found these on Amazon, listed for use with Vision?  Anybody try them yet, what do you think.  Any noticeable difference?

The Kicker site specifically calls out Victory.

I have them and was impressed by quality, but the overall unit still isn't that loud in my opinion. I still think an amp is needed for cleaner, louder sound.. Personal preference I guess. JMHO.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but PS5250 is 2 ohm and PS52504 is 4 ohm.
The Vision uses 4 ohm speakers.

Regarding loudness, the sensitivity is only 88dB which means it will take more power than the wimpy Vision stereo has to take full advantage of what those speakers have to offer

The Kicker speaker specs indicate an spl of 88db which is less efficient than the stock spkrs (92db) which supports alohaboy's observation.

Speaker upgrade will be better sound - you still need an amp to drive them. I have 100 watts 50x2 using Cycle Sounds speakers and amp - it sounds good at 70

There's been a bunch of amps installed by different folks here. We even have a few tech posts on their installation. I've been very happy with Polk db521 speakers (4ohm) and the Rockford Fosgate PBR300X4 amp. There's an article here on this as well.

No matter which route you take, let us know what you did and post some photos.

i know this doesnt help anyone but i just wanted to post a difference i noticed. i had a 08 vision. i thought the speakers sounded (ok) and the power of the radio i usually road at volume level 12, the radio reception was a absolute Joke! now i have a 2011 vision and i excepted the same thing. but nothing about the radio is the same!! for 1 thing, the mid range and treble sounds way more clear and in your face. then 2) to get the same volume i have been used to riding with for 3 years i now only have to turn the radio up to volume level 9 INSTEAD of 12. then lastly the radio reception on the '11 is really Good! i can actually listen to many different radio stations withOut fade... im not saying the stock speakers are better than these. i just know everything about the radio on my new vision has greatly improved over the 08 model.. Complete night and day difference!

I have been looking at Best Buy for Kicker speakers. I'm not sure I have the right size picked out but the price seams pretty good. I know I can go to Kicker for a cross reference part number and will do that soon. With christmas here I'm shopping for the best price and yes I will hold onto my sales recite in case they go bad.

Only one of them will fit for sure = 5.25" . I was thinking of trying the 6" one to see if they would fit...

How about moving the mirrors to the bars, then make a mounting plate, and mount speakers in the mirror holes

I have the kickers in mine and like them, but as said it needs more power to really hear it well at interstate speeds. I'm looking at the arc mini my self. It is a close match to the power rating on the kicker speakers

Polk Audio has two speakers suitable for the Vision that are "marine certified". They are DB521 and DXi525. These two speakers are the exact same speaker. The only difference is the grill which you won't use on the Vision anyway. Everything else is the same. All specs are the same. The DXi series was originally branded for Best Buy stores and is now available at a multitude of audio stores.

DXi525

Crutchfield.com currently has either for $99 and buy one pair get second pair free.

Note that although these speakers are drop-in replacements for the rear, you will need to reform or remove the Vision's front speaker enclosure. Reforming is easily done with a heat source (heat gun, tourch, hair dryer, etc). If you remove the enclosures, you should replace them with foam speaker baffles.

Polk is famous for thier ability to get good bass response out of small drivers, I didn't know they moved into the Marine environment. These are going on my purchase list.

Found them for $55 on Ebay.

Have a 08 vision and if I hock up my ipod and turn the volume up on the ipod, the stock speakers seam to be much better. I can hear more bass and even separation in the speakers.
So why is this or am I just kidding myself ?

I compared the Polks side by side with Hawg Wired speakers. The HW speakers clearly out performed the Polks. The Polks had a bit more mid-bass while listening in the garage, but the difference was not noticeable at all while moving down the road. The HW spkrs were clearer, louder, and cleaner.

I setup my test so I could turn the the tweeters and woofers on and off individually and in any combination. The Polk tweeter makes little difference on or off. When played by itself it is distorted sounding. Can't even tell what song is playing. The HW tweet makes a huge difference when turned on and off and the song is easily identified. The woofers are similar sounding with the Polk dipping a bit lower in the frequency range as mentioned above.

The biggest difference I noticed is the strong mid to high frequency the HW spkrs deliver. This is the range you hear at 50mph anyway. Lower frequencies require bigger woofers and more power to be heard on the road. The 5-1/4" spkrs simply are not going to produce the low notes at high volume to hear on the road. To prove this, I switched from high pass (250 Hz) to full range at 40mph.There was no noticable difference to my ears from either spkr.

Overall, I found the HW spkrs to be much better suited for the Vision. The HW spkrs sound the same going down the road as they do when stopped. I suspect this is because they are tuned to deliver the frequency range that is audible over road, wind, and bike noise. This is not to say the Polks are bad in any way. They do not sound bad at all. It's just that HW performs better while Rockin' Down The Highway.

I am doing a complete writeup of my testing and will post on this forum.

Great write up! I have one question - what is the cost of the HW compared to Polks?

Hawg-wired P/N DX504-70 MSRP $230
http://hawg-wired.com/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=101

Polk Audio P/N DB521 MSRP $100
http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/db/index.php?s=db521

The Polks are obviously advantageous when it comes to price. And like I said, they do not sound bad. The HW spkrs are simply made to be heard while going 70mph in open air with aftermarket pipes.

If you are not overly critical of your music, the Polks are definately the way to go and save your bucks for other bike goodies. If you like to jam full volume for 200 miles at a time, the HW speakers will be easier on your ears for extended listening time. I am critical and think the extra cost is worth it. Others may not be as critical. There are riders on this forum that installed the Polks and like them. It's all a matter of preference.

BTW, I bought two sets of the Polks with full intention of replacing all four HW. One set is still in the box, unopened, untampered with. I want to sell them since I am going to stay with HW. I paid $53.89. I will sell for $40 and chalk the loss up to science. Beware of the low priced on-line specials for $28. I believe these are for the old magent before they upgraded. I'm not 100% sure about this, but I have dealt with audio long enough to know a low price can mean they are not what you expect. Also, many of the low price ones are used.

First $40 takes a new set of Polk DB521. PM me.

I put 5.25 Alpine speakers in front. I used a heat gun to make the speaker box bigger to accomodate the Alpine speaker. Also bought Hawg wired amp and speakers. Putting the Hawg wire speakers in back with baffles. I'm thinking by keeping the speaker boxes in front I should have a better sound. Heating up the boxes to enlarge is tricky, went thru 2 boxes at $28.00 a piece to figure out best way of doing it. Dealer will install amp under seat between left bag and side cover and update 08 radio. Obviously not thinking so much about cost as to good sound and not drilling holes in side bag to cool amp.
