Oh, to have a lathe and a vertical mill, and the skill to use them. (He said, green with envy...) So much better than files and chalk. Nice to be able to conceive and design things in your head, infinitly better when you can actually make them.

Las Vegas, Nevada USA baby!
I noticed the kickstand issue the day of my test ride. Not only that, but because of my short legs, I can barely extend it enough to stay forward because my leg doesn't reach far enough. I really do have to "kick it" so the momentum carries it far enough to get past the return springs power.

LOL! I will keep you all posted, ok?? I was thinking an extention made from stainless, held on with set screws to the "nub" that is supposed to be caught with your heel. I could make some spiked, or different designs. I will have to test them, of course..... But they should be an easy thing to make, and CHEAP for those who want them here! ok?? -----Metalguy

As a girl, the heated seat is just fine. I've never noticed a problem with the kick stand. I guess I've developed some muscle memory and don't have any problems.

Here are my suggestions:
I don't listen to the radio when I ride. I like the sound of the wind and traffic. But when I do want to listen, I would like the reception to be better than it is.
The side saddlebags are too small. I have difficulty gaining access since the covers only swing down half way. Can we create a larger entry and open the doors more?
The mirrors. Mine shake to the point that I can't identify what's behind me other than car-v-semi. I had a cop pull up next to me the other day and had no idea those were lights on top of the car....
The mirrors. I'd like to see what's behind me and less of my gloved hands.
Please move the rear tip-over thingys back. I catch my boot on them when walking forward. (I drive in traffic frequently)
How about a digital speedometer instead of a dial?
Back lighted instrumentation on the handlebars and drivers panel. I ride in the dark in the morning.
What about a center stand? My hubby's GW has one and it seems like a good thing....

a HUD would be cool. The problem might be seeing it with polarized sunglasses. I would like to see built in FRS bluetooth support. We ride in groupd that use chatterboxes the family radio service bands (like motorola talkabouts) ... I want to be able to wear a bluetooth headset with no attaching cords and be able to talk bike to bike.

No one in our group uses CB radios so that's not really an option.

I wear 'em in my 'Vette with heads up and can see fine. I think heads up on the Victory (or any bike) would be great. Couple that with the new night vision on the Cadillac and "Holy cow Batman" you'd have it all.

Guess if you had nothing to complain about, you would have nothing to change on the bike to make it your own or sounds like you are about to start making the bike like everyother bike made in the last 30 years. Good thing there are aftermarket options and machine shops to help make everyone happy.

Oh by the way, how many riders do you ride with or get put together with in a group that you would actually trust having the ability to deal with a HUD? There are not many people i have ever rode with that i would trust being around while riding in close quarters and twisties and negotiate a hud with out getting caught up looking at the hud and not putting the bike in a ditch or worse yet, putting me in a ditch.

Centerstand

Backlit switches

Move the mode button on the front of the left switch cube to the right, and make the one on the left the PTT for the CB. That position would be ideal for a PTT, while the current position for the PTT really sucks. (We talk a lot while we ride).

Adjustable handlebars. I would like them to come back another inch or two. I'm short.

Make the sidestand a little more accessible. I have trouble finding it.

Better mirror glass. Maybe a combination of flat glass and convex.

Closable vents in the fairing lowers that can be opened in hot weather for more air on the rider's legs.

If you're going to put ABS on the bike, then make it an extra cost option. I don't want it. The current system works fine.

Standard reverse gear. Goldwing has it. BMW has it. Short guys riding 900 pound bikes need it.

Onboard air suspension compressor with readout of pressure in display.

Headlight adjustment knob somewhere within reach while riding.

Angled valve stem on wheels, at least on the rear. Make sure they bolt solid to the wheel. The kind that just stick through the wheel and are supported by a little bracket will eventually crack from centrifical force and leak (Honda). At least they will if you ride as fast as we do.

Eliminate the 6th gear speed limiter. Ruins the bragging rights.

110 horsepower at the rear wheel. Gives you the bragging rights. More cubic inches if that is what it takes to get there. 12.50 quarter mile times are what I'm talking about. Your potential customers include BMW owners and Goldwing owners. Performance is important to us.

More usable saddlebag capacity.

Move the rear tipovers back a little. They catch your heal easily.

Adjustable passenger footpegs that work with the existing floorboards.

Passenger armrests with cupholder.

Driver's backrest option with stock seat. See Utopia.

Switchblade style pegs that extend from the rear of the driver's floorboards. I would like to be able to rest my feet farther back at times, plus have the ability to stand up on the pegs/boards occasionally. Sometimes "things" need to be adjusted while underway.

More fuel capacity-at least 7 gallons. 8 would be better. These are long distance machines.

Trunk mounted run/turn/stop lights. People talking on their cellphones in their SUVs may not see the ones under the trunk. The more rear lighting, the better.

If you really want to please me, go to a singlesided swingarm and shaft drive. BMW has it, Honda copied it; works slick. Makes rear tire changes at home, or somewhere out in the middle of nowhere, a breeze when used in conjunction with a centerstand.

Helmet locks. Copy Honda here.

I'll probably think of some more, but the Vision is really good now. These suggestions would really make Honda and BMW sit up and take notice. Don't worry about HD. They're set in their ways and have a captive audience. You're not competing with them. Yamaha and Kawasaki went there anyway. The Vision is in a class that includes Honda and BMW.

Dallas_Gal, just wanted to address a couple of the items on your wish list because they are very similar to ones I had when I first bought the bike...

Dallas_Gal - 2008-09-28 9:47 AM
The side saddlebags are too small. I have difficulty gaining access since the covers only swing down half way. Can we create a larger entry and open the doors more?

I felt the exact same way, until I took my first weekend trip. When my wife and I took trips on our old Kingpin we would pack both saddlebags as far as we could and also had a pack on the back (T-bag, or whatever they're called...) that was packed to capacity. On the Vision (with the bag-liner luggage) we packed everything in the saddlebags. Everything. When we got done I was staring at the two full saddlebag liners and empty trunk liner sitting on the bed and asked the wife what she wasn't packing this year compared to last year. She replied that she had actually packed more because she had some more room in her bag. We ended up just using the trunk to pack the jackets and drinks for the trip.

The saddlebags are a real enigma: they look huge, until you open them, then they look tiny, until you actually pack them with everything you can. Surprisingly large.

The mirrors. Mine shake to the point that I can't identify what's behind me other than car-v-semi. I had a cop pull up next to me the other day and had no idea those were lights on top of the car....
The fasteners have loosened up on you. Do a quick search here on the forums and you'll find some good instructions on taking the covers off so you can tighten the screws back there. The mirrors should be rock steady and you should be able to see everything fine.

The mirrors. I'd like to see what's behind me and less of my gloved hands.

Again, a HUGE complaint of mine. It took me a while to get used to the new position of the mirrors. All my experience has been on non-fairing bikes where the mirrors are set up on top of the brake reservoir and clutch so the view is approximately over the shoulders. After riding the Vision for a little while and doing some playing with the mirrors and what I could see in them, I finally realized that I could see everything behind me, and could actually see more because I'm a broad guy and I always had limited view because I never had mirrors that stuck out as far as I wished them to. Once I found that I could see everything behind me in the Vision's mirrors I realized that my biggest problem was just that I was seeing my hands in the mirrors and I wasn't used to that.

I drove a car that had HUD for a long time and if they did it right (like the car I had did) then it would be far safer than the instrument panel itself. The info would be flashed up on the windshield right below your normal line-of-sight so you never had to take your eyes off the road to see pertinent information. My car had a slider on the IP to adjust the mirror so the HUD would be at the proper height for different sized drivers.

I think HUD would absolutely rock on the Vision. Talk about space-age cutting edge....

Savannah, GA -Year round riding!! Yay!

I agree with all issues mentioned here. My personal top 5 are:

  1. moving the heated grip/HID light/Flasher controls to a more easily accessible location,
  2. blacking the center console to reduce glare on the windshield,
  3. an optically correct windshield,
  4. making the kickstand easier to access in the up position,
  5. a center stand (an electric one, like on the BMW would rock!)

pretty much the same as everyone else.

Trunk lights that can be used as brakes lights and turn signals.
Seat heaters buttons moved.
Intercom bluetooth.
Painted accents not the silver we have now.
Bigger or adjustable passenger floorboard.
electric center kickstand.
Built it Sirrus radio not XM.

Again, i have used HUD before.  Flashing just below eye level again makes your eyes divert down to a spot in the road and again your motorcycle heads where you look.  Like i said, how many people have you ever ridden with that you trust with your life.  Just what i want to be next to in traffic, someone i dont know, just bought a bike cause it was cool and maight have 1000 miles under his belt, driving only when it was warm and sunny, so it might have taken him a whole year to get that 1000 miles., and now had has a warning flasher come up in his HUD so he looks just below his eyeline which places his line of sight to a different spot in the road and God knows what vehilce is in his way.  This is excatly why the HUD did not take off bake in the late 70's and early 80's. Your average person could not focus on the road with out being distracted by the HUD, even if it was set up in the lower section of the windshiled.

BETTER FACTORY SUPPORT!!!!!!!!!

LARGER SADDLEBAGS & TRUNK!

Option for larger passenger foot boards.

Better clear coat.

Better overall fit and finish.

Better quality and better ingegrated sound system (this includes the iPod issues, reception, speakers, etc., etc.).

Integrated GPS (not just mounted on top as if it were an afterthought. The dash (between the gauges) seems to have plenty of room for a readout display that could include vehicle functions, GPS, iPod, etc. (similar to the BMW... car).

Heated leather seat with driver back rest.

No more pussyfooting around, 2500cc V4 180H.P shaft drive fully balanced.
This should shut down the biggest and baddest tourers and cruisers for good.

1. Digital read out of tire pressure in both tires
2. higher mirrors
3 bigger hardbags
4. electronic shut off if kickstand is down unless in N
5. Xm radio or just a real antenna on the radio that works
