When you see him next, don't be an jerk about it, just say " Hey man I thought we were gonna race ?" " Is your motorcycle OK?" HAHAHA. And I'm not a Harley hater either, I still have my 95 inch 2003 RoadGlide parked next to the Vision and my 120 RWHP 1424cc Sportster too.........

He parks his bike pretty far away from where I park mine. Just becuase of where our respective offices are. He rides his bike almost everyday while I seldom ride mine to work. Next time I ride I think I will just park either right next to him or in a way to block him in so he would have to call me to get out.

I am sorry but I just got a mental picture of SongFan Riding behind the SE110 with one hand on the throttle and the other holding a camera. While he is shifting with out the clutch....finally he passes the HD as well.

P.S. how do you think he gets the nice video he shoots?

You also can play with the GW guys, if one wants too.

Maybe a GL1500 or less.....Ive been flat out embarrassed by every GL1800 Ive rode with. This is comparing stock Vision to stock wing.....my bike has not had any work done to it.

After a short ride on the wing I've decided just not to play anymore. I grabbed some throttle at a hard launch and the front wheel on that wing came clean off the ground....with ease. I dont find them comfortable.....but I cant deny they are the faster and more powerful bike.....in my eyes, hands down.

The stock 2009 GL1800 generates 101HP and 106ft/lbs of torque at the rear wheel (per dyno charts on reviews).

The stock 2009 Vision generates 78HP and 97ft/lbs of torgue at the rear wheel (per previous kevinx post).

Thats a pretty big gap......

Heck the stats I see for the GL1200 Goldwing show 94hp at crank/83hp at rear wheel.....although I have no torque specs. Im guessing that a GL1200 would give it a hard run....and my money is a GL1500 would best it by a small margin.

gearing has a lot to do with a wing also. I had a gl1200 for about 2 years and I felt it was quick and all, but getting on the Vision, the gl1200 seemed like a gnat in comparison. I will say the gl1200 was a grand machine in its day, but there is nothing that makes me wish I still had one. The two years I had the wing just prior to the Vision I rolled over 38,000 miles with, but it was also when I first started riding and it sat 3 months waiting to get a headgasket replace.

The payment maybe?

My wing is payed for.....still writing a check on the Vision.....and likely will be for awhile.

The big thing on old bikes is having someone to work on it....either you or a mechanic. Im lucky to have a great mechanic that prefers old stuff and charges a reasonable $30 an hour.....none of my bikes are down for very long and if I want him to he even makes garage calls.....comes right over and works in MY garage. COOL

The thing is when I first got the GL1200 I thought "man this bike is it....it doesnt get any more comfy then this rolling couch".......but many years of progress and technology proved me wrong.....first when I set on a GL1800....WOW.....then the Vision.....SUPER WOW.

Yeah, it gets better.....but better isnt cheap.....not that I regret buying the Vision (yet).

Like Ive said before....the bike constantly impresses me in all aspects EXCEPT performance. Which Im 100% fine with, cause Ive got a rice rocket if I want performance.....I didnt buy this bike to run the strip with. Nor am I saying the bike doesnt perform well....it does.....it just doesnt impress me with its performance, its merely adequate.

The GL1800 impressed me with its performance.......but not much else. Actually the fit and finish is superb, I believe better then the Vision.....but then mother Honda has FAR more experience....and the Victory isnt a slouch. I found the controls on the GW to complicated, not in the correct places.....the legroom was nill........it just felt like you set on TOP of the bike.

Different machines for different riders.......but I still think a Vision owner is dreaming if he thinks hes gonna out run a GL1800.......either from a dead stop or a roll-on. Not based on any experience Ive had.

Just drop some VM1 Cams, Intake Plate and a VFCIII in your Vision. Problem solved.

Did not say you were going to whip their ass, said you can play with them. As far as the bikes, that's whay you bring to the dance. One area that I feel touring bikes need to shine in acceleration is the 5th gear roll on test. So with that in mind, I went up against a Gl1800 on a roll on from 60 mph to 120 mph. We were located on US 190 between Eldorado Tx. and Iraan Tx., a good place to do this, pretty much in the middle of no where. Both bikes were side by side in 5th gear at 60mph. My bike was stage 1 level 1 with a Lloyds in take plate at that time...no fuel controller or cams, the dyno on that set up is 87hp and 104 lb.ft torque. The GL has aftermarket mufflers and not sure what else. So it maybe a little better than a stock setup. Both bikes were loading for a 5 day trip and riding single so the weight of th bikes were the ~ the same. One the roll on started at 60 mph the GL had me by about a wheel length up to 100 mph at that point we were dead even. At 120 mph when I hit the limititer the VV was a wheel ahead. Now I have the cams and fuel controller, he won't play no more!! There is no doubt the GL is fast, just saying you can still play...

Well He's been in and out off my office all day and no mention of racing bikes. Seems to talk a little more subdued than he used to. We talked about work and going on some rides and I just let it be that. It was almost uncomfortable to me to have him kinda tippy toe around me as thats not normally how he is.

...it's called humbled respect. Personally, I think he needs to man up and say he's not going to race you. Even if admits he can be beat or says it's too dangerous, etc. Saying nothing in hopes it all just passes speaks volunes. You are being the bigger man in how you are handling it.

Eagle,

Please pass this on to SE dude.

It's not too late to save yourself.  All you have to do is walk up to Chris and say "No mas."  For the first time in your life I'm begging you to man up and call it off.  This is getting way bigger than you ever dreamed and the outcome will stick forever.  I can't believe your reputation is worth this.  Even your Harley buddies know how this will end.  Tell Chris it's off and this whole thing dies a quick, relatively painless death.  Seriously.

(Just for the record, I don't expect you to call it off.  Oh well.)

I've had GL12's 15's and 18's. The bike before my Vision was an Ultra SE with the 103. Getting on the Vision was such a difference in power when it was just stock. After a couple of years I got Kevin to do the power magic and things really livened up.
There's no question you would smoke him. Be gentle, but somehow make him eat his words!

Here's a link to a post about a run I had with a GW last November.

First off let me say that this really is all in good fun. That being said its time to show him what the a$$ end of my victory looks like. I thought all this was just going away and I was content with that. Now the trash talk is back (it really is in good fun) and Im going to answer the call and hopefully do our Victory group proud. He wanted to go look at the spot where we could run at lunch. So a group of us did and its a good place. Now I'm going to rag him silly till it goes down which I believe will be early next week. NO MORE MERCY!!! He's already made the coment that if he loses performace parts will be on the way specifically cams.

Awww, XR you ruined it.  Let him get his butt kicked, go get the new cams, then get it kicked again.  This could have been fun for a long time.  He could have been the $50,000+ poster child.

Best thing is there is another Harley rider now starting to talk uhhhhh "stuff". I told them I would give them a 2 for 1 special. I guess I really shocked this second guy, doctor with SE street glide, by thinking that my vision is actually more powerful than thier SE's. I mean how dumb am I?
