Thanks to all,

RiverRat0, major credit needs to go to you on this thread. The id on the type of connector is going to save us all major bucK, if we can find it in stock still.

If my plan to mount the gps on the dash with the RAM mount that comes with the unit works, I'm saving $300 bucks. Not that I don't want to suport our good folks at Victory to make us the best on two wheels, but times are tight for all.

NOW if we can get a 2010 schematic for the wiring to find out what that 5th wire does, were golden.

Thanks Marc,

As your the only other 2010 on this thread, I hope I can pick your brain some more.

Seams the wiring for the '10 has changed from the 7 pin connector mentioned earlier. The IPOD is 2 (3 and 4 pin) connectors too.

I found the 5 pin you metioned, but it was just hanging on the right side, didn't even need to remove the main panel, or anything to get to it...does that seam right?

Wire colors are pretty much as RiverRat0 listed in shcematic, but this is what I have:
red, blk/wht, bl/org, bl/pnk (maybe bl/brn), and bl/gry

I've got to test some, but I'm thinking:
Red 12+
blk/wht gnd
blue and others are combo of L, R and neutral, for audio

What colors did you use for audio, or is that in an earlier part of the thread?

Yep, that's the plug. I wanted stereo so I used the 1/8" jack wires for sound. I hadn't thought of the possibility that the new GPS plug might give stereo. I'm curious how that will work. I imagine if you're playing a mp3 from the GPS with the radio on it will preempt the radio audio the same as it would if it was GPS directions. That would be cool. Now I'm tempted to take the console off and rewire it again. I'd rather wait and see how you do so please let me know. Questions are: does the GPS plug allow for stereo and how does it interface with the radio audio.

Thanks,
Marc

For those of you that need the console mount for your GPSl, $160. or so is a bit steep. check with Arizona Victory in Tucson. I know for a fact the Sumo mount in plain aluminum is about $85.00. Black and chrome are a bit higher.

Ok, so I have ordered all the parts and have all but the mount (shipped a few days ago). Before I get started on this mod, I wanted to make sure I had the plan down. So, my question is: where to cut the REALLY EXPENSIVE looking cable that came with the Zumo 660? The way I read the directions, I am cutting the fat part, somewhere before it gets to the plastic piece where it splits out to four cables. Is that correct? Those of you that have completed this, how much cable did you leave? I was thinking of leaving only about 12-18inches, to try and keep everything neat and tucked in tight...but want to still be able to easily pull the plugs apart in case I have to remove the center console.

The plugs I have worked with in the past required that you feed the wire through the plug first, crimp the pins on and pull the combo back through the hole until the pin locks in place. Is this one the same as those? Or do you crimp the pins, and push them through the back side of the new plug? Any help before I get started would be great. Thanks, and I am SOOOOOO glad someone figured this out. The idea of using discontinued products on a brand new bike always made be a bit disappointed.

I have an 08 Midnight Cherry Tour and this is what I did.

As for cutting the big old Zumo 660 Cable - Don't do it. I did not cut mine at all because the more cut points you have in a cable only increases the chance of getting a bad connection. One thread also mentioned cutting off the wired microphone jack on the Zumo Cable but why? Just electrical tape over it and save it in case you ever want hard wired over Bluetooth.

With the standard Victory Aluminum Mount, all I did was cut out the console portion completely in between the U-Shaped part. The Zumo Cable then fed through the hole with no problems. I got a rectangle rubber Gasket Piece from Auto-Zone that fits in the hole to plug it to keep water from getting under the console.

I was able to tie-wrap the entire length of the Zumo Cable and hide it up under the Console in a hollow part between the Radio Interface and the Key hole.

Then I just left the cables hanging out to the right that I needed to connect into the wiring harness.

If you are using the TINY Pins and plugs to connect to the default wiring plug on the 08/09, then you will need to crimp (or solder) the wire onto the Pin first, then push the pin from the backside of the plug until it snaps in place. Very little Solder will make sure the pin goes in OK. Also make sure to use the thinnest wire possible (I believe I used 18 Ga), because the thickness of the wire plastic coating affects how the pin goes into the back of the plug.

I also used Heat Shrink Tubing to clean up any splices I had. And then belt and suspenders had me wrap in electrical tape also. It is hidden on the right side so not noticeable.

Hope any of this helps.

The worst part of all of it was working with that tiny plug and pins. I bought a Magnifying Glass Solder Stand with alligator clips on it which held the pins and wire very well while I applied solder. My old eyes and big old hands did not work well trying to do it by hand.

Richard

There is probably no single "right" way to do this. I did cut mine with about 12 - 16" so I would have right length for easy removal of console. I also stripped cover back so I could wire fuse holder in so that all 4 wires were "flush" at end of cable. I used shrink tubing and plenty of electrical tape to seal it up. As I posted earlier, the normal connectors are a pain to work with as they are sooo small and the wires they crimp in to are such fine gauge. I did get it connected with the Tycos, but when I pulled connectors loose, the wire popped out of the pin. That's where I gave up and soldered in trailer style connectors. Good luck with this!

You are absolutly right. I use a generic garmin mount with a suction cup mount. the disc adheared directly below the key and I run the cable into the glove box on the left side of the tank. I also got the plug in adapter for the electircal outlet that enlarges the Victory accessory plug in to the standard plug in. It works great. I just make sure I keep the disc clean and free of scratches. The suction cup mount holds my $125.00 Garmin in perfect line of sight. Total investment:$164.00 Garmin $125.00, Mount $19.00, Adapter $ 24.00

I just did the GPS wiring on the '11 so I got to try and see if the extra wire would give stereo. It doesn't. I don't know what it does actually. I sure like the fact that the GPS interrupts the radio regardless of the band. It even works when playing a MP3. When the song stops the radio kicks back in. The directional prompts override everything, radio or MP3. Very cool, particularly to one definitely NOT from the Ipod generation

I just used the wiring diagram posted by Vrat on the first page of this thread. He used a plug to attach to the Vision plug but I just cut the wires and soldered them together.

I intalled the zumo 660 0n my 2010 vision, I boucht the gps unit at a local electronics store for 675 caanadian, and the gps adapter from victory dealer for 190, then it was plug and play, very easy. Th e canadian dealers want about 1200 dollars for the victory gps, which is a zumo 660 with victory badging on it, way to much markup.

Let me try to decipher . . .

When you integrate your Zumo to the audio harness on bike, you will hear GPS direction prompts through speakers. It mutes music when it senses input from GPS. I have no idea about CB radio.

The Zumo does have blueTooth capabilities. I have my Blackberry linked to my Zumo and my Zumo linked to my CardoRider Scala headset. When all works properly, I can talk to my wife via headset, hear GPS prompts, and make/answer phone calls via BlueTooth. All works pretty seamlessly. I cannot hear music on my headset, but I don't know that I want to until in helmet speakers get better. I can hear radio via my J&M speakers well enough to enjoy the experience. Sorry I can't help on CB.

Hi I plugged my garmin zumo 660 according to the diagram to my vision of 2008 and everything works fine except that the volume that comes through the speakers is very low and that I have the volume to 100% GPS, and I've also noticed that when I select on the bike sound external speakers the sound keeps coming off the gps for them. Before I had installed a Garmin GPSMAP 276C and did not have these problems, you know is that it may be because my connection is;

black ........... white / black
Orange ............ blue / gray
purple ........ Blue / Orange

I made the connections as shown in the diagram and the sound from the speakers, however if I connect via the jack itself. This means the GPS does not recognize the direct connection, you have had the same problem you

Thanks alot to Vrat for the attached drawing for the connector!
I bought the integration kit from my dealer (really expensive as You all pointed out) only to find out that it did not fit on my 2009 VV. Really angry with my dealer since I expected him to be able to read! (he asked for the model year when I ordered the part) I my self found out that it did not fit after drilling hole in the panel so I was pretty mad!

After going to this forum and I found the drawing supplied from Vrat You really made my day! I cut the wires and soldered them on to a new plug and plugged it in. It works like a charm!
All I have to do now is return the really expensive cable that I did not have to buy in the first place.

Thanks again Vrat

Here is How I did mine using the kit that came with the garmin Zumo 660. All you need to do is buy rome 1/4 inch ready rod ( or threaded rod ), some 1/4 inch clear tubing or black hose if you wish, ans 2 nylon lock nuts and 2 washers. Insert the tubing on the ready dod and then bend it around your handle bar, then cut it to lenght and install the garmin handle bar mount, works great. Now lets see if I can up;oad pictures.

I have a 2009 Vision Tour Premium that I currently have a Victory Tour Tech (Garmin 2720) mounted to the console with a custom made mount to raise the GPS up so that I can have my Sirius docking station underneath it. I have ordered a Garmin 660 from GPS City, but I haven't received it yet, I have the following questions: - Is the spacing for the screws to fasten the 2720 to the mount the same distance as the mount for the 660? In other words will I be able to use my custom mount to mount the docking pad for the 660 on the same as what I have done with the 2720? - Will I have to buy the mount kit from Victory # 2878028 for $179.99 Canadian or can I use the mount kit that will come with the 660 GPS. - Seeing as my bike is a 2009 will the plug work to plug in the 660 into the radio through the GPS port with the cord that come on the Garmin Kit? If not, do I cut the plug off the cord that currently hooks up my 2720 and use it on the harness that was supplied in the 660 kit or can I buy the plug from an electronics store and use it on the harness that was supplied in the 660 kit - Or seeing as my bike is a 2009 will the plug work to plug in the 660 into the radio through the GPS port with the cord that come on the Victory Kit part # 2878028? - I don't want to run the new 660 through the auxiliary port as that is where I run my docking station through for the Sirius radio, also I want the GPS to over ride the radio when there is a voice prompt, like it does now with the 2720.

I will attach a few pictures of my current set up.
