Arkainzeye - 2010-09-10 7:43 PM if you get the LEDs do you need a load eq? And is there any chance the leds will mess up the electrical system? i ask cause every once in a while you read about someones cruise control NOT working and alot of the time theyve dont something to the electrical system (aftermarket)

I put all LED's in my rear tail lamps and yes you need a load equalizer.  Due to low draw, the electrical system thinks that your tail lights are not working and will disengage the cruise.  Tap in the equalizers and it fixes the problem.  Just make sure you tap into "stop" wires and not the wires for the running lamps.  Putting a load equalizer on the turn signal is not necessary, but you will get the "fast blink" without the LE . . . your choice.  When properly done, there should be no issues with the electrical system.

I just spoke with the owner Andy at www.volusia-motorsports.com what a nice guy and a pleasure to talk with. He took time out of his day to call me and explain what they have and what they could do for me. I was very impressed with this nice customer support. I plan to order the clear front lens from him when he gets them back in stock. He does have the rear clear lenses in stock now but I need to see that for myself before commiting to those. But the fronts I will have. I Just need to find the clear bulbs that turn amber when you turn the bike on to be legal. plus that way they dont have the ugly orange bulb sticking out inside the lens itself when the bike is off. Clear bulb will solve all that. thanks for the info guys/gals...

Man314 it's all good bud. I'll just wait till the next stock comes in. please post pics when you get them installed.. I'm not worried about doing the leds portion of it now. I just will use the clear bulbs that light up amber for now. Looks way better than the amber ones when the bike is off. They said they will e-mail me some info and pics of what there shop has done. Cant wait.

stevestreet,

I commend you on your install. Mine is not going so well. Thought it would be pretty straight forward.

Here's my issues: http://www.vision-riders.com/bb/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=7075&pos...

You could help me out by telling me bulb number they sent you (was it 3757KA) and socket number (printed on back with white paint . . . was it C1 - 10014?). I have a variety of sockets left from other projects. Some still fit, but are different numbers. May be my issue. Thx!

Update: I got all this working with incandescent amber bulbs up front. When I tried my Amber LED 92's, the blinkers didn't work at all. I'm trying to get rid of the amber color when the bulb is off. Pete @ Volusia Motorsports suggested using a 2010 CC flasher as it was designed for LED's and would fit the 09 Vision. Got it in the mail this week and I put it on yesterday. It did not work, so I'm back to conventional amber bulbs and a fast flash. I may try giving Pete a call Monday . . . this should have been a plug and play fix.

Anyone ever try these? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=23052...

Try some resisters in there to increase the load. Thats what I did with my turns and flasher brakes on the rear.

Yeah, I did load equalizers on my rear end. Pete @ Volusia said that this new flasher would eliminate need to use them. Might try this next.

Here is what she looks like with Sylvania Silverstar bulbs.  Slight blue tint (just a trace of amber) when off.  Eliminates that orange glow you get with normal incandescent bulbs (see photos above in post).  When lit, they are a much deeper and brighter amber . . . makes the normal ambers apear to be washed out or yellow.  Still trying to get LED's working, bu this just may do the trick.

Do the clear lenses have the reflex reflectors in them? Are they DOT certified?

i was just going to ask the SAMETHING.. if they are DOT cert.. becuase in PA they are cracking down on the amount of "illegal" motorcycles on the road. people do what ever they want to them meanwhile its either not safe or not legal.. not safe being the little turn signals that have a lens the size of a nickle.. one shop told me if he would pass a bike that was illegal and somehow the law found out, he could loose his inspection license..

I have no idea if they are DOT legal. I can tell you that with the set up I have it is much brighter than stock and a much better differentiation between turn and stops since my turns are now amber. I feel it offers more safety and to me that is worth getting a ticket. I have ridden in this configuration for over 8 months in 8 different states and never been pulled over. I have had cops follow me.

I think the concern would be when it was deemed illegal and the individual failed to make corrections then that would give them reason to impound it. Won't be the first time, and I'm not trying to pee in anyone's cornflakes either.

I like the look too and your lights prob. Do look brighter when on, the main concern is how other cars lights reflect back. Most states require reflectors on all sides of a vehicle, white on front, red on back and amber and red on sides. The front and back are often incorporated into the lenses. Clear lens mods on cars are illegal for the same reason. Some cars come from the factory with clear lenses, but have seperate reflectors mounted as well, making them legal.

What I have noticed is that you can't tell a difference when the lights are on, but there's a big difference when lights are shining on it. If your bike lights are off, the bike is almost invisible without reflectors.
