that add on to the vision cost a bit more than the harley or the goldwing. Does it seem that way to you? I still love the VISION/better.

Back in 2007 when I first looked @ and sat on a VISION @ the Seattle Motorcycle expo, the full tilt Tour in the VICTORY booth, missing only GPS was exactly $350 more than the bare bones, foot peg equipped 'stripper' HONDA Pork Wing (in that 'stuns small animals' yellow) across the aisle, by the time you do all the 'Oh you also needs..' to the 'Wing you're way up there in price and an ACCORD would be cheaper.
I'd contend that the VV is really excellent value for dollars spent. If you love old timey tradition, buy an H-D and park it next to your 'new' 1957 NASH and haul it around in your STUDEBAKER pickup truck. Old is great if you are on 'Antiques Roadshow' not when you're getting ready to lay down serious money on a 'brand new' antique.

My guess PRICEC FOR ACCOR = Prices for Accessories. I think the point is that it seems to TRELL that "add-ons" to the Vision cost more than HD or Honda's. It took me a while to sort it out in my head too, but I think I am on the right track.

You can barley buy a part or accessorize a HD for under a hundred bucks per part

Have to agree, I always thought the trunk rack was always over priced. But if you compare like items to H.D. parts Victory has more value for the dollar. This is multiplied if your local dealer offers a discount. Lately, I have bought chrome acc. parts as much as 20% off.

You can still get a valve steam with a black plastic cap for under a hundred at your local HD Dealer.

part of the reason why i never bought a truck rack (yet) was because i had a hard time dropping 400 on something that just hold a few more pounds worth of clothes or what not.

Same here, 400.00 is a bit much even by Harley standards. And I've spend my fair share on Harley parts over the years.

That's one of the few accessories I feel I really want, but I'm waiting for a large price drop too. Life would be easier with a trunk rack, but not $400 easier.

SOOO true. Wife and I just got back from a week vacation and it would have been nicer to have the extra space using the trnk rack. But like you all I just have a hard time dropping $400 for the rack. Cycleops makes a beautiful one but it is even more ($499) larger too. If any vendors are reading these posts, do you have one in the works for us?

Genuine Harley chrome rack is 189.95. I can't see myself paying 400-500 for a rack.

Not sure of the price.........but CycleOps is now offering a rack that is less "refined". Call it more of a workhorse then a show-piece. Not sure of the price but I'd say it's more in line for what you all are asking for. I don't have one yet, but it's also on my wish list. Also, PC color match is cheaper then chrome if you don't mind having the rack blend into the bike.

Michael,
I just checked the CycleOps web site and I could not find the new one you speak of. There was a new flamed one but it looks smaller then the other two he has and price is about the same. Do you have the link to the picture of the new one?

Here's a link from his Vendor forum off the VMC where he was discussing it:  http://forums.thevmc.com/bb/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=110416&posts=17&start=1
Suggest you call or email him for more details.

His comments copied / pasted:
Well, as many of you know I try to listen to your wants and needs. In another forum there were a lot of riders that didn't care about bling but wanted a sturdy rack that would serve their needs for a lower cost. Introducing our Utili-Rack, a simple and straight forward rack made to be a workhorse, not a show pony. However, it still looks pretty darn good to me!

The differences where we saved you some coin are:

CNC waterjet cut (not milled), with no radiusing of all the edges
No hand working other than a light face sanding to remove major metal imperfections if any.
One design. Want something else? Consider it a custom

For now they will be made to order as I don't intend to make a completely additional 8 more pieces to have to stock (4 fitments in both black and chrome is , so if you're in a rush order a standard blingy offering. I will keep a few decks on hand as well as the legs and supports are the same as our high end racks so we'll have all components on hand to fill orders as they come in.

As for finishes, satin black will be the standard black and they will also be available in chrome. HOWEVER, due to the nature of 'utility', we will be doing a more standard chroming process, a triple chrome process still, but a 1-2-3 process versus our Show Chrome. This means it may not be flawless like our signature parts, but rest assured it'll still be better than most others!

Hope you like 'em. Lead time for black is 2-3 week and add one more for chrome. If I find they're hot sellers I'll consider stocking some, but for now there's just too much on my plate.

The pricing is $419 in chrome and $299 in black. Which translates to a MEMBERS' price of $269.10 and in chrome $377.10.
