For those who have not endured the volumes of information in the previous oil threads I'll just offer one repeat that Kevinx (a wrench to be listened to) offered: Victory requires a semi-synthetic rather then full. OK go on, I have popcorn and beer ready.

According to the manual for my 2013 VV, it states that"Polaris Recommends the use of VICTORY brand Semi-Synthetic 20W-40 Motor Oil or equivalent motorcycle oil that is approved for use in wet clutch transmissions (such as those with a JASO MA rating)."

The semi-synthetic oil is just a recommendation, not a requirement.

And all of you OIL EXPERTS out there know that the manufacturer doesn't know shit ...

I needed a little humor today, as it is snowing like mad outside, so just had to read another BS oil thread with all the "so-called" oil experts on this site...As they say "C'mon Man"..stop the crap and change the recommended oil on a regular basis and forget the snake oils...As DoneTracey said above and I agree...I have been riding for over 50 years with all kinds of bikes, etc. changed the recommended oil on a regular basis and never, never, ever, have I had one single engine, trans, issue.......IHMO way too much time is wasted on this "garbage", including my post........!!!

If you want to find out about your oil get it analyzed. Never heard of any one asking what you put in your car,
Use motorcycle oil and all will be good.

The manufacturer uses whatever oil that meets his minimum requirements and is the least expensive for him to purchase. If one wants to continue to use that oil then by all means please do. That doesn't mean there aren't better oils.

Rotella in all my bikes. +100,000 miles on the Valk with no issues, 34,000 on the VTX, 10,000 so far on the Vision. I change oil and filter every 5,000 miles on all three bikes.

Not saying that the manuals are wrong or right, but did you think that it would recommend anything other than their own oil? If Victory/Polaris didn't distribute their own label oil, it would be interesting to see what it would recommend.

The post I made above was in reference to someone saying Polaris "Requires" Semi-synthetic oil. I was just stating what the manual says" Polaris Recommends their oil or equivalent oil with JASO MA rating".

LOL.......LOL.... To each their own, some like with the trunk, others like with out the trunk! Some like taller windshield, others like the shorty windshields!! Some prefer one brand of fuel over another. If you feel confident in your choice go with it, but to tell others that this is right or this is wrong. Is not right. I made the change to full synthetic two years ago, now I have went from 2500 mile intervals to 10000 mile intervals. It was not only the cost, but the down time, and inconveince of oil changes part way through longer rides. All the symptons I would get with the vic oil breaking down at 2000 miles, Inow get them at around 8500 miles. My oil at the end looks cleaner than the vic oil at shorter intervals. I went from an minimum recommended oil to one that " I believe is far superior" and I am confident and comfortable about my decision. Just like darkside riding, lowering kits, driving lights, led's. fuel controllers, helll I could go on and on. We all appreciate everyone's opinion, but when the dust settles, it is only some ones opinion. I used to call on a car rental chain who only changed oil in their rental when the lease was up, and where going back to GM, Ford etc. Now that is a long time on break in oil!

Just Sayin.

After 5 years - I only have a vague idea where the DIPSTICK is - mostly on this website is my best guess.

I also don't have any idea where I might look to check my oil on my two cars. Nor do I EVER want to know. At my age - who gives a f**k - "If it ain't broke - why fix it? "

And in this time and age - why the HELL should I care - leave it to the manufacturer/dealer/oil companies/engine makers/etc.

I have had NO issues since the - no - rephase that - NEVER had an issue with ANY of my 30+ vehicles in 50+ years with oil . Just CHANGE the shit when you are supposed to. NEVER had an engine problem - EVER. Cripes ....

I use synthetic oil and sometimes I use a non-Victory oil filter.

Here's a picture of the oil filter. (Sorry the tire is kind of blocking it)

I'm kidding, folks !

By the time I got married in 1963, I had changed THOUSANDS of oil filters on every kind of vehicle there was in those days - I worked my way thru university in a Service Station that specialized in truckers/odd ball vehicles. I also was a crewman for a 1/4 mile racer. My first car was a Jaguar XK150 and I rebuilt the engine from the bottom up.

What I learned most was - DON'T SWEAT THE PETTY THINGS ... pet the sweaty things.

There's more to life than OIL or FILTERS !!!!

I've always used Shell Rotella T6 Full Synthetic 5w40 in my bikes except on the Vision.
I did my first service at 514 miles using AMSoil 20w50 and a polaris filter.
I'm going to change it soon at 4500 miles and use a KP Engineering billet filter and the Rotella T6.
I've got 4 or 5 gallons of it in the garage for all the other toys. If it works fine after analysis around 6k miles then I'll keep running it and have it tested at 9500 miles. I've had it tested in a VTX with 8k on the oil and it tested good except for a slightly elevated fuel count.
The only negative that I've experienced in the VTX is that it burns a little oil in hot weather and EXTREME STOP-N-GO traffic for long periods of time.
Normal riding, no oil burned (or used)

Gawd. If you guys loved your WIVES more than you love OIL - the divorce rate would be MUCH less. Happier children. Teachers more pleased with their work. Price of housing would be down. Pension plans would have higher payments.

You OIL FREAKS piss me off !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pay more attention to your WIVES, CHILDREN, PARENTS, DOGS, CATS, even your IN-LAWS !!!

Doesn't take much to piss you off, does it? It's oil. If you don't want to use a certain brand, don't. If the thread pisses you off, don't read it.
