Anyone used another brand of luggage racks for your vision under 200 bucks. On my Kingpin tour i went to the local hd shop and found one that fit perfectly for about $150 bucks. Cant see paying 350-450 for a luggage rack. Pricing..even aftermarket is crazy ridiculous. Please post pics and specifics. Need one, but refuse to be bent over on this one. I think its safe to say...if someone can make one under 200 bucks, they will sell a ton to us Vision owners. Thanks in advance.

KP,

I kept watching this site and the other Victory sites for a used OEM one for sale. Ended up buying a used OEM one for $160.00 and had it re-chromed for $80.00. So for $240.00 I got a nice "new" rack. What was nice is the new chrome job was better then the original as there were a few issues with the chrome on the early racks. I, like you did not want to drop so much money for a rack. Even without instructions install was a breeze.

Since you had a wing, you should be able to use one for the VV. The one on my 08 is from J&P, made for a Goldwing, but works just fine. ET

and a part #?

I agree with the OP the prices for he Vic trunk racks are insane compared to HD and Wing. I thought there must be an HD or Wing rack that would work on our Visions and look decent.

If possible, please post a part # and more pics. I like the way it protects the uppper part of the trunk with the upward swoosh! I may have to get one of those.

Dont get me wrong...I have seen the pics of the "custom" wing racks and they seem to have the quality and look to justify the price. However, I just need a rack thats functional and can haul my wifes crap on long rides. I buy a trunk rack to use, not to look at...so for me, these are way to pricey compared to other brands.

CycleOps guys...is there a way to make just a "functional" trunk rack that can bring the cost down. I see that many are pleased with your work and repect any company that has great customer service (from the posts ive read). Maybe a rack that is more function and less bling? Seems that if HD and Honda can make a decent "cheap" rack, you guys may have some ideas to help out the Vision community. We really need a entry level trunk rack.

I don't have a part number for the rack, just pulled it off the shelf. Will take some better pics later and post. ET

I'd also love a choice. I always seem to just under bid on trunk racks on eBay. I don't really want to pay for a new one that has a 5lbs load limit. For as much as I see myself using it, it just isn't practical at the new price.

I'll have to look into the one from J&P. As much I like the chrome Victory winged one, I can't see 500.00.

Here are some better pics of the GW rack. It would have been better if I had placed it 2 inches to the front of the trunk. But I was in a hurry and drilled the first hole to far back, so I just didn't worry about it. ET

Both the boys are now 4 and 5 years old. Both are also riding on the real road as they call it. And they love going on rides, the oldest attended his 1st bike nite at Uncle Bucks in Salisbury, NC last Tuesday. It was boring for me, just drinking tea, but he loved it. ET

I agree it would look a bit better a couple inches forward but it still looks nice. My son started riding on the back of my HD when he was 5, much to his mothers displeasure lol. He's grown now.

with that wing rack, if you have to replace any of the trunk lights do you have to remove the trunk rack in order to do so? it looks as if part of the GW rack mounts into the black area that holds the lights..?

The rack has nothing to do with replacing the bulbs. Replaced one before I went to Daytona, just 2 screws and pulled the bulb holder out. All of that is inside the trunk lid. And one of the mothers was fussing when the oldest one was on the bike when he was two. He pointed for a ride at that time, so around the yard we went. ET

I picked this up at J&P in Daytona in Feb. of 2009. They were on sale for 139.95. I don't have a part number because of it being so long ago. But I do remember that it was an after market Gold Wing maker. Sorry if I can't help you more. ET
