has anyone seen these?

They are a white light that turns amber only when the turn signal is activated.
They also have Brake lights that flash before going constant as well, without having to add a module.

Sounds cool, but I'm not set up for LEDs yet.

Did anybody ever figure out which part number Sylvania bulb is the one that is clear but burns amber?
Please post. Thanks.
Just read all 4 pages of this thread and didn't see a correct part number

What I have found out.....
Stock incandescents give off 450/150 (high/low) lumens of white light which then gets filtered thru your colored lens so that only the red or amber wavelengths come through. A red LED with 120 SMT LEDs produce 500/200 lumens of red light that does not get filtered out when going thru a red lens. Autoluminations also makes a 10watt (5x2watt HP SMT LEDs) 3157 bulb that produce 600/200 lumens of red light. They also have a new 12 watt (4x3watt), but I do not have the lumens for that one. The highest RED blinking ones I have seen are a 60 SMT bulb that would provide 250/100 lumens of red light ( about the same as 450/150 of white light thru a colored lens).
The Amber/White switchbacks are nice, again 60 SMT LEDs thru a clear lens is about the same as an incandescent bulb thru a colored lens. Some switchback bulbs use 60 white and 60 amber bulbs (120 total), others use a LED that changes from white to amber, thus all 60 LEDs are always on. I have noticed that the bulbs that use the same LED for both colors, cause some interference with the radio while blinking (something in the electronics that control it).

Hope this helps anyone wanting to do this.

I ride with a group of eight to fifteen riders all the time. The guy in front of us one time had those blinking break lights and every time he put hit foot on the brake most of us though we were going to make a turn. There a nice safety feature but a pain in the ass for group riding.

Well I got my clear lens's installed. Having step by step instructions helped make the job easier. The hardest part was removal and re-installation of the speaker boxes. They were a PITA.

The previous owner installed speakers with larger magnets and hit the back of the box. The well nuts were blown out and had to fab some thing to get them back together.

For now, I am using the amber bulbs that came with the lens.

Definitely like the look on the black bike.

OBTW, thanks to Nozzeldog for calling me about the lights.

Pictures?

Also, running the clear bulbs out of the old lenses looks pretty good as well.

California Vehicle Code 24953 states (a) Any turn signal system used to give a signal of intention to turn right or left shall project a flashing white or amber light visible to the front and a flashing red or amber light visible to the rear.

<p>I just did mine this weekend will post pics soon it looks great with the clear lenses. In my quest for non orange lights a guy said today at auto zone <span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); -webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(175, 192, 227, 0.230469); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(77, 128, 180, 0.230469)">that sylvania used to make a silver ish frosted bulb that lit up orange when on. And when the bike is parked, it looks like it blends in with the reflective innards. I will keep looking down here and let you know if I find anything else. Personally I just might switch out the 2bulbs once in a while when going to bike nite or something. FL has the same statute about the white or orange turn signals. Will do more research with the DOT, might help a little</span></p><p> </p><p> </p>

I'm no expert on vehicle lighting laws, but I don't think front turn signals can be clear. I thought either red or amber. I do have clear running lights up front closest to headlamp

Only emergency vehicles can display forward facing red lights. Front turn signals or markers can only be white (clear) or amber.

I was told by 3 companies that the led replacement bulbs will not fit threw the hole and the plastic housing... so do they fit?

They fit fine in the outer holes. The inner holes require you to either remove the speaker volume boxes to install them, or buy LED bulbs that are shorter. I used the 44 SMT LED bulbs that were 42mm tall. Any taller and I would have had to remove the speakers to install them. Using a 44 LED bulb for the inner bulbs is plenty bright if you get them as 3156 bulbs, because the inner bulbs are only running light and 3156 bulbs are always at full brightness whereas the outer ones are running lights when in dim mode.

I got my LED's and load equalizers today. Installed per instructions and they still blink fast. The load equalizers are getting very hot, so I assume they are working. Any ideas or suggestions?

Nozzledog - 2011-02-19 5:18 PM I have found nothing that says FRONT turn signals cannot be white. Backs must be red or amber. Fronts can be white or amber. I think it looks good without amber. OFF or ON. Can anyone with Highway Patrol experience chime in here? and from what state?

I just finished installing clear lenses on my Nessy and in my research I discovered that California DMV codes actually state that: "24953.  (a) Any turn signal system used to give a signal of intention to turn right or left shall project a flashing white or amber light visible to the front and a flashing red or amber light visible to the rear."  http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc24953.htm

So, I'm just running clear bulbs and I LOVE the look.

Here are some pics of my bike.  This one shows the right side with the original amber and the left side the new clear (still with the amber bulb in the signal position).

Here is the finished project - very clean on my black Nessy.

I got my lenses from Volusia Motorsports, FL.  They knew exactly what I was looking for, with shipping: $199.75.  Phone:  386-428-2212.

I'd love to but that weekend is a big weekend at my spa business.  I am going to the Sweetheart Ride this Saturday (1/28) in Lake Havasu.

I am in the process of wiring both lights up front to blink when activated. What I have found out so far is that the 60-60 Switchback LEDs will also fit in the inner location if you unplug them from the harness to install them, then plug the harness back in once the bulb and cradle are seated. It's not the easiest, but it is possible. Now I just need to find the right wire connector to splice in the 3rd wire.

Here is what she looks like with Sylvania Silverstar bulbs.? Slight blue tint (just a trace of amber) when off.? Eliminates that orange glow you get with normal incandescent bulbs (see photos above in post).? When lit, they are a much deeper and brighter amber . . . makes the normal ambers apear to be washed out or yellow.? Still trying to get LED's working, bu this just may do the trick.

Those Silverstars are PRICEY! $30 per pair! Not sure I want to spend $60 just to not see the amber bulbs when the lights are off.

Vehicles are required to have red reflectors on the back and amber on the sides, they can either be incorporated into the brake and turn lenses, or completely seperate. Otherwise, there is nothing about it.

Just installed my clear front lenses. I have an 8 Ball so I have no speakers. The only panel I had to remove was the V panel. Total install time 1 hour. This is the best/cheapest mod for the money IMO. I wish I had better pictures but I was to lazy to move the car to get the bike out.
