Mine are painted with basecoat/clearcoat. Have been for two seasons. Zero problems.

I don't like the grayish/silverish fork lowers on my Vision either. What did you do to prep your forks for paint?

Hit the local auto paint supply store and talk with them about what you want to do, they'll steer you right, give you tips and hints and they'll quite probably be cheaper than EASTWOOD which his good stuff, they're just REALLY PROUD of it.You can finds pretty good epoxy paint in rattle cans too, a friend did the frame for his 750 HONDA CHOPPER with rattle cans several years ago and it still looks good

Epoxy is a strong durable paint. Look for a bumper paint its more durable.

Look on the net for how to paint or find a body shop even a maaco paint shop. You can spend a good fifty bucks on supply's and one screw up you have to start over. Having a pro do it would be the way to go. I see your bike is not that old but the best longest life would be power coat. Power coating is not that hard on your parts. You would have to tell painter to mask this off and that off.
Me I would power coat and have dealer put forks back together.

I use RED DEVIL epoxy from a can to clearcoat my helmets after I paint them, holds up perfectly to UVA/UVB without yellowing for the five or so years I trust a helmet before buying a new one. And since it's an epoxy plastic it's 100% encapsualtion and won't absorb moisture, after all, the factory applied epoxy paint on your newer car is water based. That's one reason the paint blew off 70's GM cars, it was water based but not formulated to mix with Mexican water and wouldn't bond with the metals.
