I put 5.25 Alpine speakers in front. I used a heat gun to make the speaker box bigger to accomodate the Alpine speaker. Also bought Hawg wired amp and speakers. Putting the Hawg wire speakers in back with baffles. I'm thinking by keeping the speaker boxes in front I should have a better sound. Heating up the boxes to enlarge is tricky, went thru 2 boxes at $28.00 a piece to figure out best way of doing it. Dealer will install amp under seat between left bag and side cover and update 08 radio. Obviously not thinking so much about cost as to good sound and not drilling holes in side bag to cool amp.

Just ordered some Polks.....can you let me know what process you found that worked.

I have a heat gun.....my plan was.

warm plastic
wrap wax paper around speaker magnet (to keep the plastic from sticking to it)
put speaker in box and push......warm plastic while pushing if necessary

I put in the kickers that i got from best buy for like $ 100.- and ordered the Crutchfield foam speaker baffles, did the swap to the front ones. Only because i take the trunk off alot. There a huge difference in the depth of sound between the front and the stock backs. I haven't installed an external amp either. I can hear then just fine blasting down the road between 70 & 85 mph. I usually don't listen to them much over volume setting 15. They have been going strong for over 2 years now too.

I completely removed the plastic speaker housing and in their place I installed foam acoustic cones. Inexpensive and u cN find them on amazon. The sound quality and volume is exponentially better!!! I have witchdoctor voodoo pipes which are aggressive and at 70 my volume is played at 14 to 17
